Objective:To identify the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthiasis(STH)among school-age children in the cagayan Valley,the Philippines,assess their level of awareness on the disease,and determine predisposing factors of the ***:A total of 478 GradesⅢ-Ⅴschool-age children in Pamplona and Sanchez-Mira School districts in the cagayan Valley answered the questionnaire assessing their knowledge,attitude,and practices on STH,subjected to anthropometric measurements,and provided faecal samples for parasitologic assessment(direct smear,Kato-Katz,and formol-ether concentration techniques).Results:The participants of the study,with 55.86%females,were 8 to 14 years *** nutritional status was assessed‘normal’(84.31%),‘severely wasted’(6.49%),‘wasted’(5.23%),‘overweight’(2.72%),and‘obese’(1.26%).The prevalence of infection with at least 1 STH species was 25.99%in Pamplona and 19.40%in ***,the prevalence of heavy intensity was 7.11%for Ascaris lumbricoides and 1.67%for Trichuris *** hookworm infections had light *** majority of the school-age children had a low score in the KAP *** knowledge of STH,‘stunted growth as a symptom of infection’was associated with a lower risk of Ascaris lumbricoides infection(OR 0.448;95%cI 0.212,0.945;P=0.035)while‘playing with soil as a mode of transmission’was associated with an increased risk of Ascaris lumbricoides infection(OR 2.067;95%cI 1.014,4.212;P=0.046).In attitude towards STH,‘I think I have intestinal worm now’was associated with a higher risk of Ascaris lumbricoides infection(OR 1.681;95%cI 1.061,2.662;P=0.027).conclusions:The prevalence rate of Ascaris lumbricoides among the school-age children in the cagayan Valley shows the need to further intensify intervention in the area to meet the threshold set by the World Health *** identified predictors of infection,which concerns the school-age children’s knowledge and attitude toward STH,can be used in augmenting

AIM:To test a strategy for endoscopic submucosal dissection(ESd) training in animal models designed to overcome the initial learning ***:ESd was attempted in ex vivo and in vivo pig *** ESd procedures were attempted in the esophagus(n=9) or the stomach(n=21).The ex vivo model was used until initial competence was *** the in vivo model,several ESd procedures were performed in up to 3 *** following variables were analyzed:specimen size,complete and en bloc resection rate,time for circumferential incision,time for submucosal dissection,total ESd duration,and ***:complete resection was achieved in 28 cases(en bloc 27);2 could not be completed(one perforation,one technical diff iculty).The mean ± Sd time for circumferential incision was 36.2±16.8 min(range:8-87 min),and the mean±Sd time for submucosal dissection was 45.1±35.7 min(range:9-196 min).The mean±Sd size of the resected specimens was 45.2±17.8 *** mean±Sd total resection time was signif icantly increased for the gastric cases performed in the f irst half of the study(n=13) than in the second half(n=8)(98.9±62.4 min vs 61.7±17.6 min,P=0.04),although the specimen size did not ***:Training in animal models could help endoscopists overcome the learning curve before starting ESd in humans.

The production and secretion of antibodies by human plasma cells(Pcs)are two essential processes of humoral *** secretion process relies on a group of proteins known as soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptors(SNAREs),which are located in the plasma membrane(t-SNAREs)and in the antibody-carrying vesicle membrane(v-SNARE),and mediate the fusion of both *** have previously shown that SNAP23 and STX4 are the t-SNAREs responsible for antibody ***,using human Pcs and antibody-secreting cell lines,we studied and characterized the expression and subcellular distribution of vesicle associated membrane protein(VAMP)isoforms,demonstrating that all isoforms(with the exception of VAMP1)are expressed by the referenced ***,the functional role in antibody secretion of each expressed VAMP isoform was tested using *** results show that VAMP2 may be the v-SNARE involved in vesicular antibody *** further support this conclusion,we used tetanus toxin light chain to cleave VAMP2,conducted experiments to verify co-localization of VAMP2 in antibody-carrying vesicles,and demonstrated the coimmunoprecipitation of VAMP2 with STX4 and SNAP23 and the in situ interaction of VAMP2 with *** together,these findings implicate VAMP2 as the main VAMP isoform functionally involved in antibody secretion.

Let （Ω, ∑） be a measurable space and mo ： E→ Xo and m1 ： E → X1 be positive vector measures with values in the Banach KSthe function spaces Xo and X1. If 0 〈 a 〈 1, we define a X01-ax1a new vector measure [m0, m]a with values in the calderdn lattice interpolation space and we analyze the space of integrable functions with respect to measure [m0, m1]a in order to prove suitable extensions of the classical Stein Weiss formulas that hold for the complex interpolation of LP-spaces. Since each p-convex order continuous Kothe function space with weak order unit can be represented as a space of p-integrable functions with respect to a vector measure, we provide in this way a technique to obtain representations of the corresponding complex interpolation spaces. As applications, we provide a Riesz-Thorin theorem for spaces of p-integrable functions with respect to vector measures and a formula for representing the interpolation of the injective tensor product of such spaces.

Objective: To investigate the antifungal activity of the fern species Lygodium venustum(L. venustum) and Pityrogramma calomelanos(P. calomelanos) against candida albicans and candida tropicalis ***: The microdilution method was used to evaluate the antifungal activity, as well as the modulating effects of ethanolic extracts of these plants in combination with fluconazole. The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIc), minimum fungicide concentration and morphological changes were also ***: The extract obtained from L. venustum presented a MIc > 8 192 mg/m L, while the extract obtained from and P. calomelanos presented a MIc = 8 192 mg/m L, indicating that they present weak antifungal activity. However, combination of the extracts with Fluconazole potentiated the antifungal activity of this drug. At different experimental conditions, such as concentration of the extract and type of strain, the extracts inhibited hyphae and pseudohyphae formation, indicating that these fern species can affect the morphology of the ***: The extracts obtained from the fern species L. venustum and P. calomelanos dose not present significant antifungal activity. However, P. calomelanos potentiates the activity of fluconazole and both extracts inhibits the morphological changes in candida species, indicating that they have potential pharmacological activity as modulators of fungal biology. Therefore, novel studies are required to characterize the interference of these extracts in the virulence and pathogenicity of candida species as well as the potential of fern species to treat fungal infections.

The objective of the study was to investigate the effect of the organo-modified nanosepiolite(ONSep)on improving the fire safety of polypropylene(PP).The composites based on PP,flame retardant master batch(MB-FR,25 wt%PP+50 wt%decabromodiphenyl ether(dBdPE)+25%antimony trioxide(ATO))and ONSep were prepared via melt *** results of the limiting oxygen index(LOI)and vertical burning rating(UL-94)test indicated that PP/40 wt%MB composites had no rating with seriously dripping phenomenon,while the LOI value was only ***,as 4 wt%ONSep was added in PP/40 wt%MB composites,the composites achieved UL94 V-0 rating and the LOI value was *** comparison,PP/50 wt%MB composites could not reach the V-0 rating *** TGA results revealed that the addition of ONSep enhanced the thermal stability of the PP/MB-FR *** cone calorimeter results indicated that the heat release rate,average mass loss rate,smoke production rate and smoke temperature of the PP/40 wt%MB-FR/4 wt%ONSep composites decreased in comparison with those of PP/40 wt%MB-FR ***,the Young modulus and impact strength were also much better improved with the increase of ONSep ***,the synergistic flame retardancy of ONSep in PP/MB-FR matrix significantly containing a halogen based flame retardant(dBdPE)significantly improved the fire safety and mechanical properties of the composites,and allowed to decrease the total amount of brominated fire retardants.
