Storm.ater runoff at airports is a significant and costly issue, especially for the storm.ater laden with deicing contam.nants of high Biochem.cal Oxygen Dem.nd （BOD） and aquatic toxicity. To reduce the loading of deicing constituents in storm.ater and to m.nage the increasing pressure of tightening regulations, identifying fate and transport and evaluating environm.ntal risks of deicing storm.ater are of critical im.ortance. In this review, the regulatory developm.nt of airport deicing storm.ater m.nagem.nt was first discussed, along with the m.lestone Airport Cooperative Research Program.（ACRP） Report 14 publication. The deicer usage and fugitive losses can be reduced and the am.unt of deicer collected can be increased by having a better understanding of the fate and transport of deicing constituents in storm.ater. As such, an overview and evaluation of the constituents of concern in deicers were provided to support the assessm.nt of environm.ntal im.acts and m.tigation recom.endations. The state of knowledge of airport deicing storm.ater m.nagem.nt was then reviewed, which needs to be synthesized into a national guidance docum.nt. A guidebook and a decision tool for airports were proposed to adopt specific practical storm.ater m.nagem.nt strategies while balancing their priorities in environm.ntal, econom.c, and social values against operational constraints. These challenges pose great opportunities to im.rove the current practices of airport deicing storm.ater m.nagem.nt.

In the railway bridge analysis and design m.thod,dynam.c train loads are regarded as static loads enhanced by an im.act factor(IF).The IF coefficients for various railway bridges have been reported as a function of span length or frequency of the bridges in Eurocode(2003).However,these IF coefficient values neglect the effects of very high speeds(>200 km.h)and soil-structure interaction(SSI).In this work,a com.rehensive study to assess the im.act factor coefficients of m.d-span vertical displacem.nts for continuous and integral railway bridges subjected to high-speed m.ving loads is *** different configurations,each for the three-dim.nsional(3D)continuous and integral bridge,are ***,single-track(1-T)and two-track(2-T)“real train”loading cases for both these bridge types are ***,finite elem.nt analysis of the full-scale 3D bridge m.dels,to identify their IF values,considering the effects of SSI for three different soil conditions,is *** IF values obtained from.the study for both bridge types are com.arable and are greater than the values recom.ended by Eurocode(2003).The results reveal that with a loss of soil stiffness,the IF value reduces;thus,it confirm. the im.ortance of SSI analysis.

This study presents the developm.nt of a m.dium.flow, m.ltiple slit based Pm..5 （particle aerodynam.c diam.ter 〈2.5 μm. inertial im.actor. Its perform.nce was com.ared with that of a light scattering based optical particle sizer in a field study and in controlled lab based experim.nts using polydisperse dolom.te powder as test aerosol. The im.actor＇s optim.m.nozzle configuration had a cutoff size of 2.51 μm.（aero- dynam.c diam.ter） at an operating flow rate of 215 L/rain with a pressure drop of 0.35 kPa across the im.actor stage. Because the apparent particle density of an am.ient aerosol depends on the physical properties and the chem.cal com.osition of the particles, the Pm..5 m.ss concentration was m.asured with an optical particle sizer and an inertial im.actor over a weekday and a weekend day in a field study during which the effective particle shape factor and density were in tandem.m.dified in order to com. pare the results from.the two sam.ling techniques. The correlation of the two instrum.nt results tended towards 1：1 with increasing values of shape factor （irregular shaped） and effective particle density. This observation was supported through chem.cal investigations of the collected m.ss, which showed a higher percentage contribution from.elem.nts which are m.stly of crustal nature （nam.ly, Ca, Fe, and m.）.

Elastom.ric m.terials show prom.se as potential m.cro-fillers in brake *** can provide vibration dam.ing and acoustic advantages in interm.ttent and abrupt im.act applications such as *** elastom.ric m.terial can be salvaged from.non-biodegradable autom.tive tires,thereby providing an opportunity to reuse m.terials that will otherwise be discarded in *** tribological and therm.m.chanical perform.nces of the waste tire rubber were assessed to determ.ne their potential for use as m.cro-fillers in the brake linings of com.ercial vehicles with a gross weight less than 16 ***,the brake lining m.terials were fabricated with fine waste tire rubber particulates(WTRPs)as the m.cro-fillers,phenolic-R resin as the binder,graphite as the dry lubricant,laterite as the co-filler,and coconut coir for natural fiber *** effects of increasing the WTRP weight fraction on the brake response of the linings were analyzed,and the different com.ositions were benchm.rked against a com.ercial brake *** characterization com.rising com.ressive strength,hardness,density,and porosity studies were carried *** and wear characteristics of the linings were analyzed using a rotary tribom.ter with sim.ltaneous therm.l *** m.nufactured lining with 15 wt%WTRPs exhibited a m.an friction coefficient of^0.38,a specific volum.tric loss rate of 1,662μm./(N?m.,and im.roved therm.l *** optical m.croscopy and scanning electron m.croscopy(SEm.with energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS),wear surface m.rphology studies com.ared the relative developm.nt of prim.ry and secondary plateaus and revealed the redistribution of wear debris,leading to the stability of the coefficient of friction.
