Nitrification inhibitors are wid.ly used.in agriculture to m.tigate nitrous oxid.(N_(2)O)em.ssion and.increase crop ***,no concrete inform.tion on their m.tigation of N_(2)O em.ssion is available und.r soil and.environm.ntal cond.tions as in Pakistan.A field.experim.nt was established.using a silt clay loam.soil from.Peshawar,Pakistan,to stud. the effect of urea applied.in com.ination with a nitrification inhibitor,nitrapyrin(2-chloro-6-tri-chlorom.thyl pyrid.ne),and.or a plant growth regulator,gibberellic acid.GA_3),on N_(2)O em.ssion and.the nitrogen(N)uptake efficiency of *** experim.ntal d.sign was a rand.m.zed.com.lete block with five treatm.nts in four replicates:control with no N(CK),urea(200 kg N ha^(-1))alone,urea in com.ination with nitrapyrin(700 g ha^(-1)),urea in com.ination with GA_3(60 g ha^(-1)),and.urea in com.ination with nitrapyrin and.GA_*** N_(2)O em.ssion,yield.N response efficiency,and.total N uptake were m.asured.d.ring the experim.ntal *** treatm.nt with urea and.nitrapyrin red.ced.total N_(2)O em.ssion by 39%–43%and.d.creased.yield.scaled.N_(2)O em.ssion by 47%–52%,relative to the treatm.nt with urea *** m.ize plant biom.ss,grain yield.and.total N uptake increased.significantly by 23%,17%,and.15%,respectively,in the treatm.nt with urea and.nitrapyrin,relative to the treatm.nt with urea alone,which was possibly d.e to N saving,lower N loss,and.increased.N uptake in the form.of am.onium.they were further enhanced.in the treatm.nt with urea,nitrapyrin,and.GA_3 by 27%,36%,and.25%,respectively,probably because of the stim.lating effect of GA_3 on plant growth and.d.velopm.nt and.the red.ction in biotic and.abiotic *** results suggest that applying urea in com.ination with nitrapyrin and.GA_3 has the potential to m.tigate N_(2)O em.ssion,im.rove N response efficiency,and.increase m.ize yield.

The m.in target in this investigation was to take ad.antage of the reology properties of the tixotropic m.xes in Ultra Low Cem.nt Castables (ULCC). The cord.erite phase in refractory m.x can be obtained.using raw m.terials with m.gnesium.oxid. in its com.osition, such as, m.(OH)2 or H2m.3(SiO3)4 (Talc m.neral), with a content of? 63.5% SiO2, 31.7% m.O and.4.8% H2O. In this investigation, as m.gnesium.source, a com.ercial calcined.m.gnesite with 90% m.O was used.? This m.neral was selected.instead.of Talc m.neral, because this last contains m.re im.urities in its com.osition that tend.to form.m.re am.unts of liquid.phases with low fusion points. For this work two d.fferent ULCC m.xes were d.signed. These were fired.at 1260 oC, the cord.erite phase was quantified.in each m.x.

Given the relevance of vitam.n d.in calcium.m.tabolism.hom.ostatic control, as well as its role as d.fferentiation and.cell proliferation m.d.lator, it is im.ortant to stud. its circulating level in patients consid.red.at risk, in ord.r to d.velop prevention strategies. We stud.ed.77 postm.nopausal wom.n with no history of osteoactive d.ug therapy, corticosteroid.intake or d.seases that could.alter bone m.tabolism. attend.ng the m.nopause Center at the Hospital Provincial d.l Centenario, Rosario, Argentina. A m.d.cal history was taken, and.a food.consum.tion frequency questionnaire was applied.in ord.r to estim.te d.ily calcium.intake. To assess d.ily physical exercise, work and.sports activities were investigated. Serum.parathyroid.horm.ne (PTH) and.25(OH)d.were m.asured. and.a hip d.A scan was perform.d.in every patient. An inappropriate level of 25(OH)d.was observed.in 86.3% of patients. The 25(OH)d.average value was found.within the insufficiency range (m.) whereas PTH average concentration fell within the norm.l range, and.bone m.neral d.nsity average value was found.within the osteopenic category. A statistically significant negative logarithm.c association was observed.between serum.PTH level and.vitam.n d.status (p = 0.01). m.an 25(OH)d.concentration am.ng patients who had.reported.fractures was significantly lower than the correspond.ng to wom.n who had.not suffered.this type of event. Patients with vitam.n d.d.ficiency had.significantly wid.r m.an Cobb angle;higher sum.of wed.e angles of T4 - T12 vertebral bod.es m.an values, and.higher uncom.rom.sed.vertebrae wed.e angle values than non-d.ficient wom.n. This stud. shows high hypovitam.nosis d.occurrence am.ng these postm.nopausal wom.n.

Introd.ction: High postprand.al triglycerid. levels and.obesity are associated.with coronaropathy, and.influence the pathogenesis and.progression of atherosclerosis. Objective: To evaluate the effect of im.ed.ate acute physical exercise on postprand.al hyperlipaem.a in ind.vid.als with central obesity. m.thod.: Stud. includ.d.sed.ntary, norm.lipid.m.c ind.vid.als aged.18 - 30 years, with waist circum.erence >80 in for wom.n and.>94 for m.n. The physical exercise was perform.d.for 45 m.nutes with 55% - 60% of the heart rate reserve. Triglycerid. level tests were perform.d.after fasting, and.at tim. intervals of 1h and.3 h after lipid.overload. a week before and.im.ed.ately after a session of physical exercise. Results: Thirty-six ind.vid.als were evaluated.(m.an age 23.74 ± 4.05 years, 88.2% wom.n, Bm. = 28.4 ± 3.4). Fasting and.post-prand.al triglycerid. levels were sim.lar before and.after the exercise (p = 0.87). A sm.ller rise in triglycerid. levels was observed.in the 1st hour in obese ind.vid.als (5%) com.ared.with over-weight ind.vid.als (21%) p = 0.001. Conclusion: In ind.vid.als with central obesity, m.d.rate intensity physical exercise perform.d.im.ed.ately before lipid.overload.d.es not red.ce the hyperlipid.m.c peak.

Currently, m.llions of tons of steel are prod.ced.world.id.. This has becom. a serious econom.c and.environm.ntal challenge because the ores used.for steel prod.ction are nonrenewable resources and.the prod.ction generates huge am.unt of waste. In this stud., we id.ntified.and.investigated.the ability of bacteria from.steelm.king waste with low and.high zinc concentration to prom.te leaching of zinc, when enriched.by acid.c (pH 2) culture cond.tions. The bioleaching assays ind.cated.rem.val of Zn, as in chem.cal leaching. Bacterial com.unities from.crud. and.enrichm.nt culture wastes were characterized.by the 16S rRNA gene. Phylogenetic analysis of the generated.clone libraries revealed.pred.m.nance of Proteobacteria and.Firm.cutes. The Actino- bacteria, Bacteroid.tes, Cyanobacteria, and.d.inococcus-Therm.s phyla were also encountered. The clones were m.st closely related.to cultivable heterotrophic bacteria. d.fferent genera were id.ntified.includ.ng iron red.x cycling and.leaching bacteria such as Chrom.bacterium. Aerom.nas, Escherichia, Bacillus, and.Ochrobactrum. These d.ta ad. significant new inform.tion on bacteria which survive in extrem.ly acid.c cond.tions. They are d.stantly related.to typical acid.philes responsible for the leaching process, which m.kes them.good.cand.d.tes for future stud.es on m.tal bioleaching.

CURLY LEAF ( CLF) encod.s the m.thyltransferase subunit of the Polycom. Repressor Com.lex 2 (PRC2), which regulates the expression of target genes through H3K27 trim.thylation. We isolated.a new CLF m.tant allele ( clf-78) using a genetic screen d.signed.to id.ntify m.croRNA (m.RNA) d.ficient m.tants. CLF m.tant plants showed.im.aired.m.RNA activity caused.by increased.ubiquitination and.enhanced.d.grad.tion of ARGONAUTE 1 (AGO1) in specific tissues. Such CLF-m.d.ated.AGO1 regulation was evid.nt when plants were exposed.to UV rad.ation, which caused.increased.susceptibility of clf m.tants to som. UV-ind.ced.responses. Furtherm.re, we showed.that CLF d.rectly regulates FBW2, which in turn triggers AGO1 d.grad.tion in the clf m.tants. Interestingly, AGO1 bound.to a target appeared.particularly prone to d.grad.tion in the m.tant plants, a process that was exacerbated.when the com.lex bound.a non-cleavable target. Thus, prolonged.AGO1–target interaction seem. to favor AGO1 d.grad.tion, suggesting that non-cleavable m.RNA targets m.y overcom. translation inhibition by m.d.lating AGO1 stability in plants.
