This paper makes a technical analysis of the methods to increase the energy efficiency of washing machines for student *** from the definition given by the Energy Efficiency Index,the present analysis proposes two methods for increasing the energy efficiency of the washing machines by modifying the standard annual energy consumption(SAEc)and by modifying the annual energy consumption(AEc).These two methods are made per kilogram of clothes for washing machines from the same brand in different energy classes and for washing machines of two different *** models analyzed were chosen according to their energy rating A++and A+++.The results of this analysis propose the energy savings as an energy indicator to inform buyers in choosing a brand and energy class of the washing machine.

AIM: To evaluate the treatment of pediatric functional chronic intestinal constipation (FCIC) with a probiotic goat yogurt. METHODS: A crossover double-blind formula-controlled trial was carried out on 59 students (age range: 5-15 years) of a public school in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, presenting a FCIC diagnostic, according to Roma Ⅲ criteria. The students were randomized in two groups to receive a goat yogurt supplemented with 109 colony forming unit/mL Bifidobacterium longum (***) (probiotic) daily or only the yogurt for a period of 5 wk (formula). Afterwards, the groups were intercrossed for another 5 wk. Defecation frequency, stool consistency and abdominal and defecation pain were ***: Both treatment groups demonstrated improvement in defecation frequency compared to baseline. However, the group treated with probiotic showed most signif icant improvement in the f irst phase of the study. An inversion was observed after crossing over, resulting in a reduction in stool frequency when this group was treated by formula. Probiotic and formula improved stool consistency in the f irst phase of treatment, but the improvement obtained with probiotic was significantly higher (P = 0.03). In the second phase of treatment, the group initially treated with probiotic showed worseningstool consistency when using formula. However, the difference was not signif icant. A signif icant improvement in abdominal pain and defecation pain was observed with both probiotic and formula in the first phase of treatment, but again the improvement was more signif icant for the group treated with B. longum during phase I (P < 0.05). When all data of the crossover study were analyzed, significant differences were observed between probiotic yogurt and yogurt only for defecation frequency (P = 0.012), defecation pain (P = 0.046) and abdominal pain (P = 0.015).

A Forest Growth Dynamic Indicator

The dynamics of forest growth are related to the succession stage, the quality of the environment and the degree of anthropism. The growth of a forest is given by the activity of live trees, mortality, and trees that are cut or recruited during the growing period. A way of representing the growth dynamics of a forest is by the Transition Matrix, with the divisibility of the population in states, with probabilities of movement from one state to another, over time. Forest dynamics studies are carried out by means of a continuous forest inventory, allowing the calculation of gains and losses in basal area, mortality rates and ingrowth. In this study, the measurements were performed with a 5-year interval, on 27 plots distributed in 12 sites. The methodology correlated parameters of the forest dynamics with canopy, soil, relief and hydrographic parameters. An indicator of forest growth dynamics was proposed and it was tested. It was confirmed that the density factor interferes in growth dynamics of the forest.

Premature infants, especially those born with less than 1500 g, often exhibit slow overall growth. Lack of early nutritional support is an important element. The present authors describe parenteral nutritional practices in a tertiary hospital and evaluate postnatal growth of preterm infants under 32 weeks of gestational age or with a birth weight < 1500 g. For population study, we examined 431 newborn files. Their median gestational age was 29.7 weeks. Of them, 25.4% were small for gestational age (SGA). 77.5% received parenteral nutrition (PN), 54.5% of which was provided on the first day. The average time was 14.7 days. The average weight gain by the 30th day was 425 g. At discharge, 37% were rd month 20% had their weight under P3, decreasing to 10% by the 12th month. Children who initiated PN in the first 24 hours of life had significantly better weight on the 30th day of their life (p th month of corrected age (p = 0.038). And they had better Body Mass Index (BMI) in the 3rd (p = 0.012) and 12th (p = 0.023) months. Despite better feeding practices, there is still significant failure in post natal growth. Early introduction of PN was associated with an improved weight gain, which suggests that nutrition that included amino acids may be critical during the first 24 hours of life.

Meningococcal disease is the acute infection caused by Neisseria meningitidis, which has humans as the only natural host. The disease is widespread around the globe and is known for its epidemical potential and high rates of lethality and morbidity. The highest number of cases of the disease is registered in the semi-arid regions of sub-Saharan Africa. In Brazil, it is endemic with occasional outbreaks, epidemics and sporadic cases occurring throughout the year, especially in the winter. The major epidemics of the disease occurred in Brazil in the 70's caused by serogroups A and C. Serogroups B, C and Y represent the majority of cases in Europe, the Americas and Australia. However, there has been a growing increase in serogroup W in some areas. The pathogen transmission happens for respiratory route(droplets) and clinically can lead to meningitis and sepsis(meningococcemia). The treatment is made with antimicrobial and supportive care. For successful prevention, we have some measures like vaccination, chemoprophylaxis and droplets' precautions. In this review, we have described and clarify clinical features of the disease caused by N. meningitidis regarding its relevance for healthcare professionals.

A strategy for out-of-roundness damage wheels identification in railway vehicles based on sparse autoencoders

Wayside monitoring is a promising cost-effective alternative to predict damage in the rolling stock. The main goal of this work is to present an unsupervised methodology to identify out-of-roundness(OOR) damage wheels, such as wheel flats and polygonal wheels. This automatic damage identification algorithm is based on the vertical acceleration evaluated on the rails using a virtual wayside monitoring system and involves the application of a two-step procedure. The first step aims to define a confidence boundary by using(healthy) measurements evaluated on the rail constituting a baseline. The second step of the procedure involves classifying damage of predefined scenarios with different levels of severities. The proposed procedure is based on a machine learning methodology and includes the following stages:(1) data collection,(2) damage-sensitive feature extraction from the acquired responses using a neural network model, i.e., the sparse autoencoder(SAE),(3) data fusion based on the Mahalanobis distance, and(4) unsupervised feature classification by implementing outlier and cluster analysis. This procedure considers baseline responses at different speeds and rail irregularities to train the SAE model. Then, the trained SAE is capable to reconstruct test responses(not trained) allowing to compute the accumulative difference between original and reconstructed signals. The results prove the efficiency of the proposed approach in identifying the two most common types of OOR in railway wheels.

Factors that Affect Pellet Quality： A Review

Pelleting is the most popular thermal processing technique in poultry industry. Birds fed pelleted diets have greater feed intake and weight gain, and better feed conversion ratio. However, this better performance can only be achieved, if the pellets remain intact until they are ingested by the birds. Many factors may affect pellet physical quality, such as feed nutritional composition, ingredient particle size, conditioning temperature and time, feed moisture, etc.. Despite their importance, sometimes these factors are not managed properly, therefore, pelleted feed may not contain a high amount of intact pellets. In addition, the possible interactions among these variables may yield different responses in comparison with those expected when individual factors are considered. Very few experiments have been conducted to evaluate the impact of combined factors on pellet quality. This may be explained by the presence of many qualitative and quantitative factors in the manufacturing process. Research indicates that heat processing and feed formulation, especially fat inclusion level, are the factors which have the biggest influence on pellet quality. Strategies, such as the expansion process and fat inclusion restriction or post pellet liquid fat application could be implemented to produce high physical quality pellets. More research is needed to identify which factors have a positive or negative effect on pelleting process and to find new strategies to improve pellet physical quality.

Successful cetuximab rechallenge in metastatic colorectal cancer:A case report

BACKGROUND Metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)treatment has been evolving and increasingly driven by tumor biology and gene expression *** with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)inhibitors(anti-EGFR)represents a promising strategy for patients with RAS wild-type(RAS-wt)mCRC and circulating tumor DNA has emerged as a potential selection ***,we report the case of a RAS-wt mCRC patient who had a successful response to cetuximab *** SUMMARY Our patient was diagnosed with stage IV RAS-wt,microsatellite-stable rectosigmoid junction *** was started on first-line treatment with FOLFIRI and cetuximab and achieved partial response,allowing for a left hepatectomy(R0),followed by post-operative chemotherapy and an anterior resection;progression-free survival(PFS)of 16 months was *** to hepatic and nodal relapse,second-line treatment with FOLFOX and bevacizumab was started with partial response;metastasectomy was performed(R0),achieving a PFS of 11 *** a 15 months anti-EGFR-free interval,FOLFIRI and cetuximab were reintroduced upon disease progression,again with partial response and a PFS of 16 *** extensive hepatic relapse,cetuximab was reintroduced and a marked clinical and analytical improvement was seen,after only one *** status was confirmed on circulating tumor *** patient’s overall survival exceeded 5 *** Our case provides real-world data to support cetuximab rechallenge in later lines of RAS-wt mCRC treatment.

Interleukin-6(IL-6)is a pleiotropic cytokine involved in prostate regulation and in prostate cancer(PC)development/***-6 acts as a paracrine and autocrine growth stimulator in benign and tumor prostate *** levels of IL-6 and respective receptors are increased during prostate carcinogenesis and tumor *** studies reported that increased serum and plasma IL-6 and soluble interleukin-6 receptor levels are associated with aggressiveness of the disease and are associated with a poor prognosis in PC *** PC treatment,patients diagnosed with advanced stages are frequently submitted to hormonal castration,although most patients will eventually fail this therapy and die from recurrent castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC).Therefore,it is important to understand the mechanisms involved in *** pathways have been proposed to be involved in CRPC development,and their understanding will improve the way to more effective *** fact,the prostate is known to be dependent,not exclusively,on androgens,but also on growth factors and *** signaling pathway mediated by IL-6 may be an alternative pathway in the CRPC phenotype acquisition and cancer progression,under androgen deprivation *** principal goal of this review is to evaluate the role of IL-6 pathway signaling in human PC development and progression and discuss the interaction of this pathway with the androgen recepto ***,we intend to evaluate the inclusion of IL-6 and its receptor levels as a putative new class of tumor *** IL-6/IL-6R signaling pathway may be included as a putative molecular marker for aggressiveness in PC and it may be able to maintain tumor growth through the AR pathway under androgen-deprivation *** importance of the IL-6/IL-6R pathway in regulation of PC cells makes it a good candidate for targeted therapy.
