We present and compare twoﬂexible and effective methodologies to predict disturbance zones ahead of underground tunnels by using elastic full-waveform *** methodology uses a linearized,iterative approach based on misﬁt gradients computed with the adjoint method while the other uses iterative,gradient-free unscented Kalmanﬁltering in conjunction with a level-set *** the former does not involve a priori assumptions on the distribution of elastic properties ahead of the tunnel,the latter intro-duces a massive reduction in the number of explicit model parameters to be inverted for by focusing on the geometric form of potential disturbances and their average elastic *** imaging methodologies are validated through successful reconstructions of simple *** an application,we consider an elastic multiple disturbance *** using identical synthetic time-domain seismo-grams as test data,we obtain satisfactory,albeit different,reconstruction results from the two inversion *** computa-tional costs of both approaches are of the same order of magnitude,with the gradient-based approach showing a slight *** model parameter space reduction approach compensates for this by additionally providing a posteriori estimates of model parameter uncertainty.

Four sets of mono-element (ME) and two kinds of multifilament (MF) internal-Sn Nb3Sn superconducting strands were designed and fabricated through RRP method in which different compoment ratios, various composite configurations and some third element alloying were arranged. All the strand samples underwent a 210°C/50 h + 340°C/25 h thermal duration for Cu-Sn alloying. After that A15 phase formation heat treatment (HT) was applied for which the ME samples were chosen at three reaction temperatures of 675°C, 700°C and 725°C for 100 h and 200 h while the MF samples at four temperatures of 650°C, 675°C, 700°C and 725°C for 128 h and 200 h. The heat-treated samples were examined for A15 phase composition distribution by X-ray EDS. SQUID magnetization measurement was used to determine critical temperature TC. The obtained results demonstrate that for fully-reacted internal-Sn Nb3Sn superconductors the A15 phase composition and the intrinsic property TC are determined by the diffusion and solid state reaction mechanism and are independent of the factors including HT temperature, strand composite component and configuration arrangement, and the third element addition within the experimental range.

A robust stratigraphic framework and a coherent depositional ramp model for the Zitai,Dawan,Meitan and Ningkuo formations of Floian–Darriwilian age(Early–Middle Ordovician)in the Yangtze(Daoba,Xiangshuidong,Daling,Gudongkou and Honghuayuan sections)and Jiangnan regions(Nanba section)was created based on lithofacies and major element *** siliciclastic(LF1–3)and six carbonate(LF4–9)lithofacies are recognized representing sediments that were deposited in mixed siliciclastic and carbonate ramp *** intensity of mixed sedimentation and terrigenous input were evaluated using the elemental proxies Intensity of Mixed sedimentation(IM)and Aluminum Accumulation Rate(Al AR),as well as their mean values during certain time *** sediments are most well-developed along the marginal Yangtze region,strongly impacted by recurrent influx of westerly derived terrigenous materials in response to global eustatic changes and regional tectonic movements,shaping the gently southeast-dipping *** terrigenous influx resulted in periods of enhanced primary productivity on the Yangtze Ramp as evidenced by matching biodiversity peaks in planktonic organisms,i.e.,chitinozoans and *** and other shelly fauna were also able to proliferate as new niches developed along the gently dipping ramp floor with substrate *** biodiversification patterns suggest that terrigenous influx controlled in part by regional tectonics played a more important role than previously thought in the development of Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event in South China.

A highly distorted chiral nanographene structure composed of triple corannulene-fused[5]helicenes is prepared with the help of the Heck reaction and oxidative photocyclization with an overall isolated yield of 28%.The complex three-dimensional(3D)structure of the bowl-helix hybrid nanostructure is studied by a combination of noncontact atomic force microscopy(AFM)and scanning tunneling microscopy(STM)on the Cu(111)surface,density functional theory calculations,AFM/STM simulations,and high-performance liquid chromatography-electronic circular dichroism *** examination reveals a molecular structure in which the three bowl-shaped corannulene bladesd position themselves in a C3-symmetric fashion around a highly twisted triphenylene *** molecule appears to be shaped like a propeller in which the concave side of the bowls face away from the connected[5]helicene *** chirality of the nanostructure is confirmed by the direct visualization of both MMM and PPP enantiomers at the single-molecule level by scanning probe *** results underline that submolecular resolution imaging by AFM/STM is a powerful real-space tool for the stereochemical characterization of 3D curved chiral nanographene structures.

Dear Editor,High-flow priapism is a persistent erection,usually caused by blunt perineal trauma,resulting in pathologically increased arterial inflow to the corpora cavernosa[1].The therapeutic strategy of high-flow priapism,although codified,leaves room for a wide choice of techniques,ranging from conservative management,selective arterial embolization to surgical management[2].The aim of this letter was to report an alternative approach of percutaneous embolization by direct puncture for the treatment of high-flow priapism.

Two sets of internal-Sn Nb3Sn superconducting strands were fabricated through RRP method, one with 2 wt% of Ti alloyed in Sn core and the other just pure Sn. Four reaction temperatures of 650℃, 675℃, 700℃ and 725℃ and 128 h duration were applied for A15 phase formation heat treatment after Cu-Sn alloying procedure of 210℃/50 h + 340℃/25 h. For the heat-treated coil samples, transport non-Cu JC was examined through standard 4-probe technique and phase microstructure was observed by means of Field Emission Scanning Electronic Microscope (FESEM). The obtained results demonstrate that the transport critical current density JC of Nb3Sn superconductors is more importantly determined by the cubic equiaxed crystalline morphology than by grain size. Ti addition in Sn stabilizes the cubic equiaxed phase at lower temperature so that heat reaction temperature is effectively reduced, the flux pinning performance is largely reinforced and the transport critical current density JC is substantially promoted.

Despite recent advances in medical and surgical treatments,surgical resection remains the only curative option for patients with colorectal liver metastasis(CRLM).Unfortunately,only a minority of patients with CRLM are candidates for liver *** 5-year survival of patients with liver-only disease and deemed unresectable is difficult to quantify but likely ranges around 5 to 10%.Since 2013,a few studies have shown that liver transplantation(LT)is feasible for selected patients with unresectable CRLM(1,2).Recently,the Oslo University Hospital LT group has published their latest results with modified selection criteria and should be congratulated for their ***,the evidence available is still *** example,currently,there is a lack of robust evidence supporting the widespread use of LT for CRLM outside Norway,a particular region in terms of graft scarcity.

Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s visit to China in April 2023 was an opportunity to elevate health cooperation between the two countries to scientific and technological cooperation standards,exemplified by the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite(CBERS).The satellite programme can be traced back to the Basic Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation signed by the two nations in 1982(https://***/ccivil03/decreto/1990-1994/***).This framework serves as a reference for health cooperation between Chinese science and health institutions and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation(Fiocruz),the Brazilian Minister of Health’s core industrial and research facility.
