A method for adsorption involving banana peel (BP) was studied to remove the pollutant acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) in aqueous medium. The results show that bioadsorbent has satisfactory maximum adsorption capacity (2.29 mg/g) for removing this analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug in aqueous solution (pH 7.0) using the Langmuir mathematical model. The tested concentrations of this pollutant were higher than the levels commonly found in the aquatic environment. This and other results suggest the BP as an alternative to ASA removal in water contaminated with pharmaceuticals pollutants.

The anarchic urbanization of certain African cities favors the multiplication of the malaria parasite. Thus, the urgent mobilization of African cities is essential to combat this health risk. it is, therefore, with the objective of contributing to the investigation of problem areas that the present study evaluates malaria transmission and vector control strategies in the Cotonou v health zone in particular. This is a cross-sectional study taking into account four neighborhoods, including Wologuèdè, Sainte Rita, Gbèdjromèdé and the area around Etoile Rouge. Two nocturnal captures on voluntary humans and the method of spray were carried out in the dry season from December 2021 to February 2022. On the captured Anopheles, the ELiSA Circum-Sporozoite Protein test was performed to determine the infectivity and calculate some transmission parameters. Finally, we conducted a survey using the second stage sampling method with one step to ask selected households about their knowledge of vector control methods, their use and the physical integrity of LLiNs. We collected 2386 culicidae of which the majority was Culex quinquefasciatus. After the ELiSA test, the 29 Anopheles tested, showed no infectivity, i.e. an EiR of 0 pi/h/n. in addition, 99% of the populations in the Cotonou v area use LLiNs to protect themselves. However, coils, door and window screens, aerosol sprays, skin and household repellents, and periodic indoor spraying were used. Finally, the majority of nets observed had T1 tears, but there were also T2, T3 and T4 nets (P-value = 0.0). This study confirms that malaria transmission during the dry season in the Cotonou v health zone is almost negligible but not non-existent. Also, populations are exposed to the nuisance of Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes continuously throughout the year.

背景:KEYNOTE-177 (NCT02563002)是一项3期随机、开放标签的临床研究,评估了帕博利珠单抗与标准化疗±贝伐珠单抗或西妥昔单抗作为微卫星不稳定性高/错配修复缺陷(MSi-H/d MMR)型转移性结直肠癌患者一线治疗的效果和安全性。本次公布了终期PFS分析的结果。方法:共有307名由当地医疗机构评判的MSi-H/d MMR且ECOG PS评分为0或1的转移性结直肠癌患者按1:1比例随机分组接受治疗,治疗方案为一线帕博利珠单抗(200 mg,Q3W,最长治疗时限为2年),或为研究者所选择的化疗方案,包括m FOLFOX6或FOLFiRi Q2W±贝伐珠单抗或西妥昔单抗(随机选择化疗方案)。治疗终止于出现PD、无法耐受的毒性、患者/研究者决定退出治疗或完成35个周期治疗(仅对于帕博利珠单抗而言)。确诊PD后,接受化疗组患者可转入帕博利珠单抗组并接受最长为35个周期的治疗。主要终点是PFS (RECiST v1.1,中心审查)和OS。主要的次要终点包括ORR (RECiST v1.1,中心审查)和安全性。该中期分析的数据截止日期是2020年2月19日。该研究仍将继续随访评估OS。结果:截止数据纳入时,153名患者被随机分至帕博利珠单抗组,154名患者被随机分至化疗组。帕博利珠单抗组的中位随访为28.4个月(0.2~48.3个月),化疗组为27.2个月(0.8~46.6个月)。帕博利珠单抗组PFS优于化疗组(中位时间16.5个月vs. 8.2个月;HR=0.60,95%Ci:0.45~0.80,P=0.0002)。帕博利珠单抗组的12个月和24个月PFS率分别为55.3%和48.3%,化疗组则相应分别为37.3%和18.6%。帕博利珠单抗组与化疗组经确认的ORR分别为43.8%与33.1%;帕博利珠单抗组与化疗组中位持续反应时间分别为未达到(2.3+~41.4+个月)和10.6个月(2.8~37.5+个月)。帕博利珠单抗组3~5级与治疗相关的不良事件(AE)发生率为22%,化疗组为66%。化疗组中有1例患者因治疗相关的AE死亡。结论:与化疗相比,帕博利珠单抗作为MSi-H/d MMR型转移性结直肠癌的一线治疗可提供具有临床意义和统计学意义的PFS获益,同时观察到较少的与治疗相关的AE,应该成为这类患者的新的标准治疗方案。

Correction of Acidity of a Brazilian Cerrado Oxisol with Limestone and Wood Ash on the initial Growth of Cowpea

Among Brazilian soils orders, there are some of it classified as acid soils, which need correction to guarantee crop productivity. Currently, limestone is the most used soil corrective and wood ash has been a sustainable alternative to this process. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the effect of two correctives of soil acidity on an Oxisol collected in the Brazilian Cerrado area using limestone and wood ash and the effect of soil correction on initial growth of cowpea. Two greenhouse experiments were carried out: 1) with limestone, using base saturation levels (v%) of 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80;and 2) wood ash, with doses of 0, 8, 16, 24 and 32 g⋅dm−3, both in five randomized blocks. At 40 days after sowing, it was verified that pH values were within the range considered ideal for soil (pH of 5 to 7), according to the increase of base saturation levels and wood ash doses, but limestone provided faster results. initial growth of cowpea was positively influenced by soil correction with use of both correctives. Wood ash and limestone increased soil pH to adequate values and resulted in better initial crop development.

Background: To investigate the effects of the association of semi-ablative fractional radiofrequency (RFF) with growth factors in stretch marks. Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted of 28 female patients with complaints of gluteus or abdomen striae and divided into 2 equitable groups, named G1 (semi-ablative RFF without active principle association) and G2 (semi-ablative RFF with active principle association), being subdivided into G-1A and G-2A (abdominal applications) and G-1B and G-2B (gluteus applications). A photographic and histological analysis was performed using questionnaires about inflammation, presence of adverse effects and satisfaction of volunteers. Photographic analysis showed a reduction in the amount of striae alba in all groups. Results: The histological analysis showed an increase in fibroblast activity, collagen type i, and blood vessels, especially in the groups that associated the RFF with the active principle. in the inflammation analysis, the groups that performed intervention with active ingredients showed lower inflammatory signal. All groups had a reasonable level of satisfaction after the interventions;however, the group that used active ingredients reported greater results. Conclusion: The association of semi ablative RFF with growth factors showed a reduction in clinical inflammatory signs, mainly in the first 15 days, as well as higher collagen production, verified in 30 days, with satisfactory clinical results in all groups.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of blends of different oxygenated additives on gasoline in SI engine Otto cycle. The formulations analyzed were: pure gasoline (type A), common gasoline (type C), gasoline type A + 15% (v/v) oxygenated additives (ethanol, ethyl octanoate, ethyl oleate). The experiments were performed using engine Branco 4-stroke and 2-cylinder, electric dynamometer, exhaust system, control unit composed of Multi-K unit, variable selector and load cell, stroboscope tachometer, fuel supply system and stopwatch. The rotation was conserved at 4400 rpm and wheel power varied from 3 kW to 12 kW, with intervals of 3 kW to obtain hourly consumption curves and brake specific fuel consumption. Even esters and ethanol having lower heat of combustion, hourly consumption was similar to pure gasoline (type A). In relation to the brake specific fuel consumption, increasing the wheel power had a better conversion of the mass of fuel burned into energy. Thus, this study showed that the mixture of gasoline and esters (ethyl octanoate and ethyl oleate) presented good efficiency in terms of consumption. This research contributes to the needs and to the current studies in which industries started to add renewable products to petroleum-derived fuels;in order to obtain more sustainable fuels at lower costs.

Antioxidant activity of Bios-p peptide analogue in HEK293T cells and three-dimensional structure prediction

Studies had indicate that excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) affect cellular signaling pathways, which is associated with pathological and physiological conditions such as cancer, diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases in this context, our laboratory has obtained the Bios-p, a ROS modulator, peptide analogue by sequencing from the seed of Bauhinia bauhinoides, which represents the active 12-amino acid, obtained from the inhibitor BbKi protease and we predicted the three-dimensional structure of Bios-p analogue peptide using homology modeling, being patented by the working group of Dr. Maria Luiza vilela Oliva of UNiFESP, Brazil (a member of our cluster). The protective effect on the viability and antioxidant capacity of Bios-p was studied in HEK 293T cells under oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) using SYTOXGREEN/DHE and luminescence assay. The three-dimensional structure of Bios-p peptide analogue was predicted by homology-based modeling using Modeller9v8. The pretreatment with different concentrations of Bios-p (1 μM - 10 μM) showed an increase of 53.83% ± 3.86% the cellular viability in under oxidative stress compared to control. Furthermore, the results to indicate that HEK293T cells by incubating for 24 h with Bios-p shown a significant decreased of basal extracellular ROS on total cell population in 89.67% ± 0.76%, compared to control in the absence of the analogue. Similarly it is observed that Bios-p has a significant antioxidant effect on extracellular ROS production when cells are subjected to oxidative stress induced by 200 μM H2O2 in 64.37% ± 4.63%, compared to control in absence of H2O2 and Bios-p. These results suggest that Bios-p has potential as antioxidant agent in cells HEK293T under H2O2-induced oxidative stress and that can protect the cells viability as concentration-dependent, and we propose a new biotechnological tool for modulate the ROS production.

An insight into the interaction of collagen type i with apatite in bone tissue was performed by using differential scanning calorimetry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and molecular modeling. Scanning electron microscopy shows that bone organic content incinerate gradually through the different temperatures studied. We suggest that the amide regions of the type i collagen molecule (mainly C=O groups of the peptide bonds) will be important in the control of the interactions with the apatite from bone. The amide i infrared bands of the collagen type i change when interacting to apatite, what might confirm our assumption. Bone tissue results in a loss of thermal stability compared to the collagen studied apart, as a consequence of the degradation and further combustion of the collagen in contact with the apatite microcrystals in bone. The thermal behavior of bone is very distinctive. its main typical combustion temperature is at 360°C with a shoulder at 550°C compared to the thermal behavior of collagen, with the mean combustion peak at ca. 500°C. Our studies with molecular mechanics (MM+ force field) showed different interaction energies of the collagen-like molecule and different models of the apatite crystal planes. We used models of the apatite (100) and (001) planes;additional two planes (001) were explored with phosphate-rich and calcium-rich faces;an energetic preference was found in the latter case. We preliminary conclude that the peptide bond of collagen type i is modified when the molecule interacts with the apatite, producing a decrease in the main peak from ca. 500°C in collagen, up to 350°C in bone. The combustion might be related to collagen type i, as the ΔH energies present only small variations between mineralized and non-mineralized samples. The data obtained here give a molecular perspective into the structural properties of bone and the change in collagen properties caused by the interaction with the apatite.
