Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading global cause of mortality and.disease burden. Statins are the most prescribed lipid-lowering drugs to treat hypercholesterolemia and.prevent CVDs. The biochemical mechanism of statins consists of competitive inhibition of the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase enzyme (HMG-CoAR)， the limiting enzyme in cholesterol biosynthesis. Due to statin intolerance in some patient groups， the search for new inhibitors is a field of great interest. This review focusses on the studies reporting the inhibitory effect of protein hydrolysates and.biopeptides on the HMG-CoAR enzyme activity. The analysis of the action mechanism and.physicochemical characteristics of the HMG-CoAR inhibitory peptides revealed that the molecular weight， amino acid composition， charge， and.polarity are key aspects of the interaction with the HMG-CoAR enzyme. In conclusion， this review reveals the potential of using food peptides as new cholesterol-lowering agents and.opens a new interesting field of research. However， clinical approaches are mand.tory to confirm their therapeutic hypercholesterolemic effect.

In this study,we implemented the type Ⅱ seesaw mechanism into the framework of the U(l)B-l gauge *** achieve this,we added a scalar triplet,A,to the canonical particle content of the U(l)B-lgauge *** imposing that the U(l)B-l gauge symmetry be spontaneously broken at TeV scale,we show that the type Ⅱ seesaw mechanism is realized at an intermediate energy scale,more precisely,at approximately 109 *** prevent heavy right-hand.d neutrinos from disturbing the mechanism,we evoke a Z2 discrete ***,as a result,we have stand.rd neutrinos with mass around eV scale and.right-hand.d neutrinos with mass in TeV scale,with the lightest one fulfilling the condition of dark *** developed all of these in this *** addition,we show that the neutral component of Δ may perform unproblematic non-minimal inflation with loss of unitarity.

A simple nanostrain direct current （DC） measurement system based on a chirped Bragg grating Fabry-Perot （FP） structure is presented. The FP cavity, formed between the chirped fiber Bragg grating （CFBG） and.the fiber end face, presents an aperiodic behavior due to the CFBG. A laser located in the fringe pattern slope is used to interrogate the sensing head. The optical power parameter is analyzed when strain is applied, for long and.short period fringe pattern wavelengths, and.sensitivities of-2.87 μW/με and.5.48μW/με are respectively obtained. This configuration presents a resolution of 70 ε.

In spite of advances in surgical care and.rehabilitation, the consequences of spinal cord injury （SCI） are still challenging. Several experimental therapeutic strategies have been studied in the SCI field, and.recent advances have led to the development of therapies that may act on the inhibitory microenvironment. Assorted lineages of stem cells are considered a good treatment for SCI. This study investigated the effect of systemic transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells （MSCs） in a compressive SCI model. Here we present results of the intraperitoneal route, which has not been used previously for MSC administration after compressive SCI. We used adult female C57Bl/6 mice that underwent laminectomy at the T9 level, followed by spinal cord compression for 1 minute with a 30-g vascular clip. The animals were divided into five groups： sham （anesthesia and.laminectomy but without compression injury induction）, MSC i.p. （intraperitoneal injection of 8×10^5 MSCs in 500 μl of DMEM at 7 days after SCI）, MSC i.v. （intravenous injection of 8 × 10^5 MSCs in 500μl of DMEM at 7 days after SCI）, DMEM i.p. （intraperitoneal injection of 500μl of DMEM at 7 days after SCI）, DMEM i.v. （intravenous injection of 500 μl of DMEM at 7 days after SCI）. The effects of MSCs transplantation in white matter sparing were analyzed by luxol fast blue staining. The number of preserved fibers was counted in semithin sections stained with toluidine blue and.the presence of trophic factors was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. In addition, we analyzed the locomotor performance with Basso Mouse Scale and.Global Mobility Test. Our results showed white matter preservation and.a larger number of preserved fibers in the MSC groups than in the DMEM groups. Furthermore, the MSC groups had higher levels of trophic factors （brain-derived neurotrophic factor, nerve growth factor, neurotrophin-3 and.neurotrophin-4） in the spinal cord and.improved locomotor performance. Electrospinning was used as a novel technique for fabricating polymeric nanofibers of a serum cholesterol lowering and.poorly water-soluble plant sterol, β-sitosterol. Chitosan was used as a stabilizer/carrier polymer. The mean diameters of nanofibers ranged from 150 nm to218 nm. β-sitosterol was in an amorphous form and.homogeneously dispersed in the nanofibers. The β-sitosterol-loaded nanofibers were freely water-soluble and.exhibited very short lag-time in releasing the plant sterol. The dissolution was associated with an immediate recrystallization of β-sitosterol in submicron level. In conclusion, electrospinning is a promising future technology for the formulation of poorly water-soluble plant sterols.

Diazotrophic bacteria applied as a seed inoculant can improve the grain yield of several crops including maize. The current study aimed to test the agronomic efficiency and.contribution of biological nitrogen fixation(BNF) of the endophytic diazotroph Herbaspirillum seropedicae strain ZAE94 to maize under field conditions. Eighteen field assays were conducted in four different locations during consecutive years on two hybrids and.two varieties of maize in a rand.m block design with four replicates using a peat-based inoculant. The inoculant containing the ZAE94 strain was applied without nitrogen(N)fertilization or with 40 kg N ha^(-1) and.was compared to the application of 40 and.80 kg N ha^(-1) without inoculation. Crop productivity and.N accumulation in the grain were evaluated in addition to ^(15)N natural abundance(δ^(15)N) to evaluate BNF in the treatments without N fertilization. Fertilization at 40 kg N ha^(-1) plus bacterial inoculation produced crop yields similar to the treatment with 80 kg N ha^(-1) and.increased grain N content, especially in the off-season with 40 kg N ha^(-1). The inoculation treatments showed lower δ^(15)N values than the non-inoculated treatments, which was most evident in the off-season. The BNF contributed about 30% of N accumulated in plants inoculated with ZAE94. On average, 64% of the N fertilized plots showed an increase of the parameters evaluated in the inoculated treatments, compared with the control. Inoculation also increased root length, root volume, and.leaf area, and.these parameters were positively correlated with plant weight using a hydroponic assay. This study revealed that the application of H. seropedicae inoculant increased the amount of N in plants owing to BNF, and.there is a better chance of yield response to inoculation under low N fertilizer application in the off-season.
