Achieving continuous innovation in organizations requires a balance between exploiting yet acquired knowledge and exploring new knowledge. In addition to having the adequate resources, change and innovation capabilities require specific management support and organizational structures. Recent research has pointed out the importance of social network structure and of the activity of agents that work across domains or disciplines in the innovation-oriented behaviour of organizations. As a consequence, information systems should ideally be able to support the analysis, development and management of such social structure for the benefit of organizational objectives. Current social network interfaces provide an established mental model to workers that can be hypothesized to be adequate for supporting activities that foster innovative behaviour. That behaviour is facilitated through exposing the activities of other workers across organizational structures. This paper reports on the design of a user interface specifically targeted to manage the social aspects of innovation based on some aspects of Hargadon＇s model of innovation and knowledge brokering. The emergent nature of interactions in social network sites is used as the metaphor to foster situated cognition. The interface design assessment is described and some metrics for innovative behaviour that could be derived for such an interface are sketched.

The paper focuses on the optimal control of natural resources in mining industry. The purpose is to pro- pose an optimal extraction series of these resources during the lifetime of the Mine＇s maintenance. Fol- lowing the proposed optimal control model, a sensitivity analysis has been performed that includes the interest rate impact on the optimal solution. This study shows that the increasing of the interest rate sti- mulates faster extraction of the resources. The discounting factor induces that the resource has to be extracted faster hut this effect is counterbalanced by the diminishing returns of the annual cash flow. At higher parameters of ＂alpha＂ close to one of the power function about 80% from the whole resource will be extracted during the first 4 years of object/mine maintenance. An existence of unique positive root with respect to return of investment has been proposed and proved by two ways： by the ＂method of chords＂ and by using specialized software.

AIM： To evaluate surgical outcomes（sOs） and visual outcomes（VOs） in cataract surgery comparing the Centurion？ phacoemulsification system（CPs） with the Infiniti？ phacoemulsification system（IPs）.METHODs： Prospective, consecutive study in a singlesite private practice. Totally 412 patients undergoing cataract surgery with either the CPs using the 30-degree balanced？ tip（n=207） or the IPs using the 30-degree Kelman？ tip（n=205）. Intraoperative and postoperative outcomes were documented prospectively up to one month follow-up. Nuclear sclerosis（Ns） grade, cumulated dissipated energy（CDE）, preoperative corrected distance visual acuity（CDVA）, and CDVA at one month were recorded. REsULTs： CDE was 13.50% less in the whole CPs compared with the whole IPs subcohort. In eyes with Ns grade III or greater, CDE was 28.87% less with CPs（n=70） compared with IPs（n=44）（P=0.010）. surgical complications were not statistically different between the two subcohorts（P=0.083）, but in the one case of vitreous loss using the CPs, CDVA of 6/4 was achieved at one month. The mean CDVAs（VOs） at one month for Ns grade III and above cataracts were-0.17 log MAR（6/4.5） in the CPs and-0.15 log MAR（6/4.5） in the IPs subcohort respectively（P=0.033）.CONCLUsION： CDE is 28.87% less, and VOs are significantly improved, in denser cataracts in the CPs compared with the IPs. The authors recommend the CPs for cases with denser nuclei.

Multi-place nonlocal systems have attracted attention from many *** this paper,we mainly review the recent progresses on two-place nonlocal systems(Alice-Bob systems)and four-place nonlocal ***-place systems can firstly be derived from many physical problems by using a multiple scaling method with a discrete symmetry group including parity,time reversal,charge conjugates,rotations,field reversal and exchange *** nonlocal systems can also be derived from the symmetry reductions of coupled nonlinear systems via discrete symmetry *** the other hand,to solve multi-place nonlocal systems,one can use the symmetry-antisymmetry separation approach related to a suitable discrete symmetry group,such that the separated systems are coupled local *** using the separation method,all the known powerful methods used in local systems can be applied to nonlocal *** this review article,we take two-place and four-place nonlocal nonlinear schr?dinger(NLs)systems and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili(KP)equations as simple examples to explain how to derive and solve *** types of novel physical and mathematical points related to the nonlocal systems are especially emphasized.

Nitric oxide removal by wastewater bacteria in a biotrickling filter

Nitric oxide （NO） is one of the most important air pollutants in atmosphere mainly emitted from combustion source. A biotriclding filter was designed and operated to remove NO from an air stream using bacteria extracted from the sewage sludge of a municipal sewage treatment plant. To obtain the best operation conditions for the biotrickling filter, orthogonal experiments （L9（34）） were designed. Inlet oxygen concentration was found to be the most significant factor of the biotrickling filter and has a significant negative effect on the system. The optimal conditions of the biotrickling filter occurred at a temperature of 40℃, a pH of 8.0 and a chemical oxygen demand of 165 mg/L in the recycled water with no oxygen in the system. The bacteria sample was detected by DNA sequencing technology and showed 93%-98% similarity to Pseudomonas mendocina. Moreover, a full gene sequencing results indicated the bacterium was a brand new strain and named as P. mendocina DLHK. This strain can transfer nitrate to organic nitrogen. The result suggested the assimilation nitrogen process in this system. Through the isotope experimental analysis, two intermediate products （^15NO and ^15N2O） were found. The results indicated the denitrification function and capability of the biotrickling filter in removing NO.

shape-memory effect(sME) is the ability of a material to change its dimension in a predefined way in response to an external stimulus. Polymers that exhibit sME are an important class of materials in medicine, especially for minimally invasive deployment of devices. However, the rate of translation of the concept to approved products is extremely low, with mostly nitinolbased devices being approved. In this review, the general aspects of the different types of stimuli that can be used to activate sME are reviewed and sterilization issues of shape-memory polymer(sMP)-based medical devices are addressed. In addition, the general usefulness as well as the limitations of the shape-memory effect for biomedical applications are described.

We proposed a novel solution schema called the Hierarchical Labeling schema （HLs） to answer reachability queries in directed graphs. Different from many existing approaches that focus on static directed acyclic graphs （DAGs）, our schema focuses on directed cyclic graphs （DCGs） where vertices or arcs could be added to a graph incrementally. Unlike many of the traditional approaches, HLs does not require the graph to be acyclic in constructing its index. Therefore, it could, in fact, be applied to both DAGs and DCGs. When vertices or arcs are added to a graph, the HLs is capable of updating the index incrementally instead of re-computing the index from the scratch each time, making it more efficient than many other approaches in the practice. The basic idea of HLs is to create a tree for each vertex in a graph and link the trees together so that whenever two vertices are given, we can immediately know whether there is a path between them by referring to the appropriate trees. We conducted extensive experiments on both real-world datasets and synthesized datasets. We compared the performance of HLs, in terms of index construction time, query processing time and space consumption, with two state-of-the-art methodologies, the path-tree method and the 3-hop method. We also conducted simulations to model the situation when a graph is updated incrementally. The performance comparison of different algorithms against HLs on static graphs has also been studied. Our results show that HLs is highly competitive in the practice and is particularly useful in the cases where the graphs are updated frequently.
