＜正＞MTT3, a new ciliate general-stress-response metallothionein （MT） isoform has been discovered and characterized in Tetrahymena thermophila. MTT3 shows strong sequence identity with a previously identified MT gene （MTT1） and is located about 1.7 kb downstream of it, suggestive of an earlier duplication event. Sequence comparisons of three related ciliate MTs reveal a very striking modular structure. MTT1 and MTT3 predicted proteins have three modules, while the Tetrahymena pyriformis MT-1 （TpMT-1） protein has only two. nevertheless, TpMT-1 and MTT1 are more similar to one another

Giant Cystic and Mediastinal Parathyroid Adenoma with non-Uptake in Scintigraphy

Introduction: In 85% of patients, the cause of Primary Hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is an adenoma. Parathyroid adenoma localization is usually simple. 96% of localizations prior to surgery are achieved with ultrasound and scintigraphy combination. Difficulties can appear. If the gland is not located in a cervical position and has no uptake in scintigraphy but there is high suspition of an adenoma causing the PHPT, some extra tests should be considered. Case Report: We present a case of giant cystic mediastinal adenoma, a quite rare condition, which was diagnosed as a thyroid colloid cyst by ultrasound, and was not localized by scintigraphy. We report the CT scan and the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images that show the tumour. It was surgically resected by a cervical approach. After the excision, the patient recovered normal levels of Calcium and Parathormone (PTH). Conclusion: We review literature about cystic and mediastinal adenomas and diagnostic methods when the standard ones do not give an accurate localization diagnosis.

Evaluation of the Radiological Characteristics of Patients with COVID-19 in a General Hospital of Tabasco

According to various studies, it has been found that due to the lack of reagents for the RT-PCR test for the accurate diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection, tomography began to be used as a criterion to achieve diagnostic support in patients with lack of a definitive diagnosis. The objective of this work is to describe the tomographic findings in patients with COVID-19 and their relationship with the clinical presentation in each of the radiological patterns. According to the Feinstein Criteria, the analytical type of study, with quantifiable, non-experimental data, was cross-sectional from October 2020 to June 2021, obtaining a sample of 227 patients hospitalized in the UAER of the CMJPP. Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel (2021) and SPSS. According to the radiological classifications, 6.17% (14) presented in the Initial (early) phase of the disease, 46.7% (106) were in progression and 47.14% (107) in the advanced phase of the latter with a higher percentage in the CORADS classification at level 3 with 74.5% in both;Similarly, in advanced onset, the extension with the greatest presentation was severe with 86.96% (93). Tomographic studies played an important role during the COVID-19 pandemic, together with the application of international classifications such as CO-RADS and the classification issued by InER, being considered diagnostic support tools for COVID-19 and patient evolution.

Effect of Copper and Iron on Acidogenic Biomass in an anaerobic Packed Bed Reactor

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of copper and iron on acidogenic biomass immobilized on clinoptilolite in an anaerobic packed bed reactor. Copper and iron were fed to the reactor at concentrations of 100 and 300 mg·L-1, respectively. Both metal ions had insignificant inhibitory effect over the metabolism of the biomass, specifically, on substrate consumption and production of volatile fatty acids (VFAs). The microstructural characterization of the biofilm by Scanning Electron Microscopy showed no effect on the morphology of the microorganisms after the metals treatment. Copper and iron removal was also measured in the reactor, achieving a breakthrough time of 3 days, during which removal efficiencies were higher than 90%. It was also observed that the biomass had a greater affinity for copper. The results indicate that acidogenic biomass can be used effectively as a sorbent agent. The pollution of river-streams with heavy metals—mainly copper and iron—was one of the most compelling motivations for conducting this investigation. The San Pedro River Basin, a trans-boundary river that originates near the mining town of Cananea, Sonora, México, and flows to Arizona, USA, exemplifies this environmental issue.

AIM To evaluate the association of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori), cag A genotype, and type of gastric pathology with ghrelin, leptin and nutritional *** Fasted dyspeptic adults(18-70 years) referred for an upper digestive endoscopy were enrolled in this crosssectional study. Height and weight were assessed for body mass index(BMI) calculation. A sociodemographic survey was administered and nutrient intake was evaluated with 24 h dietary recalls. Serum total ghrelin and leptin levels were analyzed by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay. 13 C-Urea Breath Test was performed and four gastric biopsies were obtained during endoscopy for histopathology and H. pylori DnA amplification and genotyping. Data analysis was performed using χ2, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis tests, Spearman's correlation and linear *** One hundred and sixty-three patients(40.8 ± 14.0 years), 98/65 females/males, were included. Overall, persistent H. pylori prevalence was 53.4%(95%CI: 45.7%-65.8%). neither nutrient intake nor BMI differed significantly between H. pylori positive and negative groups. Serum ghrelin was significantly lower in infected patients [median 311.0 pg/m L(IQR 230.0-385.5)] than in uninfected ones [median 355.0 pg/m L(IQR 253.8-547.8)](P = 0.025), even after adjusting for BMI and gender(P = 0.03). Ghrelin levels tended to be lower in patients carrying cag A positive strains both in the antrum and the corpus; however, differences with those carrying cag A negative strains did not reach statistical significance(P = 0.50 and P = 0.49, respectively). In addition, the type and severity of gastric pathology in the corpus was associated with lower serum ghrelin(P = 0.04), independently of *** status. Conversely, leptin levels did not differ significantly between infected and uninfected patients [median 1.84 ng/m L(0.80-4.85) vs 1.84 ng/m L(0.50-5.09),(P = 0.51)]. [背景]产前暴露于双酚A（BPA）及邻苯二甲酸酯会影响胎儿发育；然而该类研究很少，且得出的结果不一致。[目的]对一个西班牙出生队列中488对母婴进行研究，评估产前暴露于BPA及邻苯二甲酸酯是否与胎儿发育相关。[方法]检测第一和第三孕期两次尿液样本中BPA及8种邻苯二甲酸酯[4种邻苯二甲酸二（2-乙基己基）酯代谢物（DEHPm），邻苯二甲酸单卞酯（MBzP）以及3种低分子量邻苯二甲酸酯代谢物（LMWPm）]。另外，估计股骨长度（FL）、头围（HC）、腹围（AC）、双顶径（BPD）的生长曲线，估计孕期（12—20周，20～34周）的胎儿体重，并测量出生体重、出生长度、出生头围以及胎盘重量。[结果]总体上，结果并不支持孕期暴露于BPA或DEHPm与胎儿发育参数相关。产前MBzP暴露与20～34孕周的FL呈正相关，MBzP浓度每增加一倍，平均FL增加3．7％（95％CI：0．75，6．63％）。MBzP与男婴出生体重呈正相关（48g；95％CI：6，90），但在女婴中没有相关性（-27g；95％CI：-79，25）（交互作用P=0．04）。LMWPm邻苯二甲酸单丁酯（MnBP）与12—20孕周的HC呈负相关[平均HC降低了4．88％（95％CI：-8．36，-1．36％）]。[结论]本研究首次将暴露生物标志重复测量值与胎儿期多种发育参数相结合，发现暴露于BPA或邻苯二甲酸酯与胎儿发育不相关。邻苯二甲酸酯代谢物MBzP与MnBP与部分胎儿发育参数相关，但这些结果还需要重复验证。
