This article presents an experimental and numerical investigation on the strength and performance of intermediate length rack column sections with c-stitches under axial compression. The test program consisted of 10 axial concentric compression tests on columns with and without c-stitches under pin end conditions for two different geometric lengths. Finite element (FE) models were developed using commercial FE package ABAQUS considering material and geometric nonlinearities as well as initial geometric imperfections. The elastic buckling properties of the section were calculated using readily available linear elastic buckling analysis tools based on Generalized Beam Theory (GBT) and Finite Strip Method (FSM). Obtained FE results were compared with those obtained experimentally, and once verified the developed FE modeling technique was used to carry out a parametric study to examine changes in structural response due to variations in length, depth and spacing of c-stitches. Observed influences of c-stitches on the behavior and resistance of the considered columns were carefully analyzed, and key design aspects are presented herein.

Age related cataract is the leading cause of blindness associated with accumulation of oxidative stress in the eye *** present investigation reveals the rational of the beneficial effects of the natural compound c-phycocyanin(cPc)is beneficial when administered to rat pups to protect against the secondary effects of sodium selenite induced cataractogenesis.A single subcutaneous dose of sodium selenite(19 lmol/kg body weight)on the 10th day of postpartum is adequate to induce cataract in rat *** biochemical parameters,such as the level of electrolytes,mean activities of anti-oxidant enzymes *** dismutase,catalase and reduced glutathione were observed to be significantly altered during selenite induced cataractogenic *** examination revealed signs of degradation of normal cell architecture in the liver,kidney and eye ***,the deleterious effects of sodium selenite toxicity were restored with the simultaneous treatment with *** results suggest that an administration of 200 mg/kg body weight of c-Pc has the ability to prevent/alter the secondary changes reflected in the serum biochemical and histological modifications in rats exposed to sodium *** results complement the beneficial role of c-Pc of cyanobacterial origin as a efficacious anti-cataractogenic agent against sodium selenite toxicity.

The study of imine-bridged organics has been the hot spot synthesis of second order nonlinear optical (SONLO) and photo-responsive materials in recent years. Herein we present a study of synthesis, growth, and characterization of ([paranitrophenyl]imino)benzene (PNPIB) NLO single crystal. The title compound was synthesized in one step by Schiff base formation. PNPIB single crystal of diameter of 40 mmand length 50 mmwas successfully grown by SR method using a seed as the nucleus. The growth rate formula is derived for the SR method. PNPIB single crystals of 10 mmdiameter and 60 mmheight have been grown at an average growth rate of 3 mmper day from the point seed in a glass crystallizer. Almost 100% stable crystal conversion efficiency was achieved. The as grown PNPIB crystals were characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Ultraviolet-Visible-Near Infrared (UV-Vis-NIR), 1H & 13c NMR spectral studies, dielectric measurement and NLO studies. Single crystal XRD analysis confirms that the grown ingot belongs to the space group of P2 of monoclinic system thus exhibiting noncentrosymmetric structure. The crystalline perfection was assessed by XRPD. The powder diffraction pattern of the grown crystal has been indexed. The presence of c=N bond with intramolecular hydrogen bonding and the protonation of ions were confirmed by FTIR analysis. The UV-Vis-NIR spectrum of the crystal shows that the crystal has a cut-off at 298 nm. The 1H & 13c NMR spectra confirm the molecular structure. The dielectric behaviour was measured in the frequency range 1 KHz - 10 KHz for the temperature range from 30℃ to 170℃. The slight decrease in dielectric constant has been observed as the frequency is increased and the dielectric loss is very low for the entire frequency range. The second harmonic generation (SHG) in the crystal was observed by Kurtz powder technique.

Single crystals of 8-Hydroxyquinoline(8-HQ) and Benzophenone substituted 8-HydroxyQuinoline(B8-HQ) are grown by slow evaporation of acetone at room temperature. coloured crystals of 8-HQ and B8-HQ with good optical quality of dimensions 54 × 3 × 1.5 mm3 and 27 × 3 × 1 mm3 are harvested. Single crystal X-ray diffractometer was utilized to measure the unit cell parameters and to confirm the crystal structure. The presence of various functional groups in the molecule was ascertained by FTIR spectral analysis. The cut-offwavelength of 8-HQ andB8-HQwas centered at 350 and 356 nm. The functional groups in the molecule are elucidated by 1H and 13c-NMR spectral analyses. Kurtz Perry test confirms the SHG in8-HQ andB8-HQ single crystals.
