The paper aims to examine the effect of political influence on corporate transparency, and performance of Indonesian listed companies, Seventy-three large public firms from hundred of the largest companies in Indonesia were selected as the sample. Data for corporate transparency are collected from annual reports for the years 2005-2007. Corporate transparency is indexed by the amount of information disclosed in company＇s annual report. The disclosure index reporting model developed in the current research is based on the Annual Report Award （ARA, an award given annually to Indonesian listed and non-listed companies）, and firm performance is measured using two indicators： ROA （return on assets） and Tobin-Q. The political influence variable is proxied by two indicators： government ownership and the existence of politicians in Board of Directors （BOD）. Results demonstrate that contrary to the hypothesis, government ownership （political influence） has positive relation to corporate transparency, as well as to ROA （firm performance）. Results also support the hypothesis that transparency act as a mediating variable for the relationship between political influence and firm performance. However, when political influence is pmxied by existence of politicians in BOD and fm＇n performance proxied by Tobin-Q, data seems to give support to the hypotheses proposed. The discussion and implications of the findings and suggestions for future research arc discussed.

Aluminous refractory materials with high alumina contents are widely used in the steel industry,and the higher the alumina content,the higher the working *** such as high refractoriness and thermal shock resistance lead these refractory materials to be used as channel linings of blast furnaces,where they are exposed to the attack by slag,molten steel,working cycles and sudden temperature changes between 25℃(room temperature)and 1520℃(the temperature of molten pig iron).In this work,microstructural changes in post-mortem aluminous refractory bricks were investigated by apparent porosity,X-ray diffraction analysis(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy,and X-ray dispersion energy spectrometry(SEM/EDS).The results showed an increase in the apparent porosity and the bulk density and the presence of the phases mullite,sillimanite,alumina,and quartz in the post-mortem *** and magnesium were not detected in the microstructure of the post-mortem brick,indicating that slags did not corrode these refractory ***,the microstructural changes that occurred in the post-mortem bricks must be due to thermal *** the X-ray diffraction(XRD)test,mullite,sillimanite,quartz,andα-alumina phases were *** results indicate that the aluminous refractory was obtained from *** infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)it was possible to identify the vibration bands referring to the Si-O and Al-O *** increase in the porosity is a result of cracks caused by work cycles at high temperatures and the temperature gradient to which the refractory was subjected during *** the micrograph it was possible to identify the presence of acicular *** absence of magnesium and calcium in the microanalysis results by energy dispersed X-ray spectrometry(EDS)indicates that there was no infiltration by slag or liquid *** results indicate that the microstructural changes that occurred in t

体内外实验研究均已证明血清胸腺因子(FTS)和胸腺素α_1(THY)是促进淋巴细胞分化并增强其功能的重要因子。它们在血清中水平变化受某些生物因素和疾病的影响,诸如肿瘤、免疫缺陷或衰老等均可导致FTS、THY水平下降;此外胸腺激素在临床中的应用也很普遍,因此血清及其它体液中FTS、THY的定量分析对研究免疫系统疾病具有重要价值。由于目前胸腺肽的生物学检测方法受体液中某些抑制因子的影响,为此我们利用邻苯二甲醛(OPA)与寡肽中ε-甘氨酸残基反应衍生较强荧光的原理,使用OPA柱前衍生法对FTS、THY测定条件进行了研究,并对血清中FTS、THY的提取及测定作了初步探讨,表明本法对体液中游离的FTS。

To identify environmental risk factors associated with the development of Crohn’s disease (CD) in order to re-assess the hygiene hypothesis. METHODSA hospital-based, case-control study was carried out with CD patients (n = 145) and controls (n = 163) representing a socioeconomically diverse statewide catchment area in Brazil. Controls were recruited from caregivers of patients seen in different outpatient clinics at the same hospital. A multi-item survey with 94 questions regarding family history of CD, perinatal and childhood circumstances, living conditions, tobacco use and familial socioeconomic status was carried out by interviewers. RESULTSOn the univariate analysis, predictive variables for CD included being male, under age of 40, a high education level, urban dweller, smaller family size, exposure to enteric pathogens and user of treated water (P riate analysis, variables significantly associated with CD were male gender (OR = 2.09), under age 40 (OR = 3.10), white (OR = 2.32), from a small family in childhood (OR = 2.34) and adulthood (OR = 3.02), absence of viral infections in childhood (OR = 2.23), exposure to enteric pathogens (OR = 2.41), having had an appendectomy (OR = 2.47) and prior or current smoker (OR = 2.83/1.12). CONCLUSIONMost variables supporting the “hygiene hypothesis” are associated with the development of CD but are not independent predictors of the diagnosis.

The paper comprises new analytical data on the nature and occurrence of gold in solid pyrobitumen,closely associated with the main gold-bearing sulfide arsenic ores of the Bakyrchik gold deposit(Kazakhstan),related to post-collisional magmatic-hydrothermal *** mineralization of the deposit occurs mainly in the form of an“invisible”type of gold in the structures of arsenian pyrite and arsenopyrite,and the form of gold-organic compounds of pyrobitumen in carbonaceous-terrigenous sequences of Carboniferous *** and electron microscopic analysis,Raman and FT-Infrared analysis,mineralogical and three-step sequential extraction analysis(NH2OHHCl,H2O2,HNO3?HCl)has been carried out using 9 ore samples(from 3 different types of ores)for a comprehensive study of pyrobitumen and sulfide arsenic ores focusing mainly on organic *** sequentially extracted precious metal content of pyrobitumen reaches up to 7 ppm gold and other metals like Ag 4 ppm,Pt 31 ppb,and Pd 26 ppb,forming metal–organic compounds,while arsenic sulfide minerals incorporate 11 ppm gold,39 ppm Ag,0.49 ppm *** enrichment of gold associating with organic matter and sulfide ore minerals was confirmed in this *** matter was active in the migration of gold and the capture of gold by ***,the reductive organic matter agent released gold,most likely for the sulfide arsenic ore *** was a decisive factor in the concentration,transportation,and preservation of gold in the deposit.

AIM： To determine the incidence of cystoid macular edema（CME） after Descemet＇s stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty（DSAEK）.METHODS： This study included all consecutive patients operated in a Spanish tertiary reference hospital over a period of four years. A total of 55 eyes from 47 patients matched the selection criteria. CME was diagnosed clinically at the slit-lamp and confirmed by optical coherence tomography. RESULTS： Six cases of CME were diagnosed postoperatively, which represented an incidence of 11%. Three patients had previously undergone DSAEK alone（7%; 3/41） and the other three, DSAEK combined with phacoemulsification（21%; 3/14）. Five out of six patients with CME responded to standard ***： CME is a possible complication after DSAEK and can be treated with standard therapy. CME appears more frequently when DSAEK is combined with phacoemulsification and posterior chamber（PC） intraocular lens（IOL） implantation. Intraoperative damage to the corneal endothelial cells might play a role in the pathogenesis of CME. As long as the causes remain unclear, we recommend administering prophylaxis when risk factors are present or when combined surgery is planned.
