Let a be an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring r and M be a finitely generated r-module of dimension d. We characterize Cohen-Macaulay rings in term of a special homological dimension. Lastly, we prove that if r is a complete local ring, then the Matlis dual of top local cohomology module Ha^d（M） is a Cohen-Macaulay r-module provided that the r-module M satisfies some conditions.

Various methods are proposed to control scouring around bridge piers. In the present study application of riprap alone and combinations of riprap and collar were examined experimentally for scour control around cylindrical bridge piers. Tests were conducted with seven riprap sizes and with two different sizes of collars. Empirical equations were developed for stable riprap diameter for two cases of piers with and without collar protection. Extent of riprap layer is also presented for these two cases. The results showed that in the range of b/dr≤7.5 (where b is pier diameter and dr is riprap size) using a collar reduced the stable riprap size. It was also concluded that using collar reduced the riprap layer extension in front and sides of the pier.

Prediction of peak ground acceleration of Iran's tectonic regions using a hybrid soft computing technique

A new model is derived to predict the peak ground acceleration（PGA） utilizing a hybrid method coupling artificial neural network（ANN） and simulated annealing（SA）, called SA-ANN. The proposed model relates PGA to earthquake source to site distance, earthquake magnitude, average shear-wave velocity,faulting mechanisms, and focal depth. A database of strong ground-motion recordings of 36 earthquakes,which happened in Iran’s tectonic regions, is used to establish the model. For more validity verification,the SA-ANN model is employed to predict the PGA of a part of the database beyond the training data domain. The proposed SA-ANN model is compared with the simple ANN in addition to 10 well-known models proposed in the literature. The proposed model performance is superior to the single ANN and other existing attenuation models. The SA-ANN model is highly correlated to the actual records（r=0.835 and r =0.0908） and it is subsequently converted into a tractable design equation.

The actin cytoskeleton plays a role in mobility of many different organelles in plant cells, including chloroplasts, mitochondria, Golgi, and peroxisomes. While progress has been made in identifying the myosin motors involved in trafficking of various plant organelles, not all of the cargoes mobilized by different members of the myosin XI family have yet been identified. The involvement of myosins in chloroplast positioning and mitochondrial movement was demonstrated by expression of a virus-induced gene silencing （VIGS） construct in tobacco. When VIGS with two different conserved sequences from a myosin Xl motor was performed in plants with either GFP-labeled plastids or mitochondria, chloroplast positioning in the dark was abnormal, and mitochondrial movement ceased. Because these and prior obser- vations have implicated a role for myosins and the actin cytoskeleton in plastid and stromule movement, we searched for myosin tail domains that could associate with plastids and stromules. While a yellow fluorescent protein （YFP） fusion with the entire tail region of myosin XI-F was usually found only in the cytoplasm, we observed that an Arabidopsis or Nicotiana benthamiana YFP：：myosin XI-F tail domain homologous to the yeast myo2p vacuole-binding domain associated with plastids and stromules after transient expression in N. benthamiana. Taken together, these observations implicate myosin motor proteins in dynamics of plastids and stromules.

Nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide（NrGO）sheets decorated with Co（OH）;nanoflakes were prepared by a single-step hydrothermal *** morphological and structural characterizations of as synthesized Nr GO@Co（OH）;nanoflakes were performed by field emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM）,EDX-mapping and X-ray diffraction（XrD）.Nr GO@Co（OH）;nanoflakes modified glassy carbon electrode（GCE）was used for electrochemical sensing of dopamine in neutral *** nanocomposite modified electrode showed enhanced electrochemical sensing ability for the detection of dopamine and the limit of detection（Lo D）was found to be 0.201μM with a sensitivity value of 0.0286±0.002 m A m M;.Interference studies revealed that Nr GO@Co（OH）;─GCE endow excellent selectivity for DA detection even in the presence of higher concentration of common co-existing physiological interfering ***,proposed sensor demonstrated excellent performance in urine samples with promising reproducibility and stability.

This study investigated the effect of Zn foil layers on the microstructure and corrosion characteristics of friction stir welded aluminum alloy *** of various joints were prepared by applying different rotational and welding speeds,and their microstructures were evaluated via a metallographic technique and scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy elemental *** anticorrosion behavior of joints in the absence and presence of a Zn interlayer was studied by cyclic potentiodynamic polarization test in 3.5 wt% Na Cl aqueous solution,and sound welds were obtained in the presence of the Zn interlayer *** results revealed that the joint made at a rotational speed of 800 r/min and traveling speed of 15 mm/min achieved a chemical composition identical to that of aluminum alloy 7 xxx series,and as such,it showed the best resistance to corrosion.

The most important parameter used to determine force reduction factors in force-based design procedures adopted in the current seismic codes is the structural ductility. For a structure supported on a flexible foundation, the ductility factor could be affected by foundation compliances. The ductility factors given in the current codes are mostly assigned ignoring the effect of SSI and therefore the objective of this research is to assess the significance of SSI phenomenon on ductility factors of stack-like structures. The deformed configuration of stack-fike structures is idealized as an assemblage of beam elements considering nonlinear moment-curvature relations, while a linear sway-rocking model was implemented to model the supporting soil. Using a set of artificial records, repeated linear and nonlinear analyses were performed by gradually increasing the intensity of acceleration to a level where the first yielding of steel in linear and nonlinear analyses is observed and a level corresponding to the stack collapse in the nonlinear analysis. The difference between inelastic and elastic resistance in terms of displacement ductility factors has been quantified. The results indicate that foundation flexibility can decrease the ductility of the system and neglecting this phenomenon may lead to erroneous conclusions in the prediction of the seismic performance of flexibly-supported r/C stack-like structures.

In this paper, it is shown that dim Supp Hi a（M） ≤ 1 for all i 〈 t if and only if there exists an ideal b of r such that dimr/b ≤ 1 and Hia（M） ≌ Hi b（M） for all i 〈 t. Moreover, we prove that dimSuppHia（M）〈≤dim M - i for all i.
