Advancing sandstone reservoir compressibility prediction:A correlation-driven methodology

This study presents a correlation-based approach for predicting the compressibility of sandstone reservoir *** study proposes a matrix of new empirical equations that significantly improve the precision of measuring the pore volume compressibility,with the most optimal fit of results based on a cubic polynomial *** accuracy of the calculations was validated through comparison with actual data using root mean square method,and the suggested correlations significantly enhance the precise prediction of rock compressibility in sandstone *** this study,the source of data collection is consolidated and unconsolidated sandstone from East Asia offshore ***,variations in compressibility with net overburden pressure over the course of the field's lifespan have been *** results demonstrate the application of regression analysis in establishing a network of linkages between independent and dependent *** proposed correlations for consolidated and unconsolidated sandstones offer a remarkable improvement in the accurate calculation of rock compressibility compared to traditional laboratory procedures,with an average error of 2.5%compared to 5-10%for laboratory *** approach of this study offers a cost-effective and time-efficient alternative to remarkedly enhance the overall performance of sandstone reservoirs in the oil and gas industry.

Development of Sulfuric Acid Speleogenetic Deposits within Cavernous Middle Eocene Beds:Inference on Hydrocarbon Gas Seepages,Giza Pyramids Plateau,Egypt

Development of sulfuric acid speleogenetic mineral deposits within cavernous middle Eocene beds of the Pyramids plateau is linked to hydrocarbon gas *** work carried out field observations,binocular,polarizing,scanning and transmitted electron microscopy investigation,X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence *** morphological and petrographic features and chemical composition of the studied mineral deposits reveal a hypogene sulfuric acid speleogenesis.A model comprised of the following stages can be used to explain the presence of these features.(1)Ascent of hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)gas associated with hydrocarbon seepages from the Cretaceous reservoirs under reducing conditions followed by oxidation to sulfuric acid(H_(2)SO_(4)),(2)descent of carbonic acid(H_(2)CO_(3))-rich solution generated from surface sources,(3)reaction of H_(2)SO_(4)and H_(2)CO_(3)with the calcareous and argillaceous host rocks,(4)formation of H_(2)SO_(4)speleogenetic by-products represented by natroalunite,aluminium-phosphate-sulfate,hydrated halloysite and Fe/Mn oxides within the replacive gypsum,and(5)subsequent stresses due to the formation of nearby stratiform cavities gave rise to the development of fractures/veinlets filled with displacive fibrous satinspar *** study sets the paleokarst features of the Giza Pyramids plateau within a hypogene sulfuric acid karst system developed by the action of groundwater containing H_(2)S,H_(2)SO_(4)and H_(2)CO_(3).

System size dependence in backward relativistic hadron production in pA and AA collisions

Abstract： In this comprehensive study the multiplicity characteristics of the backward emitted relativistic hadron （shower particle） through hadron-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus are overviewed in three dimensions. These dimensions are the projectile size, target size, and energy. To confirm the universality in this production system, wide ranges of system size and energy （Elab～2.1 A up to 200 A GeV） are used. The multiplicity characteristics of this hadron imply a limiting behavior with respect to the projectile size and energy. The target size is the main effective parameter in this production system. The exponential decay shapes is a characteristic feature of the backward shower particle multiplicity distributions. The decay constant changes with the target size to be nearly 2.02, 1.41, and 1.12 for the interactions with CNO, Era, and AgBr nuclei, respectively, irrespective of the projectile size and energy. While the backward production probability and average multiplicity are constants at different projectile sizes and energies, they can be correlated with the target size in power law relations.

Reconstruction of earthquake hazard in regions of sparse seismic monitoring

Studying strong motion records and the spatial distribution of ground shaking is of great importance in understanding the underlying causes of damage in earthquakes. Many regions in the world are either not instrumented or are sparsely instrumented. As such, significant opportunities for motion-damage correlations are lost. Two recent and damaging earthquakes belong to the class of lost opportunities, namely the Kashmir （Pakistan） earthquake of October 2005 and the Yogyakarta （Indonesia） earthquake of May 2006. In this paper, an overview of the importance of supply and demand studies in earthquake-stricken regions is given, followed by two examples of investigative engineering seismology aimed at reconstructing the hazard from sparse data. The paper closes with a plea for responsible authorities to invest in seismic monitoring networks in the very near future.

In this article,we have shown that bacterial DNA could act like some coils which interact with coil-like DNA of host *** decreasing the separating distance between two bacterial cellular DNA,the interaction potential,entropy,and the number of microstates of the system ***,the system gives its energy to the medium and the temperature of the host body *** could be seen as fever in *** emitting some special waves and changing the temperature of the medium,the effects of bacterial waves could be reduced and bacterial diseases could be *** investigators have shown that bacterial DNA could emit or absorb electromagnetic *** of the main experiments about bacterial waves has been done by Montagnier and his *** have shown that the genomic DNA of most pathogenic bacteria includes sequences that are able to emit electromagnetic *** results have shown that wave affects the crucial physicochemical processes in both Gram-positive and Gram-negative *** emphasis in this survey is on the development of controlling model equations and computer emulation of the model equations rather than on mathematical methods for solving the model equations and differential equations of epidemics.

Herbal extracts counteract cisplatin-mediated cell death in rat testis

Aim： To evaluate the protective effects of ginger （Gin） and roselle （Ros） against testicular damage and oxidative stress in a cisplatin （CIS）-induced rodent model. Their protective effects against CIS-induced apoptosis in testicular and epididymal sperms is also investigated. Methods： Ethanol extracts of Gin or Ros （1 g/***） were given orally to male albino rats for 26 days. This period began 21 days before a single CIS intraperitoneal injection （10 mg/kg body weight）. Results： Gin or Ros given orally significantly restored reproductive function. Both tested extracts notably reduced the CIS-induced reproductive toxicity, as evidenced by restoring the testis normal morphology. In Gin and Ros, the attenuation of CIS-induced damage was associated with less apoptotic cell death both in the testicular tissue and in the sperms. CIS-induced alterations of testicular lipid peroxidation were markedly improved by these plant extracts. Conclusion： The present results provide further insights into the mechanisms of protection against CIS-induced reproductive toxicity and confirm the essential anti-oxidant potential of both examined extracts. （Asian J Androl 2008 Mar; 10： 291-297）

Congruence Pairs of Decomposable MS-Algebras

In this paper,the authors first introduce the concept of congruence pairs on the class of decomposable MS-algebras generalizing that for principal MS-algebras(see[13]).They show that every congruence relationθon a decomposable MS-algebra L can be uniquely determined by a congruence pair(θ_(1),θ_(2)),whereθ_(1)is a congruence on the de Morgan subalgebra L^(∞)of L andθ_(2)is a lattice congruence on the sublattice D(L)of *** obtain certain congruence pairs of a decomposable MS-algebra L via central elements of ***,they characterize the permutability of congruences and the strong extensions of decomposable MS-algebras in terms of congruence pairs.

Water Quality Assessment of the River Nile System:An Overview

Objectives The main objective of the present article is to assess and evaluate the characteristics of the Nile water system , and identify the major sources of pollution and its environmental and health consequences. The article is also aimed to highlight the importance of water management via re-use and recycle of treated effluents for industrial purpose and for cultivation of desert land. Method An intensive effort was made by the authors to collect, assess and compile the available data about the River Nile. Physico-chemical analyses were conducted to check the validity of the collected data. For the determination of micro-pollutants, Gas Chromatography (GC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) were used. Heavy metals were also determined to investigate the level of industrial pollution in the river system. Results The available data revealed that the river receives a large quantity of industrial, agriculture and domestic wastewater. It is worth mentioning that the river is still able to recover in virtually all the locations, with very little exception. This is due to the high dilution ratio. The collected data confirmed the presence of high concentrations of chromium and manganese in all sediment samples. The residues of organo-chlorine insecticides were detected in virtually all locations. However, the levels of such residues are usually below the limit set by the WHO for use as drinking water. The most polluted lakes are Lake Maryut and Lake Manzala. Groundwater pollution is closely related to adjacent (polluted) surface waters. High concentrations of nutrients, ***, sulfur, heavy metals, etc. have been observed in the shallow groundwater, largely surpassing WHO standards for drinking water use. Conclusion A regular and continuous monitoring scheme shall be developed for the River Nile system. The environmental law shall be enforced to prohibit the discharge of wastewater (agricultural, domestic or industrial) to River Nile system.

In this paper,the non-stationary incompressible fluid flows governed by the Navier-Stokes equations are studied in a bounded *** study focuses on the time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations in the optimal control subject,where the control is distributed within the domain and the time-fractional derivative is proposed as Riemann-Liouville *** addition,the control object is to minimize the quadratic cost *** using the Lax-Milgram lemma with the assistance of the fixed-point theorem,we demonstrate the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution to this ***,for a quadratic cost functional subject to the time-fractional Navier-Stokes equations,we prove the existence and uniqueness of optimal ***,via the variational inequality upon introducing the adjoint linearized system,some inequalities and identities are given to guarantee the first-order necessary optimality conditions.A direct consequence of the results obtained here is that when a→1,the obtained results are valid for the classical optimal control of systems governed by the Navier-Stokes equations.
