Aluminum-10% TiB master alloy was added in various proportions in 7178 Al alloy in order to examine the effect of TiB on grain refinement, wear and compressive deformation of the later one. Microstructural characterization reveals that TiB particles act as grain refiners for primary base alloy and result in globular dendrites. It was observed that the wear resistance and strength of the alloy decreased when the master alloy addition increased beyond 20%, even though the dendrites become much finer and almost spherical in nature.

Lanthanides are widely used in various commercial applications, which results in public exposure to them, and it is a matter of concern. Many methods were used to remove lanthanides from wastewaters generated from their commercial use. In the present work, nanofiltration membrane process was used to remove the cerium and neodymium from their respective feed solutions. The feed and permeates were analyzed for solute concentration by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy. Irreversible thermodynamics Spiegler-Kedem model, in combination with the film theory, was used to estimate the membrane transport parameters, viz., reflection coefficient of membrane and solute permeability, and mass transfer coefficient to study their dependence on feed solute concentration.

The scope of present work was to study the feasibility of a commercial nanofiltration （NF） membrane to reject Nd（Ⅲ） ions from synthetic aqueous solution. The permeates were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry （ICP-AES） to find Nd（Ⅲ） concentration. Experimental results indicated that the Nd（Ⅲ） rejection increased with increase in applied pressure and feed flow rate; and decreased with increase in feed concentration. Rejection of Nd（Ⅲ） ions using NF membrane were widely influenced by solution pH due to the charged nature of the membrane which changed with the variation in pH. The use ofa surfactant （sodium dodecyl sulphate） in aqueous solution resulted in its adsorption on the membrane surface, thereby changing membrane characteristics, and in turn influencing the rejection. The complexation step induced had also increased the rejection to a greater extent by forming [Nd-EDTA] complex thereby increasing its molecular weight and thus increasing rejection.

Comprehensive investigation on the synthesis and electrical transport behaviors of polycrystalline samples of lanthanum manganite due to static disorder was reported. The process parameters were optimized for different batches to yield variable grain sizes. Different sintering conditions and technique like thermal cycling were employed to obtain better grain packing density. The liquid nitrogen and air quenching of the samples were carried out to restrict the grain growth with well defused grain boundary. Variable grain habits and sizes were synthesized by standard solid-state reaction and modified sol-gel synthesis routes. Large variation of grain size, connectivity and packing was observed by varying sintering temperature and synthesis technique. The process dependent grain sizes were observed in the wide range from 20 nm to 1.5 μm by transmission and scanning electron microscopy, The variations in residual resistivity as well as metal-insulator transitions are observed. The observed data were analyzed on the basis of contributions from various dynamic interactions and static disorders.

Multi-agent technology has been used in many complex distributed and concurrent systems. A railway system is such a safety critical system and careful inves- tigation of the functional components is very important. Study of the various functional components in communi- cation-based train control （CBTC） system necessitates a good structural design followed by its validation and ver- ification through a formal modelling technique. The work presented here is the follow up of our multi-agent-based CBTC system for Indian railway designed using the methodology for engineering system of software agents. Behavioural analysis of the designed system involves several operating scenarios that arise during train run, and helps in understanding the reaction of the system to such situations. This validation and verification are very important as it allows the system designer to critically evaluate the desired function of the system and to correct the design errors, if any, before its actual implementation. Modelling, validation and verification of the structural design through Coloured petri net （CPN） are central to this paper. Analysis of simulation results validates the efficacy of the design.

In complementary metal oxide semiconductor （CMOS） nanoscalc technology, power dissipation is becoming important metric. In this work low leakage voltage controlled ring oscillator circuit system was proposed for critical communication systems with high oscillation frequency. An ideal approach has been presented with substrate biasing technique for reduction of power consumption. The simulation have been completed using cadence virtuoso 45 nm standard CMOS technology at room temperature 27~C with supply voltage Vc^d = 0.7 V. The simulation results suggest that voltage controlled ring oscillator has characterized with efficient low power voltage controlled oscillator （VCO） in term of minimum leakage power （1.23 nW） and maximum oscilla- tion frequency （4.76 GHz） with joint positive channel metal oxide semiconductor and negative channel metal oxide semiconductor （PMOS and NMOS） reverse sub- strate bias technique. PMOS, NMOS and joint reverse body bias techniques have been compared in the presented work.

Two parameter expressions for rotational spectra viz. variable moment of inertia （VMI）, ab formula and three parameter Harris w2 expansion are used to assign the band head spins （I0） of four rotational superdeformed bands in 86Zr. The least-squares fitting method is employed to obtain the band head spins of these four bands in the A - 80 mass region. Model parameters are extracted by fitting of intraband y-ray energies, so as to obtain a minimum root-mean-square （rms） deviation between the calculated and the observed transition energies. The calculated transition energies are found to depend sensitively on the assigned spins. Whenever an accurate band head spin is assigned, the calculated transition energies axe in agreement with the experimental transition energies. The dynamic moment of inertia is also extracted and its variation with rotational frequency is investigated. Since a better agreement of band head spin with experimental results is found using the VMI model, it is a more powerful tool than the ab formula and Harris w2 expansion.

Dengue fever is a disease that is caused by five dengue virus(DENV) serotypes. It is endemic in more than 128 countries. Millions of people are affected by this disease. But still, there is no specific treatment available till now to combat it. Some of the preventive measures using plant extracts showed certain promising ovicidal activity against Aedes aegypti. There are some vaccines as preventive measure and antiviral agents to cure the dengue fever, which are under clinical trials but their results have not been reported or approved yet. Dengvaxia is the only licensed vaccine to prevent dengue fever in some South American countries, but it is not approved by other regulatory authorities worldwide. Scientific research has been going on to find a permanent cure for dengue fever, but till now, no successful invention has been done. There are some general treatments for dengue patient by employing analgesics and fluid replacement; however, specific treatment is needed to overcome the lethal effect of dengue fever. Since this disease has affected millions of people and not much invention has been made in this field; therefore, advancement in dengue therapy is required for the safety and well-being of dengue patients. Herein we collectively describe the different chemotherapeutics agents, alternative methods like vaccines and antiviral agents to prevent and cure this lethal disease. Furthermore, the future perspective for the treatment of dengue is discussed in this review.

This study is concerned with the diagnosis of discrepancies in a steel truss bridge by identifying dynamic properties from the vibration response signals of the *** vibration response signals collected at bridges under three different vehicular speeds of 10 km/hr,20 km/hr,and 30 km/hr are analyzed using statistical features such as kurtosis,magnitude of peak-to-peak,root mean square,crest factor as well as impulse factor in time domain,and Stockwell transform in the time-frequency *** considered statistical features except for kurtosis show uncertain *** Stockwell transform showed low-resolution outcomes when the presence of noise in the recorded vibration *** elimination of noise and extraction of meaningful dynamic properties from the vibration responses is done by applying a new method which comes from the fusion of Hilbert transform with Spectral kurtosis and bandpass *** outcomes obtained from Hilbert transform processed residual signals which are further filtered using bandpass filter show more robustness and accuracy in characterizing bridge modal frequencies from the noisy vibration *** proposed method produces a high-resolution frequency response which can unveil the joint discrepancy in the bridge structure.
