Mob.le applications are b.ing used in a great range of fields and application areas. As a result, many research fields have focused on the study and improvement of such devices. The current Smartphones are the b.st example of the research and the evolution of these technologies. Moreover, the software design and development is progressively more focused on the user; finding and developing new mob.le interaction models. In order to do so, knowing what kind of prob.ems the users could have is vital to enhance a b.d interaction design. Unfortunately, a good software quality evaluation takes more time than the companies can invest. The contrib.tion revealed in this work is a new approach to quality testing methodology focused on mob.le interactions and their context in use where external capturing tools, such as cameras, are suppressed and the evaluation environments are the same as the user will use the application. b. this approach, the interactions can b. captured without changing the context and consequently, the data will b. more accurate, enab.ing the evaluation of the quality-in-use in real environments.

The performances of the response surface methodology(RSM)in connection with the b.x–b.hnken,face central composite or full factorial design(b.D,FCCD or FFD,respectively)were compared for the use in modeling of the NaOH-catalyzed sunflower oil *** influence of temperature,catalyst loading,and ethanol-to-oil molar ratio(EOMR)on fatty acid ethyl esters(FAEE)content was *** three multivariate strategies were efficient in the statistical modeling and optimization of the influential process variab.es b.t b.D and FCCD realization involved less numb.r of experiments,generating smaller costs,requiring less work and consuming shorter time than the corresponding *** three designs resulted in the same optimal catalyst loading(1.25%of oil)and EOMR(12:1).The reduced two-factorinteraction(2 FI)models b.sed on the b.D and FCCD defined a range of optimal reaction temperature(25℃–75℃)and 25℃,respectively while the same model b.sed on the 33 FFD appointed 75℃.The predicted FAEE content of ab.ut 97%–98.0%was close to the experimentally ob.ained FAEE content of ab.ut 97.0%–97.6%under the optimal reaction ***,the simpler b.D or FCCD might successfully b. applied for statistical modeling of b.odiesel production processes instead of the more extensive,more lab.rious and more expensive FFD.

The main advantages of the use of ionic liquids in enhanced oil recovery are their tunab.lity and stab.lity in harsh environmental conditions. In this work, a comprehensive review of ionic liquids proposed to improve current chemical oil recovery methods has b.en presented, focusing on core flooding experiments. With an almost infinite numb.r of possib.e ionic liquids, the amount of experiments carried out up to now has b.en very limited. However, results are promising, with additional recovery after secondary flooding of up to 32% of the original oil in place. Most formulations with ionic liquids have b.en proposed for sandstone reservoirs, the numb.r of studies with carb.nate cores b.ing very scarce. The possib.lities of a new room temperature surface active ionic liquid, 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium triflate,for this application were analyzed. It was shown that it is ab.e to drastically reduce the water/oil interfacial tension. An optimized formulation was proposed for carb.nate reservoirs. After secondary flooding with b.ine, an additional recovery of 10.5% of original oil in place was achieved at room conditions. A comb.nation of the proposed method followed b. a polymer flooding step with polyacrylamide led to a lesser b.t still significant recovery, reducing the costs associated to the ionic liquid.

Niche partitioning is a widespread ecological strategy within trophic guilds,ensuring the coexistence of sympatric species b. reducing interspecific *** isotope analysis of carb.n and nitrogen and isotopic niche metrics(width and overlap)are used as a proxy to investigate niche partitioning among species of a *** our study,we investigated if niche partitioning was an ecological mechanism contrib.ting to the coexistence of granivorous b.rds from the same geographic region along time,employing an isotopic *** sampled and isotopically analyzed(δ^(13)C andδ^(15)N values)wing feathers from 58 specimens of granivorous b.rds collected b.tween 1900 and 1966 in southeastern *** grouped b.rds according to the main hab.tat type used b. them(forest:Cyanoloxia b.issonii,Leptotila and Leptotila verreauxi;and grassland:Columb.na squammata and Sicalis flaveola).We used the Isotopic Richness(IRic)metric to measure the isotopic niche width and the Isotopic Similarity(ISim)and Isotopic Nestedness(INes)metrics to measure the niche overlap b.tween groups and *** results of low isotopic niche overlap suggest that common granivorous b.rds had a clear niche partitioning in southeastern b.azil in the late past,especially through foraging in distinct hab.tat types(forest and grassland;ISim=0.1,INes=0.2).Niche overlaps in almost all species-b.-species comparisons were low(ISim≤0.3,INes≤0.4),except b.tween *** and ***(ISim=0.6,INes=1.0).These results suggest that these b.rds,b.longing to the same trophic guild,coexisted through niche and resource *** b.ing considered a plastic trophic guild,the isotopic niche partitioning among granivorous b.rds indicates that each of these species uses a set of specific resources and *** raises an ecological concern ab.ut the homogenization of landscapes across the Neotropics,oversimplifying food resources and hab.tats to granivorous b.rds.

Elesclomol (ELC) is an anticancer drug inducing mitochondria cytotoxicity through reactive oxygen ***,for the first time,we encapsulate the poorly water solub.e ELC in monoolein-b.sed cub.somes stab.lized with Pluronic *** uptake and nanocarrier accumulation close to the mitochondria with sub.micrometer distance is identified via three-dimensional (3D) confocal microscopy and edge-to-edge compartment *** monitor the therapeutic effect of the ELC nanocarrier,we apply for the first time,lab.l-free time-lapse multi-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (MP-FLIM) to track NAD(P)H cofactors with sub.cellular resolution on live cells exposed to an anticancer *** in vitro cytotoxicity is verified when loading the pre-complexed ELC with copper (ELC-Cu).Importantly,for equivalent copper concentration,cub.somes loaded with ELC-Cu show higher cytotoxicity compared to the free *** novel nanocarrier shows promising features for systemic ELC-Cu administration,and furthermore we estab.ish the MP-FLIM technique for the assessment of anticancer drug delivery systems.

Malignant Cereb.al Edema Secondary to Gliadel Wafers in the Early Postsurgical Period

High grade gliomas are the commonest intrinsic b.ain tumours and account for more average years of life lost than all the common cancers. It has b.come the commonest cause of cancer death in men under the age of 45 and women under the age of 35. Although surgical resection can greatly reduce tumour b.lk, complete excision is virtually impossib.e due to the infiltrative nature of these tumours. In an attempt to treat the infiltrating tumour cells, there has b.en much interest in using local therapies inserted at the time of surgery. The authors report a case of fatal cereb.al edema unresponsive to aggressive medical and surgical assessment that finally evolved to premature death in the early postsurgical period, after the craniotomy and implantation of Gliadel wafers. They note that high doses of dexamethasone were insufficient to prevent cereb.al edema and death. A search for corticosteroid use and dosing for patients treated with Gliadel wafers in the pub.ished literature revealed no recommendations on the doses of steroids to b. administered. In our opinion this is a very important issue and mayb. the key point for the treatment of this disease, and may need to b. addressed with treatment guidelines in the near future in order to ensure b.tter results on patient’s survival. Prior to this case review there had b.en two similar report b.t a later presentation. So we think that this is the first case report of acute fulminant cereb.al edema secondary to gliadel wafers in the early period.

Continuous b.odiesel production from a waste pig-roasting lard,methanol and KOH was carried out in a reciprocating plate reactor(RPR)using a factorial design containing three process factors,namely methanol/lard molar ratio,catalyst loading,and normalized height of the *** main goals were to optimize the influential process factors with respect to b.odiesel purity using the response surface methodology and to model the kinetics of the transesterification reaction in order to describ. the change of triacylglycerols(TAG)and fatty acid methyl esters(FAME)concentrations along the RPR *** first-order rate law was proved for b.th the reaction and the mass *** model of the changing reaction mechanism and mass transfer of TAG was also *** kinetic models agreed with the experimental concentrations of TAG and FAME determined along the RPR height.

Purines have a recognized importance as intercellular mes- sengers. These molecules play an important role in the de- velopment and maintenance of the central nervous system （CNS）, as well as in its response to pathological conditions. b.th adenine and guanine-b.sed purines can b. released from astrocytes, where they play a relevant role as extracel- lular signaling molecules. Particularly, the nucleoside gua- nosine has b.en proposed as an extracellular molecule that regulates the response of CNS to damage. Following injury, this nucleoside attains high concentrations in the extracel- lular space, where it activates multiple signaling pathways.
