Numerical investigation on the mechanism of impeller hub corner separation flow and induced energy loss in the bulb tubular pump

Impeller hub corner separation flow(IHCS)has a significant influence on energy conversion of the bulb tubular pump,and its unsteady characteristics are investigated with CFD-based *** generation mechanism and power loss characteristics of IHCS are investigated by the entropy production method and pressure fluctuation *** main cause can be attributed to the large transverse pressure gradient near the hub at the trailing edge of the impeller,which is aggravated by the circumferential movement trend and the diffuser reverse flow,while the IHCS is significantly weakened with increased flow *** undesirable flow behavior is more likely to cause a significant increase in energy loss near the hub region compared to that in the rim *** relative vortex stretching induced by the velocity gradient is the main cause of the horn-like vortex(HLV),and its intensity and resulting energy loss tend to decrease along the vortex *** HLV changes the dominant frequency of the pressure fluctuations in the nearby flow field,the value of which increases from 1fr(the blade passing frequency)to 2fr with increased amplitude,mainly due to the lower pressure regions on the impeller suction surface(SS)and HLV vortex *** to the effect of rotor-stator interaction(RSI),the HLVs generated between two adjacent impeller blades are cut into several sections by the diffuser vanes and propagate and dissipate along the mainstream direction.

Li_(3)VO_4 has been considered as a promising insertion-type anode for lithium-ion batteries due to its high theoretical specific capacity and suitable operating voltage platform. However, this promising anode still suffers from poor electrical conductivity. To address this issue, herein, a porous carbon supported Li_(3)VO_4 composites(Li_(3)VO_4/C) via a facile agitation-drying method combined with subsequent calcination is reported, in which Ketjen black carbon with high porosity, easy dispersion and excellent conductivity can serve as one of carbon sources. The Li_(3)VO_4/C composite prepared at 700 ℃ with a carbon content of~10% exhibits the optimized structure. The void space of the composite accommodates the volume changes during the charge/discharge ***, the carbon shell serves as a conductive skeleton to provide bi-continuous Li ions and electrons pathways. Electrochemical results reveal that the composite delivers a high initial discharge capacity of 572 m Ahág^(-1) and maintains a capacity of 442.9 m Ahág^(-1) after 100 cycles at 100 m Aág^(-1). Even at a high current density of 2 Aág^(-1), a considerable capacity of 243.8 m Ahág^(-1) can still be obtained. This work provides a promising approach for the practical application of Li_(3)VO_4 as anode material for LIBs.

New design for multi-crystal data collection at SSRF

Data collection with microcrystals at synchrotron radiation facilities is challenging because it is difficult to harvest and locate microcrystals. Moreover,microcrystals are sensitive to radiation damage; thus, typically, a complete data set cannot be obtained with a single microcrystal. Herein, we report a new method for data collection with multiple microcrystals having a crystal size ranging from 1 to 30 lm. This method is suitable for not only low-temperature(100 K) data collection but also room-temperature data collection. Thin Kapton membranes were used to capture multiple crystals simultaneously. The microcrystals were visible under an optical microscope and easily located because the membrane was transparent and sufficiently thin. The film was fixed to a bracket that was prepared using a three-dimensional printer. The bracket was fixed on a magnetic base via screwing and employed by the goniometer system for data collection. Multiple data sets of fatty acid-binding protein 4(FABP4) and lysozyme microcrystals were collected using this novel designed device. Finally, the structures of protein FABP4 and lysozyme were obtained from these data via the molecule replacement method. The data statistics reveal that this method provides a comparable result to traditional methods such as a nylon loop.

Selective Synthesis of Different-Sized Gold Nanoclusters through HCI-Etching and-Growth Effect

Controllable syntheses of different-sized gold nanoclusters are of great significance for their fundamental science and practical applications. In this work, we achieve the controllable and selective syntheses of Au7 and Au13 clusters through adding HCl to the traditional Aull synthetic route at different reaction time. Time-dependent mass spectra and UV- Vis spectra were ernployed to monitor these two HCl-directed processes, and revealed the distinct roles of HCl as an etchant or a growth prornotor, respectively. Furthermore, parallel experiments on independent synthetic routes involving only non-chlorine H＋（acetic acid） or Cl （tetraethy larnrnoniurn chloride） instead of HCl were perforrned, which illustrated the main role of H^＋-etching and Cl^ -assisted growth in HCl-directed cluster synthetic routes. We propose the HCl-etching is mainly achieved via the H＋ action to break the Au（I）-PPh3 part of clusters, while the HCl-prornoted growth is realized via the attachment of Au-Cl species to the pre-forrned clusters.

AIM：To compare the effectiveness and safety between modified cross-linking（MC）and standard cross-linking（SC）in mild or moderate progressive ***：Eligible studies were retrieved from four electronic databases,including CENTRAL,Clinical Trials gov,Pup Med and OVID *** set post-surgical maximum K value（Kmax）as the primary *** addition,uncorrected and corrected distant visual acuity（UDVA and UDVA）,spherical equivalent（SE）,endothelial cell density（ECD）,central cornea thickness（CCT）and depth of demarcation line（DDL）were Meta-analyzed as secondary *** differences for these outcomes were pooled through either a random-effect model or fixed-effect model according to data ***：Twenty-four comparative studies either on accelerated cross-linking（AC）compared with SC or on transepithelial cross-linking（TC）compared with SC were included and pooled for *** results indicated that MC was significantly inferior to SC at delaying Kmax deterioration[AC vs SC 0.49（95%CI：0.04-0.94,I2=75%,P=0.03）;TC vs SC 1.15（95%CI：0.54-1.75,I2=50%,P=0.0002）].SE decreased significantly for SC when compared to AC[0.62（95%CI：0.38-0.86,I2=22%,P〈0.00001）].DDL of SC was more significantly deeper than that of TC[-133.49（95%CI：-145.94 to-121.04,I2=33%,P〈0.00001）].Other outcomes demonstrated comparable results between MC and ***：SC is more favorable at halting the progression of keratoconus,but visual acuity improvement showed comparable results between MCs and SC.

The interfacial characteristics of the Li metal anode(LMA)play a crucial role in its overall *** various materials being applied to modify the interface,a comprehensive understanding of their specific mechanisms remains to be ***,we have prepared carbon cloth(CC)frameworks with their surfaces modified using ferromagnetic metal/LiF heterogeneous films(T^(M)-LiF-CC)as the substrate for LMA,which exhibit superior electrochemical *** ferromagnetic Co as a representative example,our study demonstrates that the enhanced performance of Co-LiF-CC,compared to bare CC,is attributed to the spinpolarized interface contributed by the Co/LiF *** and LiF play individual roles in redistributing electrons and Li^(+)to promote homogeneous Li *** nanoparticles play a crucial role in generating strong surface capacitance by storing electrons in spin-split bands,while LiF,with low surface diffusion barriers,ensures fast transportation of Li^(+).The Co-LiF-CC@Li electrodes deliver long lives of 7400 and 3600 h at 1 and 2 mA·cm^(-2)in symmetric cells,respectively;moreover,they enable full batteries with high and durable capacities,particularly when the N/P ratios are low(3.3 or even 1.7).
