Carbonates and organic matter in soils characterized by reflected energy from 350-25000 nm wavelength

The soil carbon pool which is the sum of soil organic carbon(SOC)and soil inorganic carbon(SIC)is the second largest active store of carbon after the oceans and it is an important component of the global carbon ***,accurate estimation of SOC and SIC as important carbon reservoirs in terrestrial ecosystems using fast,inexpensive and non-destructive methods is crucial for planning different climate change *** aim of the current research was to examine the effectiveness of Vis-NIR(visible and near-infrared spectroscopy:350-2500 nm)and MIR(mid-infrared spectroscopy:4000-400 cm-1)to characterize and estimate soil organic matter(SOM)and carbonates as main components of soil carbon stocks in Juneqan,Charmahal va Bakhtiari,*** do so,a total of 548 soil samples from this area were collected(October 2015)and analyzed in laboratory(August 2017).In order to develop models capable of predicting SOM and carbonates content,seven spectral preprocessing methods comprising Absorbance(Abs),De-trending(Det),Continuum removal(CR),Savitzky-Golay derivatives(SGD),standard normal variate transformation(SNV),multiplicative scatter correction(MSC)and Normalization by range(NBR)were conducted along with five multivariate methods including Random Forest(RF),Partial Least-Squares Regression(PLSR),Artificial Neural Network(ANN),Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Gaussian Process Regression(GPR).The content of carbonates caused spectral reflectance intensity to augment on several ranges of spectrum and strong absorption feature at 2338 nm in the Vis-NIR and 714,850,870,1796,2150 and 2510 cm-1 in the MIR spectra *** absorbed energy in several ranges,but also showed specific peaks in *** facts are associated with the structure of carbonates and SOM and its interaction with *** best combination of preprocessing and calibration models for carbonates quantification in Vis-NIR spectra was Det/PLSR(R2=0.74,RPD=2.19,RMSE=6.45).For SOM,it was Det/PLSR(R2=0.82,RPD=2.41,RM

De-escalating therapy in gastric aggressive lymphoma

The treatment of primary gastric diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL) has changed radically over the last 10–15 years, with the abandonment of routine gastrectomy in favor of more conservative therapies. Low-level evidence suggests that consolidation radiotherapy could be avoided in patients with limited-stage DLBCL of the stomach who achieve complete remission after rituximab-CHOP combination. Small, recent prospective trials suggest that selected patients with limited-stage Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori)-positive DLBCL of the stomach and favorable prognostic factors can be managed with antibiotics alone, with excellent disease control and cure rates, keeping chemo-radiotherapy for unresponsive patients. This recommendation should equally regard patients with mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue-related or de novo DLBCL. Future studies should be focused on the establishment of reliable variables able to distinguish the best candidates for exclusive treatment with H. pylori eradication from those who need for conventional chemo-immunotherapy.

Artificial root exudates and soil organic carbon mineralization in a degraded sandy grassland in northern China

Plant root exudates contain various organic and inorganic components that include glucose, citric and oxalic acid. These components affect rhizosphere microbial and microfaunal activities, but the mechanisms are not fully known. Studies concerned from degraded grassland ecosystems with low soil carbon（C） contents are rare, in spite of the global distribution of grasslands in need of restoration. All these have a high potential for carbon sequestration, with a reduced carbon content due to overutilization. An exudate component that rapidly decomposes will increase soil respiration and CO2 emission, while a component that reduces decomposition of native soil carbon can reduce CO2 emission and actually help sequestering carbon in soil. Therefore, to investigate root exudate effects on rhizosphere activity, citric acid, glucose and oxalic acid（0.6 g C/kg dry soil） were added to soils from three biotopes（grassland, fixed dune and mobile dune） located in Naiman, Horqin Sandy Land, Inner Mongolia, China） and subjected to a 24-day incubation experiment together with a control. The soils were also analyzed for general soil properties. The results show that total respiration without exudate addition was highest in grassland soil, intermediate in fixed dune and lowest in mobile dune soil. However, the proportion of native soil carbon mineralized was highest in mobile dune soil, reflecting the low C/N ratio found there. The exudate effects on CO2-C emissions and other variables differed somewhat between biotopes, but total respiration（including that from the added substrates） was significantly increased in all combinations compared with the control, except for oxalic acid addition to mobile dune soil, which reduced CO2-C emissions from native soil carbon. A small but statistically significant increase in pH by the exudate additions in grassland and fixed dune soil was observed, but there was a major decrease from acid additions to mobile dune soil. Mesozoic giant fleas from northeastern China (Siphonaptera):Taxonomy and implications for palaeodiversity

The recently discovered definite giant fleas from the Middle Jurassic Daohugou fauna and the Early Cretaceous Jehol fauna of northeastern China represent significant evidence for understanding ectoparasitism in the Mesozoic as well as the evolution of these giant blood feeders with their putative hosts (i.e. hairy or feathered vertebrates). On the basis of seven well-preserved specimens from Daohugou and Huangbanjigou we analyse the systematic classification of these primitive fleas, establishing two new genera and three new species as Pseudopulex wangi sp. nov., Hadropsylla sinica gen. et sp. nov., and Tyrannopsylla beipiaoensis gen. et sp. nov. All of them are assigned to the extinct siphonapteran family Pseudopulicidae, while the Early Cretaceous genus Tarwinia is transferred to Tarwiniidae fam. nov. The basal morphological disparities of Siphonaptera in the Mesozoic are evidenced by the occurrence of at least three distinct groups (pseudopulicids, tarwiniids, and saurophthirids). These disparate morphologies likely indicate adaptations to different hosts.

In this study, we found regular behavior, from a statistical point of view, in the intensities of rotational spectra for several organic and inorganic molecules at room temperature. Non-linear molecules, for which a common intensity behavior was derived, were especially interesting. we provided theoretical support for the obtained results based on the Boltzmann distribution. Boltzmann power laws were used to reproduce the statistical behavior of the intensities from the spectra of linear and non-linear molecules. we only used statistical arguments and no specific details of any molecule were used. Therefore, these results are applicable to a large class of atoms and molecules and the model is valid when considering similar conditions to those used in this study.

Management options for the unfavorable nutrient balance of recreational fishing in Lake Balaton(Hungary)

Various types of ground baits are loaded to lakes by anglers,but the ecological role of these materials is often ***,the aims of this study were to conduct a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the baits used by anglers in the largest lake of Central-Europe(Lake Balaton,Hungary),estimate the annual nutrient balance of recreational fishing,and relate the nutrient loading from this source to the total external *** study demonstrated that popular angler baits varied substantially in their nutrient contents and in their molar nitrogen to phosphorus(N:P)*** net nutrient balance of recreational fishing was+19.3 t total N year^(-1)and+5.2 t total P year^(-1),equivalent to 0.7%and 3.2%of the estimated total annual N and P loads,*** rate of nutrient loading may be doubled if the present trends continue:anglers will use 20%more bait with an even higher nutrient content and will also show higher propensity to release the fish after *** turn,sustainable nutrient balance of fisheries management could be achieved by limiting the anglers’bait use to 1.5 kg day^(-1)and restricting baits to those which have relatively low P(<0.3%)and N(<1.5%)contents.

Mesozoic Evaniidae (Insecta:Hymenoptera) in Spanish Amber:Reanalysis of the Phylogeny of the Evanioidea

One new genus and five new species of the family Evaniidae are described from the Early Cretaceous （Albian） Spanish amber of Pefiacerrada-I （Province of Burgos）, San Just and Arroyo de la Pascueta （both in the Province of Teruel）： Cretevania alonsoi sp. nov., C. montoyai sp. nov., C. alcalai sp. nov., C. rubusensis sp. nov., and lberoevania roblesi gen. and sp. nov. Taxonomic changes include Cretevania pristina （Zhang and Zhang, 2000） comb. nov., C. exquisita （Zhang, Rasnitsyn, wang and Zhang, 2007） comb. nov., C. vesca （Zhang, Rasnltsyn, wang and Zhang, 2007） comb. nov., and C. cyrtocerca （Deans, 2004） comb. nov., as a result of the reinterpretation of the genera Procretevania and Eovernevania. The new well preserved specimens of the genus Cretevania, together with the characters shown by the type specimens of the synonymized genera, give new information about their anatomical characters of taxonomical importance, and the genus Cretevania Rasnitsyn, 1975 is re-diagnosed. The holotypes of the Russian species in amber have been revised. A cladistic analysis of fossil and extant groups of the superfamily Evanioidea is included. Cretevania had a wide palaeogeographic distribution, with the highest diversity known from Spain. The 13 known Cretevania species show a high interspecific variation mainly in wing characteristics, and a wide range of body and wing size.
