Big open data comprising comprehensive,long-term atmospheric and ecosystem in-situ observations will give us tools to meet global grand challenges and to contribute towards sustainable *** Nations’Sustainable Development Goals(UN SDGs)provide framework for the *** present synthesis on how Station for Measuring Earth Surface-Atmosphere Relations(SMEAR)observation network can contribute to UN *** describe SMEAR II flagship station in Hyytiälä,*** more than 1200 variables measured in an integrated manner,we can under-stand interactions and feedbacks between biosphere and *** contributes towards understanding impacts of climate change to natural ecosystems and feedbacks from ecosys-tems to *** benefits of SMEAR concept are highlighted through outreach project in Eastern Lapland utilizing SMEAR I observations from Värriöresearch *** contrast to boreal environment,SMEAR concept was also deployed in *** underline the benefits of comprehensive observations to gain novel insights into complex interactions between densely popu-lated urban environment and *** observations enable work towards solving air quality problems and improve the quality of life inside *** network of comprehensive stations with various measurements will enable science-based deci-sion making and support sustainable development by providing long-term view on spatio-temporal trends on atmospheric compo-sition and ecosystem parameters.

In a commentary paper in the Journal of Sport and Health Science,world-renowned physical activity researchers,Barbara Ainsworth and James Sallis,discussed the opportunities arising from the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games for increasing physical activity in youth.1 Moreover,a clarion call from the Asia-Pacific Society for Physical Activity has been made concerning the physical activity legacy that could arise from the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane,Australia(see:ASPA vision for Olympic legacy-ASPA(***)).

Social and Emotional Learning in Sport and Exercise

The concept of social and emotional competence, which is a product of social and emotional learning（SEL）, will be introduced in the context of sport and exercise. Research demonstrates that SEL promotes academic success, prevents antisocial behaviors, and enhances physical and psychological health. Sport has been proposed as an ideal context to promote personal and social developmental skills, however, few studies have examined the application of sport as an SEL platform. Social and emotional skills are not caught but need to be taught to coaches, teachers, sport instructors, and athletes through demonstration, modeling, discussions, reflections on one’s experiences and practice. Mere sport and physical activity participation does not teach these skills. Even though physical education and most sport organizations have goals related to social and emotional skills, such as personal development, fair play and character education, coaches seldom seek to improve these skills by applying a specific *** and Emotional Learning seeks to address youth behavior by building five core competencies（i.e., self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, building positive relationships, and making healthy decisions）. These competencies, in turn, should provide a foundation for better adjustment and performance as reflected in more positive social behaviors, less emotional distress, and improved success in sport and life. SEL programs also increase social and emotional development by establishing a safe and caring learning environment in which children and adults can be actively engaged in sports. The topic of SEL is critical because most youth sport organizations have social-emotional development as one of their primary goals, and they use such terms as social-emotional growth or life skills training. Examples of SEL related life skills programs and research done in the field will be introduced.
