Chromium propionate improves performance and carcass traits in broilers

There is evidence to suggest that poultry may have a dietary requirement for metabolically available chromium(Cr)that exceeds the amount provided through wheat soybean meal *** objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of dietary supplemental organic Cr from Cr propionate at different dose levels(control=0μg/kg,T1=200μg/kg,T2=400μg/kg)on the growth performance,carcass traits,and meat quality of *** gain and feed intake of each treatment were recorded at the start and after 14,28 and 35 d,and feed conversion ratios(FCR)were calculated ***35 d of age,birds were randomly selected and euthanized for carcass *** of the first trial indicate that both Cr propionate treatments increased final body weight(Plementation improved(Pll carcass ***,with increased Cr dosage,carcass yield,dressing percentage and breast meat yield increased linearly(Pls that the feed intake in the control group was significantly higher compared to both Cr propionate supplemented groups(T1&T2).Furthermore,the Cr propionate supplemented T2 group displayed a significantly lower FCR than the control and T1 group(P=0.027).Finally,Cr propionate supplementation increased the dressing percentage compared to control birds(Plementation(T1&T2)increased final body weight and decreased FCR compared with the control *** effects were highly significant(Pll feeding phases of the *** propionate supplementation also increased(Pld,dressing percentage,breast meat yield,leg and thigh weights compared with the control *** conclusion,growth performance,feed conversion,carcass yield,breast and leg meats of broiler birds can be significantly improved by dietary inclusion of Cr *** pro

Potential games are noncooperative games for which there exist auxiliary functions, called potentials,such that the maximizers of the potential are also Nash equilibria of the corresponding game. Some properties of Nash equilibria, such as existence or stability, can be derived from the potential, whenever it exists. We survey different classes of potential games in the static and dynamic cases, with a finite number of players, as well as in population games where a continuum of players is allowed. likewise, theoretical concepts and applications are discussed by means of illustrative examples.

Modulation of cell physiology under hypoxia in pancreatic cancer

Declining metabolic scaling parallels an ontogenetic change from elongate to deep-bodied shapes in juvenile Brown trout

Body shape and metabolic rate can be important determinants of animal performance,yet often their effects on influential traits are evaluated in a non-integrated *** creates an important gap because the integration between shape and metabolism may be crucial to evaluate metabolic scaling ***,we measured standard metabolic rate in 1-and 2-years old juvenile brown trout Salmo trutta,and used a geometric morphometrics approach to extricate the effects of ontogeny and size on the link between shape and metabolic *** evidenced near-isometric ontogenetic scaling of metabolic rate with size,but also a biphasic pattern driven by a significant change in metabolic scaling,from positive to negative ***,the change in metabolic allometry parallels an ontogenetic change from elongate to deep-bodied *** is consistent with the dynamic energy budget(DEB)and surface area(SA)theories,but not with the resource transport network theory which predicts increasing allometric exponents for trends towards more robust,three-dimensional *** addition,we found a relationship between body shape and size independent metabolic rate,with a positive correlation between robustness and metabolic rate,which fits well within the view of Pace-of-life Syndromes(POlS).Finally,our results align with previous studies that question the universality of metabolic scaling exponents and propose other mechanistic models explaining the diversity of metabolic scaling relationships or emphasizing the potential contribution of ecological factors.

Winkler Support Model and Nonlinear Boundary Conditions Applied to 3D Elastic Contact Problem Using the Boundary Element Method

This work presents a numerical methodology for modeling the Winkler supports and nonlinear conditions by proposing new boundary conditions. For the boundary conditions of Winkler support model, the surface tractions and the displacements normal to the surface of the solid are unknown, but their relationship is known by means of the ballast coefficient, whereas for nonlinear boundary conditions, the displacements normal to the boundary of the solid are zero in the positive direction but are allowed in the negative direction. In those zones, detachments of nodes might appear, leading to a nonlinearity, because the number of nodes that remain fixed or of the detached ones (under tensile tractions) is unknown. The proposed methodology is applied to the 3D elastic receding contact problem using the boundary element method. The surface t r actions and the displacements of the common int erface bet ween the two solids in contac t under the influence of different supports are calculated as well as the boundary zone of the solid where the new boundary conditions are applied. The problem is solved by a double-iterative met hod, so in the final solut ion, t here are no t r act ions or pene trations between the two solids or at the boundary of the solid where the nonlinear boundary conditions are Simula ted. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by examples.

Intraexaminer repeatability and agreement in stereoacuity measurements made in young adults

AIM: To determine the repeatability and agreement of stereoacuity measurements made using some of the most widely used clinical tests: Frisby, TNO, Randot and ***: Stereoacuity was measured in two different sessions separated by a time interval of at least 24 h but no longer than 1wk in 74 subjects of mean age 20.6y using the four methods. The study participants were divided into two groups: subjects with normal binocular vision and subjects with abnormal binocular ***: Best repeatability was shown by the Frisby and Titmus [coefficient of repeatability(COR): ±13 and±12s arc respectively] in the subjects with normal binocular vision though a clear ceiling effect was *** the subjects with abnormal binocular vision, best repeatability was shown by the Frisby(COR: ±69s arc)and Randot(COR: ±72s arc). In both groups, the TNO test showed poorest agreement with the other ***:Therepeatabilityofstereoacuitymeasures was low in subjects with poor binocular vision yet fairly good in subjects with normal binocular vision with the exception of the TNO test. The reduced agreement detected between the tests indicates they cannot be used interchangeably.

From Network Functions to NetApps: The 5GASP Methodology

As the 5G ecosystem continues its consolidation,the testing and validation of the innovations achieved by integrators and verticals service providers is of preponderant *** this line,5GASP is a European H2020-funded project that aims at easing the idea-to-market process through the creation of an European testbed that is fully automated and self-service,in order to foster rapid development and testing of new and innovative 5G Network Applications(NetApps).The main objective of this paper is to present the 5GASP’s unified methodology to design,develop and onboard NetApps within the scope of different vertical services,letting them use specific 5G ***,we examine the whole 5GASP process in a tutorial fashion by adopting a specific use case focusing on the integration of a virtual On-Board Unit(vOBU)service that permits offloading processing from the attached vehicle and serving data-access *** demonstrated,the presented workflow permits the agile,rigorous,and safe development,testing and certification of NetApps,which will enable valuable in-network services for 5G and beyond infrastructures.

Modelling potential distribution of a pine bark beetle in Mexican temperate forests using forecast data and spatial analysis tools

Accurate and reliable predictions of pest species distributions in forest ecosystems are urgently needed by forest managers to develop management plans and monitor new areas of potential ***-only species distribution models are commonly used in these *** maximum entropy algorithm(MaxEnt)has gained popularity for modelling species ***,MaxEnt was used to model the spatial distribution of the Mexican pine bark beetle(Dendroctonus mexicanus)in a daily fashion by using forecast data from the Weather Research and Forecasting *** study aimed to exploit freely available geographic and environmental data and software and thus provide a pathway to overcome the lack of costly data and technical guidance that are a challenge to implementing national monitoring and management strategies in developing *** results showed overall agreement values between 60 and 87%.The results of this research can be used for *** monitoring and management and may aid as a model to monitor similar species.

Parking Availability Prediction with Coarse-Grained Human Mobility Data

Nowadays,the anticipation of parking-space demand is an instrumental service in order to reduce traffic congestion levels in urban *** purpose of our work is to study,design and develop a parking-availability predictor that extracts the knowledge from human mobility data,based on the anonymized human displacements of an urban area,and also from weather *** of the existing solutions for this prediction take as contextual data the current road-traffic state defined at very high temporal or spatial ***,access to this type of fine-grained location data is usually quite limited due to several economic or privacy-related *** overcome this limitation,our proposal uses urban areas that are defined at very low spatial and temporal *** conducted several experiments using three Artificial Neural Networks:Multilayer Perceptron,Gated Recurrent Units and bidirectional long Short Term Memory networks and we tested their suitability using different combinations of *** metrics are provided for the sake of comparison within our study and between other *** solution has been evaluated in a real-world testbed in the city of Murcia(Spain)integrating an open human-mobility dataset showing high accuracy.A MAPE between 4%and 10%was reported in horizons of 1 to 3 h.

A new wave of electric vehicles for personal mobility is currently crowding public *** offer a sustainable and efficient way of getting around in urban environments,however,these devices bring additional safety issues,including serious accidents for ***,taking advantage of a connected personal mobility vehicle,we present a novel on-device Machine learning(Ml)-based fall detection system that analyzes data captured from a range of sensors integrated on an on-board unit(OBU)*** the typical processing limitations of these elements,we exploit the potential of the TinyMl paradigm,which enables embedding powerful Ml algorithms in constrained *** have generated and publicly released a large dataset,including real riding measurements and realistically simulated falling events,which has been employed to produce different TinyMl *** attained results show the good operation of the system to detect falls efficiently using embedded *** considered algorithms have been successfully tested on mass-market low-power units,implying reduced energy consumption,flash footprints and running times,enabling new possibilities for this kind of vehicles.
