Zinc oxide nanoparticles accelerate the healing of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MrSA)-infected wounds in rabbits

Objective:To synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles(ZnONPs)and evaluate their antibacterial and wound healing effects against wounds infected with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MrSA).Methods:ZnONPs were prepared by sol-gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XrD)analysis and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).A total of 18 rabbits were divided into three groups:the ZnONPs group,the gentamicin group and the control group.A wound of 3 cm^(2) was inflicted on each rabbit and contaminated with MrSA *** was started from the fourth day *** healing,microbiological analysis,and histopathological analysis were performed to assess the efficacy of ZnONPs ***:XrD analysis confirmed the hexagonal wurtzite structure of the ZnONPs with an average crystallite size of 29.23 *** revealed discoid-shaped ZnONPs with a rough surface and an average size of 48.36 ***-dispersive X-ray analysis confirmed the purity of ***,the particle size ranged from 100-700 nm with a high agglomeration *** with ZnONPs promoted MrSA-infected wound *** addition,ZnONPs showed a good antibacterial effect as evidenced by a dose-dependent increase in the zone of ***:ZnONPs accelerate the healing of MrSA-infected ***,it can be explored for the treatment of MrSA infection.

From Faith Healer to a Medical Doctor: Creating Biomedical Hegemony

The present research was conducted in Zandra village of Ziarat district in the province of Balochistan. Anthropological research techniques were used to collect empirical data. In this article, an effort has been made to understand the natives’ cultural beliefs and practices in health care sector. The main focus of this research was to understand the nature of development, internal and external factors responsible for the changes and the actual beneficiaries of the development. An effort has also been made to find out the health care systems working in the village which included both faith healing and allopathic medicines. Initially the natives were using traditional and spiritual healing systems, but now as their economic condition and literacy rate are increasing, they are more inclined towards the modern methods of treatment. During the last 3 decades, many changes have been witnessed. Awareness through media and shift from subsistence to market economy have increased the use of allopathic medicines due to the fact that the natives have started opting for secondary sources of income. Besides, researcher’s endeavor to explore the shift from traditional to modern healthcare and the disparity between natives’ health related beliefs and practices, the impact of which has been analyzed in light of world system theory at micro level.

Bioceutical Properties of Culinary Herbs, Spices and Their Possible Outcomes with Standard Antibiotics

Culinary condiments have been used for centuries to treat several types of ailments. Four ethanolic lipid fractions including Nigella sativa, Foeniculum vulgare, Laurus nobilis, and Coriandrum sativum were selected to assess their antimicrobial potential alone and combined with antibiotics. Antibacterial activity was determined by various conventional procedures such as aromatogram test, well diffusion, macro-broth dilution, disc diffusion assay. The tested lipid fractions exhibited antibacterial activity against selected bacterial strains. Antibacterial activity of lipid fractions was also seen within two hours of incubation. Background:Kashmir has a population that largely consumes polished rice which is deficient in ***,lactating women in this region are prone to severe thiamine deficiency because of their traditional food avoidance *** beriberi is common in exclusively breastfed infants of thiamine deficient mothers in ***:This was a one year prospective hospitalbased *** included 50 exclusively breastfed infants in our *** patients were evaluated as per unit protocol including complete septic workup and metabolic *** of our patients belonged to low and middle income group families,and mothers were on customary dietary *** and anthropometric data were collected from all the study *** addition,data regarding the treatments received by the study population and overall mortality were ***:The mean age,male:female ratio,and mean weight of the study population were 3.15±0.97 months,1.5∶1,and 5.1±1.1 kg,*** food avoidance practices were followed by 80% of the *** was observed in 40 (80%) *** was observed in 30 (60%).Septic workup including cerebro spinal fluid analysis was normal in all *** magnetic resonance imaging finding was bilateral basal ganglia *** blood thiamine diphosphate levels showed a drastic decrease (10-49 nmol/L).Ten percent of the study infants ***:In exclusively breasffed infants,we observed acute infantile encephalopathy with epidemiological,clinical,biochemical,and radiological features suggestive of infantile Wernicke's encephalopathy and a favourable therapeutic response to thiamine supplementation during the acute stage.

有关中巴经济走廊的研究很多,一些作者和学者认为该项目给两国带来了巨大的经济、社会变革。通过贸易、商业和创造就业机会为两国带来了巨大的经济利益,也有学者持消极的看法。本研究以中巴光纤电缆项目为研究对象,以相关书籍、文章、报道、视频和新闻资料为基础,探讨中巴光纤电缆项目在中巴关系中的作用。中巴友谊是全天候友谊,两国保持了近70年的友谊。2013年5月,中国国务院总理李克强在访问巴基斯坦时首次提出中巴经济走廊远景规划,以协助巴基斯坦进行基础设施扩建与升级为基础,旨在加强中巴之间交通、能源、海洋等领域的交流与合作,加强两国互联互通,促进两国共同发展。中巴光纤电缆项目（CPFOP）是中巴经济走廊（CPEC）的子项目,该项目于2014年推出,2016年启动。中巴光纤电缆项目将是改善吉尔吉特-巴尔提斯坦人民生活方式的完美模式,为该地区的贸易打开市场,使两国人文交流更加紧密。研究发现该项目不仅惠及吉尔吉特-巴尔提斯坦和开伯尔-普赫图赫瓦民众,而且也在旅游和贸易方面对中国人民有益。尽管该项目有很多好处,但由于巴基斯坦是发展中国家,巴基斯坦政府正面临和可能面临一系列问题,因此中巴光纤项目进展也存在一些挑战。本文对上述问题进行了分析和探讨,并评价了美中贸易战对CPEC项目的影响以及印度在CPEC项目上的两难处境,此外,美国、英国等世界各国对CPEC项目都有浓厚的兴趣。本研究共分六个部分:第一章为绪论,介绍了中巴光纤电缆项目的背景和意义,梳理了国内外研究现状,并提出研究问题-为什么中巴光纤电缆项目对两国有重要意义及主要论点:基于经济、社会稳定和安全因素的考虑,该项目对加强两国互联互通和共同发展具有重要意义。第二章论述了中巴光纤电缆项目的地缘战略意义。研究表明,中巴光纤电缆项目对巴基斯坦国内政治稳定产生了重大影响,因为该地区以往被政党和政府所忽视,现在由于该项目的启动,政府将关注该地区的发展。本章也分析了该项目作为“一带一路”倡议的重要组成部分对中巴关系产生的影响。第三章是中巴光纤电缆项目的经济效益分析。本章揭示了该项目如何对吉尔吉特-巴尔提斯坦和开伯尔-普赫图赫瓦人民的经济和社会地位产生重大影。第四章分析了该项目对促进中巴人文交流发挥的作用。巴基斯坦在安全问题方面面临不稳定和反恐战争,但是如今,数字连接可以监视与安全有关的问题,并为平民提供快速的互联网连接,旅游业正在日益提升国家的积极形象。本章还论述了借助中巴光纤电缆项目汉语在巴基斯坦不断推广,在一些城市巴基斯坦乌尔都语也得到了发展。第五章是关于中巴光纤电缆项目的社会反应及其他国家的看法。该研究分析了该项目面临的内部和外部的挑战与机遇,并作出展望。第六章是研究结论和建议,研究表明中巴光纤电缆项目在加强中巴双边关系和促进地区和平安全方面发挥重要作用。该项目一举两得,既可以联通巴基斯坦人民同世界各国的联系,同时为铺设光缆而修建的道路也让运输更便利。研究还表明,中巴经济走廊（CPEC）及其子项目的透明度正在吸引世界大国,他们希望参与这些项目。美国、俄罗斯、欧盟和中国等国都认识到这些项目的重要性,并认为它们是巴基斯坦新的游戏规则改变者。

Micro rNA是乳腺上皮细胞乳脂代谢的重要调控因子。mirNA属于非编码rNA家族,约22个核苷酸左右。并通过与m rNA的3’未翻译区域(3’UTr)结合来调节其靶基因的表达。先前有研究报道,乳腺中mirNA的表达能够影响了乳腺发育进程、脂肪代谢和泌乳等相关功能。体外培养的牛乳腺上皮细胞(BMECs)因其泌乳的能力而被广泛用作研究牛奶生产及其乳成分的实验细胞模型。虽然不同mirNA在BMECs中乳脂合成中的作用已经被证实,但迄今为止,mirNA在乳脂合成中的大部分功能尚不清楚。而乳制品行业将利用新的分子标记和调控因子来进一步提高动物的乳品质性状来生产更加优质的牛奶。本课题组前期建立了中国荷斯坦奶牛乳腺上皮细胞系。同时也对高乳脂和低乳脂中国荷斯坦奶牛乳腺上皮细胞系进行了转录组学分析,筛选鉴定出了一批可能与乳脂代谢相关的差异表达mirNA,而mir-148a就是其中一员。本研究中,我们以bta-mir-148a作为研究对象来探究其对乳脂合成中的作用,以期为进一步提升乳品质性状应用于未来奶牛的分子育种奠定基础。本研究主要分为以下四部分:Bta-mir-148a在BMEC脂肪合成中的作用本课题组前期研究结果表明,高乳脂中国荷斯坦牛BMECs的bta-mir-148a表达量显著高于低乳脂中国荷斯坦牛。用bta-mir-148a mimic,inhibitor和sh NC转染BMECs 24小时后,在荧光显微镜下观察BMECs的形态和转染效率。显微镜下观察发现,奶牛乳腺上皮细胞形态未有明显改变,GFP的表达也验证了细胞转染的成功。使用荧光定量PCr技术检测转染bta-mir-148a mimic,inhibitor和sh NC组的BMECs中bta-mir-148a的相对表达水平。bta-mir-148a-mimic转染的BMEC中bta-mir-148a的相对m rNA表达显著高于sh NC转染的BMECs(Pr-148a-inhibitor转染的BMECs的相对表达显著降低(Pr-148a在脂肪合成中的作用主要是通过检测细胞内TG和CHOL含量来确定的。结果表明:转染bta-mir-148a-mimic的BMECs中TG和CHO的含量显著低于sh NC组。此外,与sh NC组相比,转染bta-mir-148a-inhibitor的BMECs中TG和CHO的含量显著增加。因此,我们的结果表明,bta-mir-148a对BMECs中的TG和CHO含量具有负调节作用。Bta-mir-148a的靶基因鉴定本研究旨在验证中国荷斯坦牛中参与BMECs乳脂合成的bta-mir-148a的靶基因。利用q PCr和WB技术对转染bta-mir-148a mimic、inhibitor和mir-sh NC的BMECs中KLF6基因的表达量进行检测。通过生物信息学分析发现KLF6基因的3’UTr中存在btamir-148a的结合位点,并通过双荧光素酶报告系统进行验证。q PCr和WB结果表明,与mir-sh NC相比,bta-mir-148a-mimic中KLF6基因的表达量显著降低,而bta-mir-148ainhibitor组KLF6基因的表达量显著上调。双荧光素酶报告系统的结果表明,为了评估荧光素酶报告载体活性,将pmir-rB-rEPOrTTM-KLF6-3’-UTr-野生型和pmir-rBrEPOrTTM-KLF6-3’-UTr-突变型与bta-mir-148a-mimic共同转染到BMEC中。结果表明,与KLF6突变型+bta-mir-148a-mimic组相比,KLF6野生型+bta-mir-148a-mimic组的相对荧光素酶活性显著降低(Pr-148a-mimic相比,KLF6-突变型+bta-mir-148a-mimic组的荧光素酶活性显著增加(Pr-148a直接靶向KLF6 m rNA的3’-UTr序列。3’-UTr区结合位点处的碱基突变会引发脱靶效应。因此,生物信息学分析、q PCr、western blot和荧光素酶报告分析的结果证实KLF6是bta-mir-148a的靶基因。KLF6对BMECs脂肪合成中的作用通过构建KLF6基因的过表达和沉默载体,以阐明KLF6基因在BMECs对乳脂合成的影响。分别用p BI-CMV3-KLF6和pb7sk-KLF6-sh rNA1载体转染BMECs来实现KLF6的过表达和干扰。结果表明,在转染pb7sk-KLF6-sh rNA的BMECs中,KLF6 m rNA和蛋白水平表达量显著降低。用

Winter-Spring Precipitation Variability in Pakistan

This study investigates the spatial-temporal variability of winter-spring (February-March-April) precipitation (WSP) in Pakistan over the period of 1961-2006 by making use of Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF). The EOF analysis is based on ground observed data, reanalysis NCEP/NCAr of various geopotential heights and NOAA extended reconstructed sea surface temperatures (ErSST.v3). The significant modes are obviously variable at interannual time scale. The leading mode shows the node of maximum spatial variability anchored over the Peshawar Valley and Azad Kashmir (PVAK) axis. The pattern is associated with strong (weak) westerly jet over the Middle East. The pattern is also found closely associated with post monsoon and early winter El Nino. The Nino4 index can be an appropriate predictor for the first consistent single node pattern. The second significant mode represents a tripole pattern with areas of prominent variability over northwestern Pakistan, Quetta-Kalat region and northeastern Punjab. The pattern is found to be pro-NAO and in relation to this pattern, warm and stable SST anomalies appearing in the southern mid-latitudes of Indian and Atlantic basins.

Salinity is one of the major abiotic factors that limit the growth and productivity of *** application of plant growth regulators(PGrs)may help plants ameliorate the negative impacts of ***,a field experiment was conducted at the Botanical Garden University of Balochistan,Quetta,to explore the potential role of PGrs,i.e.,moringa leaf extract(MLE;10%),proline(PrO;1μM),salicylic acid(SA;250μM),and thiourea(TU;10 mM)in ameliorating the impacts of salinity(120 mM)on Plantago ovata,an important medicinal *** hampered plant photosynthetic pigments and metabolites but elevated oxidative ***,foliar application of PGrs enhanced photosynthetic pigments,including Chl b(21.11%),carotenoids(57.87%)except Chl a,activated the defense mechanisms by restoring and enhancing the metabolites,i.e.,soluble sugars(49.68%),soluble phenolics(33.34%),and proline(31.47%),significantly under salinity ***,foliar supplementation of PGrs under salt stress led to a decrease of about 43.02%and 43.27%in hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde content,***,PGrs can be recommended for improved photosynthetic efficiency and metabolite content that can help to get better yield under salt stress,with the best and most effective treatments being those of PrO and MLE to predominately ameliorate the harsh impacts of salinity.

regional and Monthly Assessment of Extraterrestrial Solar radiations in Pakistan

The monthly extraterrestrial solar radiations (ESr) have been simulated separately for all the months of the year. The subtropical location and distribution of mountains and their height determine the spatial distribution and amount of ESr in Pakistan. The mountains, piedmonts, enclosed valleys and plains show distinct diversity of ESr values. The assessment acknowledged that countries like Pakistan with ever increasing demand of energy receive sufficient amount of ESr that could be linked with solar irradiance where development of solar energy has great potential. The simulation was done with the help of ArcGIS based on distributed modeling.
