Mesozoic Evaniidae (Insecta:Hymenoptera) in Spanish Amber:Reanalysis of the Phylogeny of the Evanioidea

One new genus and five new species of the family Evaniidae are described from the Early Cretaceous （Albian） Spanish amber of Pefiacerrada-I （Province of Burgos）, San Just and Arroyo de la Pascueta （both in the Province of Teruel）： Cretevania alonsoi sp. nov., C. montoyai sp. nov., C. alcalai sp. nov., C. rubusensis sp. nov., and lberoevania roblesi gen. and sp. nov. Taxonomic changes include Cretevania pristina （Zhang and Zhang, 2000） comb. nov., C. exquisita （Zhang, Rasnitsyn, Wang and Zhang, 2007） comb. nov., C. vesca （Zhang, Rasnltsyn, Wang and Zhang, 2007） comb. nov., and C. cyrtocerca （Deans, 2004） comb. nov., as a result of the reinterpretation of the genera Procretevania and Eovernevania. The new well preserved specimens of the genus Cretevania, together with the characters shown by the type specimens of the synonymized genera, give new information about their anatomical characters of taxonomical importance, and the genus Cretevania Rasnitsyn, 1975 is re-diagnosed. The holotypes of the Russian species in amber have been revised. A cladistic analysis of fossil and extant groups of the superfamily Evanioidea is included. Cretevania had a wide palaeogeographic distribution, with the highest diversity known from Spain. The 13 known Cretevania species show a high interspecific variation mainly in wing characteristics, and a wide range of body and wing size.

Management options for the unfavorable nutrient balance of recreational fishing in Lake Balaton(Hungary)

Various types of ground baits are loaded to lakes by anglers,but the ecological role of these materials is often ***,the aims of this study were to conduct a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the baits used by anglers in the largest lake of Central-Europe(Lake Balaton,Hungary),estimate the annual nutrient balance of recreational fishing,and relate the nutrient loading from this source to the total external *** study demonstrated that popular angler baits varied substantially in their nutrient contents and in their molar nitrogen to phosphorus(N:P)*** net nutrient balance of recreational fishing was+19.3 t total N year^(-1)and+5.2 t total P year^(-1),equivalent to 0.7%and 3.2%of the estimated total annual N and P loads,*** rate of nutrient loading may be doubled if the present trends continue:anglers will use 20%more bait with an even higher nutrient content and will also show higher propensity to release the fish after *** turn,sustainable nutrient balance of fisheries management could be achieved by limiting the anglers’bait use to 1.5 kg day^(-1)and restricting baits to those which have relatively low P(<0.3%)and N(<1.5%)contents.

Selection and design of high affinity DNA ligands for mutant single-chain derivatives of the bacteriophage 434 repressor

Single-chain repressor RRTRES is a derivative of bacteriophage 434 repressor, which contains covalently dimerized DNA-binding domains (amino acids 1-69) of the phage 434 repressor. In this single-chain molecule, the wild type domain R is connected to the mutant domain RTRES by a recombinant linker in a head-to-tail arrangement. The DNA-contacting amino acids of RTRES at the -1, 1,2, and 5 positions of the α3 helix are T, R, E, S respectively. By using a randomized DNA pool containing the central sequence -CATACAAGAAAGNNNNNNTTT-. a cyclic, in vitro DNA-binding site selection was performed. The selected population was cloned and the individual members were characterized by determining their binding affinities to RRTRES. The results showed that the optimal operators contained the TTAC or TTCC sequences in the underlined positions as above, and that the Kd values were in the 1×10-12mol/L1×10-11mol/L concentration range. Since the affinity of the natural 434 repressor to its natural operator sites is in the 1×10-9 mol/L range, the observed binding affinity increase is remarkable. It was also found that binding affinity was strongly affected by the flanking bases of the optimal tetramer binding sites, especially by the base at the 5' position. We constructed a new homodimeric single-chain repressor RrREsRtRES and its DNA-binding specificity was tested by using a series of new operators designed according to the recognition properties previously determined for the RTRES domain. These operators containing the consensus sequence GTAAGAAARNTTACN or GGAAGAAARNTTCCN (R is A or G) were recognized by RTRESRTRES specifically, and with high binding affinity. Thus, by using a combination of random selection and rational design principles, we have discovered novel, high affinity protein-DNA interactions with new specificity. This method can potentially be used to obtain new binding specificity for other DNA-binding proteins.

Biomimic Vein-Like Transparent Conducting Electrodes with Low Sheet Resistance and Metal Consumption

In this contribution,inspired by the excellent resource management and material transport function of leaf veins,the electrical transport function of metallized leaf veins is mimicked from the material transport function of the vein *** electroless copper plating on real leaf vein networks with copper thickness of only several hundred nanometre up to several micrometre,certain leaf veins can be converted to transparent conductive electrodes with an ultralow sheet resistance 100 times lower than that of state-of-the-art indium tin oxide thin films,combined with a broadband optical transmission of above 80%in the UV–VIS–IR ***,the resource efficiency of the vein-like electrode is characterized by the small amount of material needed to build up the networks and the low copper consumption during *** particular,the high current density transport capability of the electrode of>6000 A cm^−2 was *** superior properties of the vein-like structures inspire the design of high-performance transparent conductive electrodes without using critical materials and may significantly reduce the Ag consumption down toy to the electrode for high power density concentrator solar cells,high power density Li-ion batteries,and supercapacitors.

Predictive factors associated with hepatitis C antiviral therapy response

Hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection may lead to significant liver injury, and viral, environmental, host, immunologic and genetic factors may contribute to the differences in the disease expression and treatment response. In the early 2000 s, dual therapy using a combinationof pegylated interferon plus ribavirin(PR) became the standard of care for HCV treatment. In this PR era, predictive factors of therapy response related to virus and host have been identified. In 2010/2011, therapeutic regimens for HCV genotype 1 patients were modified, and the addition of NS3/4a protease inhibitors(boceprevir or telaprevir) to dual therapy increased the effectiveness and chances of sustained virologic response(SVR). Nevertheless, the first-generation triple therapy is associated with many adverse events, some of which are serious and associated with death, particularly in cirrhotic patients. This led to the need to identify viral and host predictive factors that might influence the SVR rate to triple therapy and avoid unnecessary exposure to these drugs. Over the past four years, hepatitis C treatment has been rapidly changing with the development of new therapies and other developments. Currently, with the more recent generations of pangenotipic antiviral therapies, there have been higher sustained virologic rates, and prognostic factors may not have the same importance and strength as before. Nonetheless, some variables may still be consistent with the low rates of non-response with regimens that include sofosbuvir, daclatasvir and ledipasvir. In this manuscript, we review the predictive factors of therapy response across the different treatment regimens over the last decade including the new antiviral drugs.

Deductive way of reasoning about the internet AS level topology

Our current understanding about the AS level topology of the Internet is based on measurements and inductive-type models which set up rules describing the behavior （node and edge dynamics） of the individual ASes and generalize the consequences of these individual actions for the complete AS ecosystem using induction. In this paper we suggest a third, deductive approach in which we have premises for the whole AS system and the consequences of these premises are determined through deductive reasoning. We show that such a deductive approach can give complementary insights into the topological properties of the AS graph. While inductive models can mostly reflect high level statistics （e.g., degree distribution, clustering, diameter）, deductive reasoning can identify omnipresent subgraphs and peering likelihood. We also propose a model, called yEAS, incorporating our deductive analytical findings that produces topologies contain both traditional and novel metrics for the AS level Internet.

A shape hardening function is developed that improves the predictive capabilities of the generalized bounding surface model for cohesive soils, especially when applied to overconsolidated specimens. This improvement is realized without any changes to the simple elliptical shape of the bounding surface, and actually reduces the number of parameters associated with the model by one.

Helicobacter pylori CagA protein polymorphisms and their lack of association with pathogenesis

AIM: To investigate Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) CagA diversity and to evaluate the association between protein polymorphisms and the occurrence of gastric pathologies. METHODS: One hundred and twenty-two clinical isolates of H. pylori cultured from gastric biopsies obtained from Colombian patients with dyspepsia were included as study material. DNA extracted from isolates was used to determine cagA status, amplifying the C-terminal cagA gene region by polymerase chain reaction. One hundred and six strains with a single amplicon were sequenced and results were used to characterize the 3' variable region of the cagA gene. To establish the number and type of tyrosine phosphorylation motifs Glutamine acid-Proline-Isoleucine-Tyrosine-Alanine (EPI-yA) bioinformatic analysis using Amino Acid Sequence Analyzer-Amino Acid Sequence Analyzer software was conducted. Analysis of the association between the number of EPIyA motifs and the gastric pathology was performed using χ2 test and analysis of the presence of EPIyA-C motifs in relation to the pathology was made by logistic regression odds ratios. Comparisons among EPIyA types found and those reported in GenBank were performed using a proportion test in Statistix Analytical Software version 8.0. RESULTS: After amplification of the 3' of the cagA gene, 106 from 122 isolates presented a single amplicon and 16 showed multiple amplicons. As expected, diversity in the size of the cagA unique fragments among isolates was observed. The 106 strains that presented a single amplicon after 3' cagA amplification came from patients with gastritis (19 patients), atrophic gastritis (21), intestinal metaplasia (26), duodenal ulcer (22) and gastric cancer. DNA sequence analysis showed that the differences in size of 3' cagA unique fragments was attributable to the number of EPIyA motifs: 1.9% had two EPIyA motifs, 62.3% had three, 33.0% had four and 2.8% had five motifs.
