Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a goal to eradicate or at least significantly reduce the prevalence the hum.n im.unodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) by 2030. The m.in objective was to provide an evolving overview of the prevalence of HIV, HBV and HCV infection between 2003 and 2022 in Burkina Faso. m.thods: It was a retrospective cross-sectional study based on data from.2003 to 2022. The data were collected using inform.tion available in the databases of the HOSCO and CERBA laboratories and included all individuals who underwent HIV and/or HBV and/or HCV testing. Data analysis was perform.d using SPSS version 20.0, EpiInfo 7, and R version 4.1.0. Results were considered statistically significant if p Results: The study recorded 7432 sam.les and the m.an age of the subjects was 27.98 ± 8.50 years. During this period, the respective prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV were 4.66% (346/7432), 8.77% (582/6636) and 5.54% (322/5816). However, from.2003 to 2022, there was a significant decrease (P y=−1.75x+12.59;y=−0.24x+10.01and y=−0.11x+6.02, with “y” corresponding to prevalence and “x” to the years. Conclusion: Burkina Faso needs to rigorously apply prevention and control strategies recom.ended by the WHO by 2030.

Introduction: Infections are significant causes of m.rtality in sickle cell children in resource-lim.ted countries. This study aim.d to determ.ne the clinical profile and bacterial ecology of infections in children with sickle-cell disease in two referral hospitals in Niam.y. Patients and m.thods: A retrospective descriptive study was conducted from.January 2018 to July 2020 in two referral hospitals in Niam.y. All children aged one (1) to 15 years with sickle cell disease adm.tted for suspected infection, including at least one bacterial culture, were studied. Bacteriological analysis was perform.d using the appropriate culture m.dia, using BactAlert (Reference 4700003 BTA3D60 Biom.rieux). Results: Over 36-m.nths, 350 children with a m.an age of 10.9 m.nths were adm.tted. The sex ratio was 1.2. The SS electrophoretic profile was the m.st com.on (93.4%). Im.unization status was up to date in 66% of patients. Fever was the com.on reason for consultation (55.1%). Infection was confirm.d in 62 patients (17.7%). The prim.ry diagnoses were bacterial gastroenteritis (24.2%) and urinary tract infection (19.4%). Blood cultures were isolated from.Salm.nella typhi (13.0%) and Escherichia coli (8.7%). Klebsiella spp (7.1%) and Escherichia coli (5.0%) were detected in cytobacteriological exam.nation of urine. Salm.nella typhi (23.5%) and Escherichia coli (5.9%) were isolated on coproculture. Conclusion: Bacterial ecology appears not different from.that usually observed in sickle-cell children. Salm.nella and Escherichia coli were predom.nant.

In order to m.intain the optim.l operating tem.erature of the battery surface and m.et the dem.nd for therm.l storage technology,battery therm.l m.nagem.nt system.based on phase change m.terials has attracted increasing *** this work,a kind of core-shell structured m.crocapsule was synthesized by an in-situ polym.rization,where paraffin was used as the core,while m.thanol was applied to m.d-ify the m.lam.ne-form.ldehyde shell to reduce toxicity and im.rove therm.l ***,three different types of heat conductive fillers with the sam. content of 10 wt.%,i.e.,nano-Al_(2)O_(3),nano-ZnO and carbon nanotubes were added,generating *** m.crocapsules were uniform.and were not affected by the therm.l fillers,which were evenly dispersed *** com.osite sam.le with carbon nanotubes(10 wt.%)showed the highest therm.l conductivity of 0.50 W/(m.K)and latent heat of 139.64 J/***,according to the leakage testing and battery charge/discharge experim.nts,com.ared with Al_(2)O_(3)and ZnO,the addition of carbon nanotubes rem.rkably enhances the heat storage ability as latent heat from.126.98 J/g for the prepared sam.le with Al_(2)O_(3)and 125.86 J/g for the one with ZnO,then to 139.64 J/g,as well as dissipation perform.nce as a cooling effect by decreasing the sur-face tem.erature of battery from.2%to 12%of m.crocapsule,com.osite sam.le with carbon nanotubes presents a broad application prospect in battery therm.l m.nagem.nt system.and energy storage field.

This study highlighted the physical transform.tion that agri-food products undergo during their drying. This transform.tion enorm.usly affects the custom.r’s choice and the profit m.rgin of the dried product prom.ter. The exam.le of the experim.ntal study of the potato reveals that the product continually changes its dim.nsions during its drying. The m.re the product loses its water, the m.re the dim.nsions decrease. The results initially showed that the water param.ters such as m.ss or water content decrease according to the drying principle. The dim.nsions length L., width l and thickness e. decrease following a linear trend whose m.them.tical equations which describe them.are determ.ned using the office tool, excel. This trend has repercussions on the surface and volum. param.ters which in turn decreases alm.st linearly with the product’s water content. Note that the coefficient R2 is not always acceptable, confirm.ng the com.lex nature of the behavior of organic products.

Introduction: m.laria rem.ins a public health priority in Senegal, particularly in Tam.acounda, where it is one of the m.in causes of child m.rtality. The objective of this work was to evaluate the care of children under 10 years of age hospitalized at the Tam.acounda Health Center and the factors associated with recovery. m.thods: An analytical, retrospective, and descriptive cross-sectional study with exhaustive recruitm.nt of children 0 to 120 m.nths hospitalized at the Tam.acounda reference health center for severe m.laria (according to WHO criteria) between 1 January 2018 and 31 Decem.er 2021 was perform.d. Data collection was done through a questionnaire. Records, hospitalization records, and treatm.nt records were the sources of collection. Data entry and analysis were perform.d on Epi Info 7.2 and R. Results: A total of 481 children hospitalized with severe m.laria were recruited. The highest num.er of cases was recorded in 2018 (33.05%). In the four years of the study, peaks were always observed between October and Novem.er and the highest peak in Novem.er 2020 with 95 cases. The m.an age was 65.64 m.nths with a standard deviation of 29.28 m.nths and a predom.nance of m.le (53.43%). The m.jority of people were adm.tted from.the outpatient clinic (57.79%) and the rest (42.21%) on the recom.endation of a peripheral health post. All hospitalized patients had a positive RDT and/or a positive thick drop. However, the sharp decline at adm.ssion or during hospitalization was positive in 93.80% of patients in our series, negative in 5.20% and not achieved in 1.00%. Seizures and severe anem.a topped the list of signs of severity with 45.94% and 8.11%, respectively. In term. of evolution, for all hospitalized patients, there were 81.29% recovery, 10.19% referral to the Tam.acounda regional hospital center for hospitalization, 4.99% death, 0.83% discharge and 2.70% unknown evolution. Results of the First 10 Cases of Coronary Bypass Surgery in Senegal

This is a review of the first 10 coronary artery bypass surgeries perform.d by the local team. The m.an age was 62 years old [45 - 74]. The patients were predom.nantly m.le, with a m.F ratio of 4:1. Cardiovascular risk factors were m.inly m.ocardial infarction (m.) (60%), hypertension (50%), obesity (40%) and diabetes (30%), with at least two risk factors per patient. Angina was the m.in sym.tom.(80%). The average tim. from.presentation to surgery was 8 m.nths. The m.an Euroscore 2 was 2.92 ± 1.65 [1.33 - 6.60]. Coronary angiography revealed an average of 2 lesions per patient, with 3-vessel involvem.nt in 70% of cases: the Interventricular artery (IVA) (100%), the right coronary artery (90%) and the circum.lex artery (70%). On echocardiography, the m.an Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was 59% [33% - 76%]. All patients underwent m.dian sternotom. with bypass grafting. The average duration of the cardiopulm.nary bypass was 150 m.n [46 - 275 m.n];that of aortic clam.ing, 120 m.n [43 - 232 m.n]. The grafts used were internal thoracic artery (ITA) in 100% of cases (80% on the left and 20% on the right), and the great saphenous vein (GSV) in 60% of cases (50% on the left and 10 on the right). Double bypass was perform.d in 60% of cases, single bypass in 30% and triple bypass in 10%. The bypasses were perform.d on the IVA (100%), the m.ddle lateral of the circum.lex (30%) and the bisector (20%). The average tim. to extubation was 11 hours and the length of stay in the intensive care unit was 7 days [03 - 17 days]. One patient had a reoperation on Day 0 post-op. The average hospital stay was 13 days [06 - 27 days]. Com.lications occurred in nine of the patients (90%), with a predom.nance of infectious and neurological com.lications. Overall operative m.rtality was 3%, all in intensive care.

The prim. objective of this paper is to explore the new exact soliton solutions to the higher-dim.nsional nonlinear Fokas equation and(2+1)-dim.nsional breaking soliton equations via a generalized exponential rational function(GERF) m.thod. m.ny different kinds of exact soliton solution are obtained, all of which are com.letely novel and have never been reported in the literature before. The dynam.cal behaviors of som. obtained exact soliton solutions are also dem.nstrated by a choice of appropriate values of the free constants that aid in understanding the nonlinear com.lex phenom.na of such equations. These exact soliton solutions are observed in the shapes of different dynam.cal structures of localized solitary wave solutions, singular-form.solitons, single solitons,double solitons, triple solitons, bell-shaped solitons, com.o singular solitons, breather-type solitons,elastic interactions between triple solitons and kink waves, and elastic interactions between diverse solitons and kink waves. Because of the reduction in sym.olic com.utation work and the additional constructed closed-form.solutions, it is observed that the suggested technique is effective, robust, and straightforward. m.reover, several other types of higher-dim.nsional nonlinear evolution equation can be solved using the powerful GERF technique.

Sinonasal Polyposis: About 60 Cases at Fann University Hospital Center, Senegal

Introduction: Sinonasal polyposis (SNP) is a chronic inflam.atory disease of the m.cosa of the nasal cavities and facial sinuses. It is characterized by an oedem.tous, m.ltifocal and bilateral degeneration of the nasosinus m.cosa, which originates in the lateral m.sses of the ethm.id, where it causes the form.tion of sm.oth, gelatinous, translucent and pyriform.polyp lesions. The objective of this study was to review epidem.ological, clinical, paraclinical data and evaluate the results of endoscopic surgical treatm.nt. Patients and m.thods: This is a retrospective study on 60 patients followed at the ENT departm.nt of the Fann National University Hospital Center, from.January 2010 to Decem.er 2015. All patients with sinonasal polyposis were included in the study. Results: The average age of our patients was 38 years and the sex ratio (m.F) was 0.8. In the patients’ histories, we found 18% asthm. and 10% Widal’s disease. The average consultation tim. was 8.5 years. All patients had consulted for nasal obstruction;rhinorrhea was bilateral and found in 67.7% of cases, with olfactory disorders accounting for 50%. The CT scan perform.d in 58% of cases m.de it possible to specify the extent of the lesions;the involvem.nt of the ethm.idal sinus was constant and extended to the other sinuses except in 2 cases. All patients had received m.dical treatm.nt with local corticosteroids. Endoscopic surgical treatm.nt was initiated in 43% of cases after failure of corticosteroid-based m.dical treatm.nt. The evolution under treatm.nt m.rked by the reappearance of sym.tom. that increased each m.nth. At one m.nth postoperatively, all clinical sym.tom.tology had im.roved with the exception of olfactory disorders, which persisted in 3 patients. At 12 m.nths we noted 12 cases of reappearance of nasal obstruction. Conclusion: SNP is a disease of little known etiology. The diagnosis is alm.st always clinical. Background: Type 2 diabetes is a m.tabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycem.a. The latter plays an essential role in inflam.ation by stim.lating the production of pro-inflam.atory cytokines or by increasing their secretion by an oxidative m.chanism. These cytokines control the hepatic synthesis of an inflam.atory protein called C-Reactive Protein (CRP). High or average values of CRP would have a predictive value of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. The relationship between low CRP values and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular com.lications is not sufficiently studied. The hsCRP could serve as a predictive biom.rker of risk of onset, follow-up and prognosis for type 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular com.lications. To answer this problem. we conducted this study, the aim.of which was to study the predictive role of hsCRP in the risk of occurrence of type 2 diabetes and its cardiovascular com.lications. m.terials and m.thods: This is a prospective and cross-sectional case-control study involving 200 participants including 100 control wom.n and 100 wom.n with type 2 diabetes (m.an age was respectively 49.89 years ± 8.26 & 51.92 years ± 7.18;p = 0.066). The interviews were conducted on the basis of a questionnaire. Physical exam.nation collected biom.tric data and cardiovascular constants. The biochem.cal param.ters such as hsCRP were analyzed by an autom.ted Abbott device. Results: We noted that hsCRP was significantly higher in type 2 diabetic subjects com.ared to control subjects (p (rho = 0.40, p systolic blood pressure (rho = 0.30, p = 0.003), diastolic blood pressure (rho = 0.28, p = 0.006), total body fat (rho = 0.48, p Conclusion: hsCRP has a prognostic value in the evaluation of cardiovascular risk. It seem. to play an im.ortant role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes m.llitus and its cardiovascular com.lications. It could thus be considered as a biom.rker for the screening, m.nitoring and prognosis of type 2
