Do osteoporosis-related vertebral fractures precede hip fractures?

AIM:To evaluate the relationship between a vertebral fracture and a hip fracture in Saudi Arabians with ***:In this retrospective study,154 Saudi Arabian patients with osteoporosis-related hip fractures were analyzed for the presence of a vertebral *** were retrieved from the IPAC(Image Picture Archiving and Computing)System,an imaging retrieval system,and were reviewed independently by two of the authors,Abid Hussain Gullenpet,and Mir Sadat-ali,and later reviewed *** admitted with proximal hip fracture who were≥50 years and had undergone Thoraco-lumber imaging and a dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA)scan were included in the *** with a history of significant trauma to the spine and those with a malignancy or connective tissue disorder were excluded from the ***:Out of 154 patients with hip fractures,78had a fracture of the femoral neck while 76 had an intertrochanteric hip *** the 111 patients whowere finally included in the study,after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria,76 patients with an average age of 67.28±12 years had no fractures of the ***-five patients with an average age of 76.9±14.5years(31.53%)had a total of 49 vertebral *** with vertebral fractures were significantly older than those without fractures Pal *** analysis showed that 11 males(18.96%)and 24 females(45.28%)had suffered a previous asymptomatic vertebral ***,all women who participated in this study and who presented with a femoral neck fracture had experienced a prior asymptomatic vertebral ***:We recommend that all elderly patients who go to the radiology department for a chest X-ray also have a DEXA scan and a lateral thoracic spine radiograph.

The evolution of the internet and its accessibility in the twenty-first century has resulted in a tremendous increase in the use of social media *** social media sources contribute to the propagation of fake news that has no real validity,but they accumulate over time and begin to appear in the feed of every consumer producing even more *** sustain the value of social media,such stories must be distinguished from the true *** a result,an automated system is required to save time and *** classification of fake news and misinformation from social media data corpora is the subject of this *** preprocessing and data improvement procedures are used to gather and preprocess two fake news *** text features are extracted using word embedding models Word2vec and Global Vectors for Word representation while textual features are extracted using n-gram approaches named Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency and Bag of Words from both datasets *** Encoder Representations from Transformers(BERT)is also employed to derive embedded representations from the input ***,three Machine Learning(ML)and two Deep Learning(DL)algorithms are utilized for fake news *** also carries out the classification of embedded outcomes generated by it in parallel with the ML and DL *** terms of overall performance,the DL-based Convolutional Neural Network stands out in the case of the first while BERT performs better in the case of the second dataset.

3-RRR planar parallel robots are utilized for solving precise material-handling problems in industrial automation ***,robust and stable control is required to deliver high accuracy in comparison to the state of the *** operation of the mechanism is achieved based on three revolute(3-RRR)joints which are geometrically designed using an open-loop spatial robotic *** inverse kinematic model of the system is derived and analyzed by using the geometric structure with three revolute *** main variables in our design are the platform base positions,the geometry of the joint angles,and links of the 3-RRR planar parallel *** variables are calcula ted based on Cayley-Menger determinants and bilateration to det ermine the final position of the platform when moving and placing ***,a proposed fractional order proportional integral derivative(FOPID)is optimized using the bat optimization algorithm to control the path tracking of the center of the 3-RRR planar parallel *** design is compared with the state of the art and simulated using the Matlab environment to validate the effectiveness of the proposed ***,real-time implementation has been tested to prove that the design performance is practical.

作为一种新兴技术,云计算对信息技术行业产生了巨大变革,并持续受到来自公共领域和私营领域的关注。随着这种技术的不断发展及广泛应用,保持其诸如服务质量(QoS)和服务等级协议(SLA)的性能是很重要的。这也是我们选择云计算提供商的一个重要参考依据。虚拟机迁移是改善虚拟机过度整合的一种主要手段,其中过度整合可能会导致应用性能下降。本文提出一种支持基础设施即服务(IaaS)和可以避免物理机过载的动态在线迁移技术。这种技术有助于快速发展的、主流的开源云平台OpenStack性能的改善。通过对OpenStack的深入研究,其核心组件帮助我们对过量负载比例进行观察。观察发现,需要一种考虑开销的动态虚拟机迁移的技术来减少过量负载导致的问题并且可以适时提高Qos及SLA的性能。本文使用单指数平滑算法来估计物理服务器在下一阶段的负载。进一步,我们提出了一种有效的基于自适应阈值策略的分布式策略,并且该策略适合易变的工作集环境。分布在本地主机上的算法可以有效地进行检测并防止过度负载,然后使用阈值策略选择合适的虚拟机来保持低负载。此外,提出了一种不同以往的运行在控制节点的算法,该算法可以有效地将虚拟机分配到负载最小的目标物理机上。这个工作有助于Openstack云平台提供包括管理及资源分发方面的改进,并符合可扩展管理目标。本方案的实现包括：分布式算法,负载获取组件及监控组件。试验结果表明我们的系统可以在合适的时候避免过载,并且仿真结果表明我们的方法在减少SLA违反及降低虚拟机迁移次数上面能够取得很好的效果。

This study investigates an innovative hybrid system that combines hydroponics and microalgae in a compact portable shipping *** container is divided into two parts;one contains the microalgae system and the other contains the hydroponic *** combined system works by dividing the 24 hours into 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark for each *** parts are connected using light-impermeable pipes that pass carbon dioxide from the dark side to the lit side and oxygen from the lit side to the dark *** this paper,the authors developed a validated mathematical model for hydroponic and microalgae to evaluate the system’s *** found by the model show the optimum parameters for the split photobioreactor and hydroponic *** first investigated parameter is the sparger diameter for split the photobioreactor and the second is the number of plants that give the better and optimum *** optimum modelling design for the combined hydroponic and microalgae system was using 100 plants for lettuce and three photobioreactors with a 0.009-m diameter for sparger to a photobioreactor system with an area of 15.6 m^(2).

Energy Management of a Battery Storage and D-STATCOM Integrated Power System Using the Fractional Order Sliding Mode Control

At present,the power system is more inclined towards disturbances,such as voltage variations and unbalanced load conditions,due to the grid's complexity and load *** challenges emphasize the integration of the compensating devices,such as battery storage(BS)and *** this regard,this current paper exhibits a novel energy management system(EMS)of a combined BS and D-STATCOM to compensate the power system during *** EMS is based on a fractional order sliding mode control(FOSMC)to drive the voltage source converters(VSCs)such that the active power is independently absorbed/injected by the BS,whereas the reactive power is independently absorbed/injected by the D-STATCOM depending upon the disturbance *** is a robust non-linear controller in which the Riemann-Liouville(RL)function is employed to design the sliding surface and the exponential reaching law is used to minimize the chattering *** stability of the FOSMC in the proposed EMS is proved using the Lyapunov candidate *** order to validate the performance of the proposed EMS,a model of a 400 V,180 kVA radial distributor along with a BS and D-STATCOM is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment in two test *** results prove that the proposed EMS with FOMSC effectively compensates the power system under voltage variations and unbalanced load conditions with rapid tracking,fast convergence and upright ***,the results have been compared with the classical proportional integral(PI)control and fixed frequency SMC(FFSMC),and they demonstrate the superiority of the proposed EMS with FOSMC in power system applications.

Improvement of mobility edge model by using new density of states with exponential tail for organic diode

The mobility edge （ME） model with single Gaussian density of states （DOS） is simplified based on the recent exper- imental results about the Einstein relationship. The free holes are treated as being non-degenerate, and the trapped holes are dealt with as being degenerate. This enables the integral for the trapped holes to be easily realized in a program. The J-V curves are obtained through solving drift-diffusion equations. When this model is applied to four organic diodes, an obvious deviation between theoretical curves and experimental data is observed. In order to solve this problem, a new DOS with exponential tall is proposed. The results show that the consistence between J-V curves and experimental data based on a new DOS is far better than that based on the Gaussian DOS. The variation of extracted mobility with temperature can be well described by the Arrhenius relationship.

Risk factors for ventilator-associated pneumonia in trauma patients:A descriptive analysis

BACkGROUND:We sought to evaluate the risk factors for developing ventilator-associated pneumonia(VAP)and whether the location of intubation posed a risk in trauma ***:Data were retrospectively reviewed for adult trauma patients requiring intubation for>48 hours,admitted between 2010 and ***’demographics,clinical presentations and outcomes were compared according to intubation location(prehospital intubation[PHI]*** room[TRI])and presence *** of *** regression analysis was performed to identify predictors of ***:Of 471 intubated patients,332 patients met the inclusion criteria(124 had PHI and208 had TRI)with a mean age of 30.7±14.8 *** group had lower GCS(P=0.001),respiratory rate(P=0.001),and higher frequency of head(P=0.02)and chest injuries(P=0.04).The rate of VAP in PHI group was comparable to the TRI group(P=0.60).Patients who developed VAP were 6 years older,had significantly lower GCS and higher ISS,head AIS,and higher rates of *** overall mortality was 7.5%,and was not associated with intubation location or pneumonia *** the early-VAP group,gram-positive pathogens were more common,while gram-negative microorganisms were more frequently encountered in the late VAP *** regression analysis and modeling showed that the impact of the location of intubation in predicting the risk of VAP appeared only when chest injury was included in the ***:In trauma,the risk of developing VAP is ***,the location of intubation and presence of chest injury could play an important role.

Resveratrol Modulates Bone Mineral Density and Bone Mineral Content in A Rat Model of Male Hypogonadism

Objective: To determine whether resveratrol(Res) can correct osteoporosis induced in a rat model of male hypogonadism. Methods: Thirty-two rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, 8 in each group;1) a control sham group: underwent a similar surgical procedure for induction of orchiectomy(ORCD) without ligation of any arteries or veins or removal of the testis and epididymis;2) a control + Res-treated group(Con+Res):underwent sham surgery similar to the control, but was then treated with Res, as described below;3) an ORCDinduced group: bilateral ORCD surgery as described above, and 4) a ORCD+Res-treated group: bilateral ORCD surgery followed by Res treatment. Res treatment began 4 weeks after ORCD and continued for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, bone mineral density(BMD) and bone mineral content(BMC) were measured in the tibia and femur of each rat’s right hind leg. Blood levels of bone turnover indicators such as deoxypyridinoline(Dpd), N-telopeptide of type Ⅰ collagen(NTXⅠ), alkaline phosphatase(alP), and osteocalcin(OC), as well as receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B(RANk) and osteoprotegerin(OPG) were assessed. Results: ORCD significantly decreased BMD(Pk. In addition, it inhibited serum levels of OPG and OC. Res treatment after ORCD effectively increased serum levels of bone formation markers such as OPG and OC, compared with testisectomized rats(Pale hypogonadism, possible via restoration of the normal balance between RANk and OPG.
