Effect of yang-activating and stasis-eliminating decoction from Traditional Chinese Medicine on intestinal mucosal permeability in rats with ulcerative colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium

The fall webworm,Hyphantria cunea Drury,is an irnportant introduced pest in China.A native pupa endoparasitoid,Cbouioia cunea yang (Hymenoptera:Eulophidae,Tetrastichinae),causes considerable mortality of *** pupae in some areas of *** hosts of *** were tested to find potential substitute hosts for mass rearing the *** pernyi Guerin-Meneville (Lepidoptera Saturniidae) was chosen as a surrogate host as a single pupa produced maximum of 11256 and on an average 6552 wasps per pupa.A mass-rearing technique and successful release program of this parasitoid is *** by *** in the areas where it was released was usually over 80% and on an average 67.74%.Other native parasitoids,such as Coccygomimus disparis (Viercck),*** (Viereck) (Hymenoptera:Ichneumonidae) and Exorita japonica Townes (Diptera:Tachnidae) caused the total average parasitism to exceed 90% on average with the maximum 96,28% in the release areas. These successful releases indicate that an introduced pest species can also be controlled by mass-rearing and release of native parasitoids in the country of introduction.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of decoction prepared with yang-activating and stasis-eliminating medicinals from Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) on the intestinal mucosal permeability in rats with ulcerative colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium(DSS).METHODS: Totally 55 male Wistar rats(body weight of 170-190 g) were randomly divided into the blank group(n = 10) and the model duplication group(n = 45). The blank group was not intervened, while the other was modeled with 5% dextran sulfate sodium by gavaging in a dosage of4 m L per day to induce ulcerative colitis, a total of7 days. Then, the model rats were divided into model blank group, mesalazine group and TCM group,and each group was consisted of 15 rats. They were given retention enema 10 min with normal saline,mesalazine enema(0.036 g/m L), and yang-activating and stasis-eliminating decoction [0.54 g/m L of a decoction boiled by Puhuang(Pollen Typhae), Xiebai(Bulbus Allii Macrostemonis) and Wulingzhi(Faeces Trogopteri)] for 10 days respectively. Afterwards,all of the rats were evaluated by disease activity index(DAI), histological changes of distal colon, expression of occludin protein and ultrastructure of intestinal epithelial cells. This study analyzes the horizontal and vertical migration processes of Cd contents based on the investigations conducted during May and August 1990. It reveals the dynamic balance process of Cd substance in a marine bay and shows that in the waters close to the source input, the content of Cd in the surface waters is the highest, and also the vertical dilution amount is the highest. This is the beginning of the dynamic vertical balance process. Along with distance from the source input, the sedimentation is an ongoing process, which results in a decrease in the content of Cd in the surface waters, and a reduction in the vertical dilution amount. This process continues to the balance point. In waters far away from the source input, the content of Cd is homogeneous in the waters, and the vertical dilution amount decreases to the lowest value, i.e., the balance point. Furthermore, a block diagram has been provided to demonstrate the dynamic vertical balance process.

Three new jatropholane-type diterpenoids,jatropholones C-E(1-3),along with seven other known compounds,including sikkimenoid B(4),jatrophaldehyde(5),epi-jatrophaldehyde(6),epi-jatrophol(7),jatrophol(8),jatropholone A(9),and jatropholone B(10),were isolated from the roots of a natural cultivar of Jatropha curcas(*** *** CY yang).The structural elucidations of 1-3 were accomplished by extensive NMR *** 4,6,and 8 demonstrated inhibition activity against the microorganisms with the MIC values from 0.10 to 0.18 mg/mL.

Krüppel-like factors (KLFs) are evolutionarily conserved zinc finger-containing transcription factors with diverseregulatory functions in cell growth, proliferation, differentiation, and embryogenesis. KLF4 and KLF5 are two closelyrelated members of the KLF family that have a similar tissue distribution in embryos and adults. However, the two KLFsoften exhibit opposite effects on regulation of gene transcription, despite binding to similar, if not identical, cis-actingDNA sequences. In addition, KLF4 and 5 exert contrasting effects on cell proliferation in many instances; while KLF4is an inhibitor of cell growth, KLF5 stimulates proliferation. Here we review the biological properties and biochemicalmechanisms of action of the two KLFs in the context of growth regulation.

Objective： To observe the effect of warming yang and supplementing kidney moxibustion therapy on the behavioristics and the expression levels of hippocampal IL-1β, TNF-α and NF-κB related genes and proteins of vascular dementia（VD） rats, and to explore the mechanism of warming yang and supplementing kidney moxibustion therapy in inhibiting VD inflammatory response. Methods Seventy-eight SD rats, except 10 rats as sham operation group（group A）, were established into VD models by applying the ischemia reperfusion method in bilateral common carotid arteries. 30 models were successful and were randomly divided into model group（group B）, moxibustion group（group C） and western medication group（group D）, with 10 rats in each group. After modeling, suspended moxibustion was conducted at ＂Dàzhuī（大椎GV 14）＂,＂Mìngmén（命门GV 4）＂ and ＂Guānyuán（关元CV 4）＂ of the rats in group C for15 min/time. The intervention was performed for once a day, and intervention for 4 consecutive weeks was needed. Intragastric administration with nimodipine（2 mgkg-1d-1） was carried out in the rats in group D for 4 consecutive weeks. Morris water maze test was adopted for behavioral test in the rats in each group. HE staining was conducted in order to observe the pathological changes. RT-qPCR method and Western blot method were used for detecting the expression levels of hippocampal IL-1β, TNF-αand NF-κB related genes and ***： After modeling, the Morris water maze escape latency of rats in operation groups was obviously longer than that in group A（P〈0.05）. According to HE staining results, the arrangement of neurons in group B was incompact, the cell membranes were undefined, the cytoplasm was heterogeneous, karyopyknosis was found, the amount of necrosis increased, and the number of inflammatory cells significantly increased.
