Effect of Senescence Retardants on the Quality of Persian Lime Fruits

The objective of this study consisted of evaluating the effect of the application of chitosan(Q),1-methylcyclopropene(1-mCP)under two controlled temperatures on some physical,physiological,and chemical parameters contributing to the quality of Persian lime Citrus latifolia *** treatments were evaluated,resulting from the combination of four senescence retardant applications(Q,1-mCP,1-mCP+Q,and without application)on fruits stored at two temperatures(12/20℃.Epidermis color(luminosity,chromaticity,and hue),fruit appearance,respiration,weight loss,total juice content,total soluble solids,and titratable acidity were registered during the *** results indicate that the 1-mCP and Q combination favored fruit postharvest quality conditions such as reducing respiration rate;maintaining fruit good appearance,turgidity,and brighter fruit chromaticity;fruits treated with chitosan and stored at 12℃,favored total soluble *** the other hand,Variables such as weight loss,juice content,acidity,phenols,flavonoids,antioxidant activity,and hue values were favored by a 12℃ storing temperature regardless of the *** general,the use of modified atmospheres,senescence retardants,and refrigeration as postharvest methods,can increase Persian lime shelf life.

Interferon-gamma(IFN-γ)plays a dual role in cancer;it is both a pro-and an antitumorigenic cytokine,depending on the type of *** deregulation of the IFN-γcanonic pathway is associated with several disorders,including vulner-ability to viral infections,inflammation,and cancer *** particular,the interplay between lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD)and viral infections appears to exist in association with the deregulation of IFN-γ*** this mini-review,we investigated the status of the IFN-γsignaling pathway and the expression level of its components in ***,a reduction in IFNGR1 expression seems to be associated with LUAD progression,affecting defenses against viruses such as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus *** addition,alterations in the expression of IFNGR1 may inhibit the antiproliferative action of IFN-γsignaling in LUAD.

Background: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an established treatment for patients with advanced Parkinson’s disease (PD). Reports show continued patient satisfaction after surgery despite not maintaining clinical improvement as measured by evolution scales. Objectives: The present study sought to explore expectations and level of satisfaction in patients after DBS surgery with a semi-structured questionnaire and subsequent correlation with functional scales, Quality of Life (QoL), and motor and non-motor symptoms. methods: We performed descriptive statistics to represent demographic data, Wilcoxon rank tests to determine significant differences, and Spearman correlation between the applied scales. Results: We evaluated 20 patients with a history of DBS surgery. 45% were female, with a mean age of 55.7 ± 14.15 years, a mean disease duration of 13.42 ± 8.3 years, and a mean time after surgery of 3.18 ± 1.86 years. Patients reported surgery meeting expectations in 85.5% and continued satisfaction in 92%. These two variables showed a significant correlation. Conclusions: This sample of patients remained satisfied after DBS surgery, although we found no differences in motor and non-motor clinimetric scales. Further studies are needed to confirm the importance of assessing quality of life in patients with DBS.

Evaluating physical changes of iron oxide nanoparticles due to surface modification with oleic acid

The physical characterization of a colloidal system of superficially modified magnetic nanoparticles (mNPs) is presented. The system consists of oleic acid-coated iron oxide nanoparticles (OAmNP) suspended in water. A structural analysis is carried out by using standard physical techniques to determine the diameter and shape of the mNPs and also the width of the coating shell. The colloidal stability and the polydispersity index of this ferrofluid are determined by using Zeta potential measurements. Additionally, the magnetic characterization is conducted by obtaining the DC magnetization loops, and the blocking temperatures are determined according to the ZFC–FC protocol. Finally, the values of power absorption density P of the ferrofluid are estimated by using a magneto-calorimetric procedure in a wide range of magnetic field amplitude H and frequency f. The experimental results exhibit spherical-like shape of OAmNP with (20 ± 4) nm in diameter. Due to the use of coating process, the parameters of the magnetization loops and the blocking temperatures are significantly modified. Hence, while the uncoated mNPs show a blocking state of the magnetization, the OAmNP are superparamagnetic above room temperature (300 K). Furthermore, the reached dependence P versus f and P versus H of the ferrofluid with coated mNPs are clearly fitted to linear and quadratic correlations, respectively, showing their accordance with the linear response theory.

Experimental investigations of transient pressure variations in a high head model Francis turbine during start-up and shutdown

Penetration of the power generated using wind and solar energy to electrical grid network causing several incidents of the grid tripping, power outage, and frequency drooping. This has increased restart （star-stop） cycles of the hydroelectric turbines significantly since grid connected hydroelectric turbines are widely used to manage critical conditions of the grid. Each cycle induces significant stresses due to unsteady pressure loading on the runner blades. The presented work investigates the pressure loading to a high head （ He = 377 m, De = 1.78 m） Francis turbine during start-stop. The measurements were carried out on a scaled model turbine （Hm = 12.5 m, Dm = 0.349 m）. Total four operating points were considered. At each operating point, three schemes of guide vanes opening and three schemes of guide vanes closing were investigated. The results show that total head variation is up to 9% during start-stop of the turbine. On the runner blade, the maximum pressure amplitudes are about 14 kPa and 16 kPa from the instantaneous mean value of 121 kPa during rapid start-up and shutdown, respectively, which are about 1.5 times larger than that of the slow start-up and shutdown. moreover, the maximum pressure fluctuations are given at the blade trailing edge.

Caerulin-induced pancreatitis in rats: Histological and genetic expression changes from acute phase to recuperation

AIm： To study the histological and pancreatitis-associated protein mRNA accumulation changes of pancreas from acute phase of caerulin-induced pancreatitis to recuperation in rats. mETHODS： Acute pancreatitis was induced by caerulein in male Wistar rats and followed up for 90 d by histological and mRNA analyses of pancreas. Pancreases were dissected at 0, 9, 24 h and 3, 5, 15, 30, 60, 90 d post-induction. Edema （E）, polymorphonuclear neutrophU （pIVlN） infiltration, cytoplasmic vacuolization （V）, zymogen granule depletion （ZD） and acinar disorganization （AD） were microscopically evaluated. Accumulation of pancreatitis- associated protein （PAP） and L13A mRNAs were quantified by real-time PCR. RESULTS： The main histological changes appeared at 9 h post-induction for PmN infiltration and cytoplasmic V, while at 24 h and 3 d for E and ZD, respectively. All the parameters were recovered after 5 d, except for ZD which delayed more than 30 d. The main AD was observed after 15 d and values returned to normal after 30 d. Similarly to histological changes, accumulation of the PAP mRNA was increased at 9 h with the highest accumulation at 24 h and differences disappeared after 5 d. CONCLUSION： From the acute phase to recuperation of pancreatitis, regeneration and re-differentiation of pan- creas occur and PAP expression is exclusively an acute response of pancreatitis.

medicago truncatula is a model legume species that has been studied for decades to understand the symbiotic relationship between legumes and soil bacteria collectively named *** symbiosis called nodulation is initiated in roots with the infection of root hair cells by the bacteria,as well as the initiation of nodule primordia from root cortical,endodermal,and pericycle cells,leading to the development of a new root organ,the nodule,where bacteria fix and assimilate the atmospheric dinitrogen for the benefit of the ***,we report the isolation and use of the nuclei from mock and rhizobia-inoculated roots for the single nuclei RNA-seq(sNucRNA-seq)profiling to gain a deeper understanding of early responses to rhizobial infection in medicago roots.A gene expression map of the medicago root was generated,comprising 25 clusters,which were annotated as specific cell types using 119 medicago marker genes and orthologs to Arabidopsis cell-type marker genes.A focus on root hair,cortex,endodermis,and pericycle cell types,showing the strongest differential regulation in response to a short-term(48 h)rhizobium inoculation,revealed not only known genes and functional pathways,validating the sNucRNA-seq approach,but also numerous novel genes and pathways,allowing a comprehensive analysis of early root symbiotic responses at a cell type-specific level.

在畜禽饲料中加入亚治疗量抗生素来提高动物生产性能的做法已有60多年历史,然而,抗生素添加剂的安全性问题一直是争论焦点。支持和反对使用抗生素添加剂都还未有足够证据。但考虑到抗生素"潜在"或"可能"对人类健康存在危害性,许多国家或地区正在着手限制甚至完全禁止抗生素添加剂的使用。最近,美国食品和药物管理中心颁布一系列"产业指导文件"以解决耐药性和药物残留问题。事实上,如果对抗生素添加剂进行良好控制,促生长类抗生素以亚治疗剂量应用于动物饲料,可以预防和控制肠道疾病、改善动物营养状况、促进动物生长、提高饲料效率、加强食品安全和提高动物福利。美国佐治亚大学Hector ***在第24届世界家禽大会上对此进行了概述。
