Why neurogenesis is attenuated in elderly individuals is an intriguing question that has raised renewed *** associated with declined neurogenesis in the aged brain have been attributed to inflammatory cytokines[1].More recently,a specific role for interferon-y(IFN-y)produced by CD8-expressing cytotoxic T cells has been implicated[2].These observations suggest a scenario in which neurogenesis,at least in part,is regulated by immune cells within the aging *** raises several interesting questions with regards to the characteristics of specific immune cells within the brain,the signals for their expansion and maintenance,and their role in affecting neurogenesis and cognition during normal brain aging.

Renewable energies have a high impact on power energy production and reduction of environmental pollution worldwide,so high efforts have been made to improve renewable technologies and research about *** paper presents the thermal performance results obtained by simulation and experimental tests of a parabolic trough collector with central receiver coupled to Fresnel lens,under different configurations on the *** simulation method was computational fluid dynamics(CFD)analysis in SolidWorks(R)soft-ware tool,which works with Naiver-Stokes equations to converge on a *** tests were formed with all configurations proposed and three observations for each one,a total of 12 observations were performed in all *** a result,the best thermal performance in simulation was achieved with the Fresnel lens and black pipe collector,with a maximum temperature of 116℃under 1000 W/m^2 radiation,the same system achieved in experimental tests a maximum temperature of 96℃with a radiation of 983 W/m^2.

AIM: To evaluate the effect of systemic ozonated major autohaemotherapy (O3-AHT) in patients affected by dry age related macular degeneration (AMD). METHODS: This study was a randomized, controlled clinical study. One hundred and forty patients with the diagnosis of AMD in both eyes, with the study eye presenting dry AMD and soft drusen, were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either receive 27 major ozonated autohemotherapy treatments during 12-month period, or a standardized multi-vitamin therapy. Primary outcome was the change in best corrected visual acuity (mean logMar change) between the baseline and 6 and 12 months, end point of the study. In addition, to investigate the safety of prolonged ozonated autohaemotherapy, we measured the routine haemato- chemical parameters and biochemical oxidative stress values at baseline and after 12 months treatment time. RESULTS: The mean baseline best corrected visual acuity in study eyes was 0.36 in the treatment group and 0.38 in the control group (difference not statistically significant). At the primary endpoint, 6 months post-baseline, the mean logMAR change in the treated group improved by 0.1 and the values of the control group at the same time impaired by 0.2 respect to the baseline. Four percent and twenty-five percent of eyes in the group treated with O3-AHT gained 1 or more lines after 6 and 12 months respectively compared to 0% in the eyes which received no treatment (P <0.05 at 12 months). None of the treated patients experienced a loss in visual acuity in their study eye at 6 and 12 months, compared to 16% and 40 % of patients in the control group who lost 2 lines or more at 6 months and 12 months respectively (P <0.05 treated vs control group)). Major ozonated autohemotherapy was shown to be safe and well- tolerated by the patients. Moreover, the haematochemical parameters showed a decrease in the Reactive Oxygen Metabolites (300±10.1 UCARR at 12 months compared to a baseline value of 380±10.4 UCARR, P <0.05

Neurotrophins play a major role in the regulation of neuronal growth such as neurite sprouting or regeneration in response to nerve injuries. The role of nerve growth factor, neurotrophin-3, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor in maintaining the survival of peripheral neurons remains poorly understood. In regenerative medicine, different modalities have been investigated for the delivery of growth factors to the injured neurons, in search of a suitable system for clinical applications. This study was to investigate the influence of nerve growth factor, neurotrophin-3 and brain-derived neurotrophic factor on the growth of neurites using two in vitro models of dorsal root ganglia explants and dorsal root ganglia-derived primary cell dissociated cultures. Quantitative data showed that the total neurite length and tortuosity were differently influenced by trophic factors. Nerve growth factor and, indirectly, brain-derived neurotrophic factor stimulate the tortuous growth of sensory fibers and the formation of cell clusters. Neurotrophin-3, however, enhances neurite growth in terms of length and linearity allowing for a more organized and directed axonal elongation towards a peripheral target compared to the other growth factors. These findings could be of considerable importance for any clinical application of neurotrophic factors in peripheral nerve regeneration. Ethical approval was obtained from the Regione Piemonte Animal Ethics Committee ASLTO1(file # 864/2016-PR) on September 14, 2016.

Mussels close their shell as a protective strategy and the quantification of this behavioral marker may represent an alarm signal when they are exposed to environmental *** the present study,we investigated the ability of the Mediterranean mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis to recover and then the resilience or inertia of valve activity after a pulsing exposition to diverse levels of salinity(5,10,20,and 35 PSU as reference value).The trial simulated an event of drastic and sudden reduction of seawater salinity thus mimicking an event of flash flood from intense *** gaping and movements were measured in continuous cycle for 10 days using a customized magnetoelectric device which uses Hall *** showed that under normal conditions of salinity(35 PSU),the general pattern of valve movements was a continuously open state with sporadic spikes indicating a closing *** salinity of 5,PSU mussels reacted by closing their valves,leading to a 77%mortality on the 4th *** salinity of 10,PSU animals were observed with closed valves for the entire duration of the exposure and no mortality occurred,they showed a significant reduction in the valve activity once the reference value of salinity was *** contrast,salinity of 20 PSU did not trigger a significant behavioral ***,there no define rhythms of valve movements were recorded during salinity challenges.

The extracellular matrix(ECM)is a non-cellular three-dimensional structure present in all tissues that is essential for the intestinal maintenance,function and structure,as well as for providing physical support for tissue integrity and *** enables the regulation of various processes involved in tissue homeostasis,being vital for healing,growth,migration and cell ***,ECM is composed of water,polysaccharides and proteins,such as collagen fibers and proteoglycans,which are specifically arranged for each *** pathological scenarios,such as inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),the deposition and remodeling of the ECM can be altered in relation to the homeostatic ***,such as Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease,can be differentiated according to ECM alterations,such as circulating levels of collagen,laminin and vimentin *** this context,ECM presents parti-cularities in both physiological and pathological processes,however,exploring methods of tissue decellularization is emerging as a promising frontier for new therapeutic interventions and clinical protocols,promoting the development of new approaches to intestinal diseases.
