Incidence and characteristics of HBV reactivation in hematological malignant patients in south Egypt

AIM:To investigate characteristics of hepatitis B virus(HBV)implicated in HBV reactivation in patients with hematological malignancies receiving immunosuppressive ***:Serum samples were collected from 53 patients with hematological malignancies negative for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)before the start of and throughout the chemotherapy *** reactivation was diagnosed when the HBsAg status changed from negative to positive after the initiation of chemotherapy and/or when HBV DNA was detected by realtime detection polymerase chain reaction(RTD-PCR).For detecting the serological markers of HBV infection,HBsAg as well as antibodies to the core antigen(antiHBc)and to the surface antigen were measured in the sera by *** acids were extracted from sera,and HBV DNA sequences spanning the S gene were amplified by *** extracted DNA was further subjected to PCR to amplify the complete genome as well as the specific genomic sequences bearing the enhancerⅡ/core promoter/pre-core/core regions(nt1628-2364).Amplicons were sequenced ***:Thirty-five(66%)of the 53 HBsAg-negative patients were found to be negative serologically for antiHBc,and the remaining 18(34%)patients were positive for *** of the 53(9.4%)patients with hematologic malignancies experienced HBV *** D1 was detected in all five *** types of mutant strains were detected in the S gene product of HBV strains and were isolated from 3 patients with HBV reactivation:T/S120,L143,and *** DNA was detected in the pretreatment HBsAg-negative samples in one of the five patients with HBV *** this patient,sequences encompassing the HBV full genome obtained from sera before the start of chemotherapy and at the time of de novo HBV hepatitis were detected and it showed 100%***,in the phylogenetic tree,the sequences were clustered together,thereby indicating that this patient developed reactivation from an occult

Salivary Gland Tumors: Randomized Study of Adjuvant Chemo-Radiotherapy versus Radiotherapy Alone

Objective: Concurrent chemoradiation value of the resected salivary tumor adjuvant context against regular radiation therapy alone. Design: Prospective randomized clinical trial. Patients: 48 patients were randomized to either adjuvant postoperative radiology alone versus concurrent chemoradiotherapy (weekly cisplatin 40 mg/m2 for 6 cycles) “with resected high-risk salivary tumors of the large and minor salivary gland”. Main Outcome Measures: Recurrent locoregional Free survival, distant free survival, and overall survival. Results: Out of the 48 participants in the study 31 patients had parotid gland tumors. 23 patients received solely adjuvant radiation while 25 patients received concurrent chemoradiotherapy. In the chemoradiation group, platinum-based regimens were employed in all. The mean age in both groups was 48 years. Adenoid cystic carcinoma was the primary pathogenic form of both arms 56% (28 cases). Stage II patients were 35% and 32%, stage III was 39% and 48% and stage VIa were 26% and 20% in the radiation arm and chemoradiotherapy arm respectively. 40 of 48 patients (83%) had close or positive surgical margins and 30 of 48 patients (62%) have a perineural invasion. Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the leading causes of death induced by cancer in the modern world and majority of the cases are related to chronic hepatitis B virus(HBV)***-encoded X protein(HBx)is known to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of viral induced *** is a multifunctional protein of17 kDa which modulates several cellular processes by direct or indirect interaction with a repertoire of host factors resulting in *** might interfere with several cellular processes such as oxidative stress,DNA repair,signal transduction,transcription,protein degradation,cell cycle progression and apoptosis.A number of reports have indicated that HBx is one of the most common viral ORFs that is often integrated into the host genome and its sequence variants play a crucial role in *** mutational or deletion analysis it was shown that carboxy terminal of HBx has a likely role in protein-protein interactions,transcriptional transactivation,DNA repair,cell,signaling and pathogenesis of *** accumulated evidence thus far suggests that it is difficult to understand the mechanistic nature of HBx associated HCC,and HBx mediated transcriptional transactivation and signaling pathways may be a major *** article addresses the role of HBx in the development of HCC with particular emphasis on HBx mutants and their putative targets.

Effects of low intensity laser irradiation phototherapy on dental pulp constructs

AIM: To investigate low intensity laser irradiation phototherapy(LILIP) on the proliferation, mineralization and degradation of dental pulp ***: Stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth(SHED) were grown to confluence and seeded on collagen scaffolds to create dental pulp constructs. LILIP was delivered to the dental pulp constructs using an 830 nm GaA IAs laser at an output power of 20 m W. The LILIP energy density was 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, and 2.4 J/cm2. After 8 d, the cell proliferation and degradation within the dental pulp constructs were measured using histologic criteria. After 28 d, the effect of LILIP on SHED mineralization was assessed by von Kossa ***: SHED proliferation within the dental pulp constructs varied after exposure to the 0.4, 0.8, 1.2,and 2.4 J/cm2 LILIP energy densities(P ell proliferation of up to 73% of the untreated(non-LILIP) control(P < 0.05). The amount of mineral produced by SHED increased over time up to 28 d(P < 0.05). The 0.8 and 1.2J/cm2 LILIP energy densities were the most effective at stimulating the increased the mineralization of the SHED from 150%-700% compared to untreated(nonLILIP) control over 28 d(P < 0.05). Production of Mayonnaise from Date Pit Oil

Chemical compositionof the residual pits from processing of date (Phoenix dactylifera L.) variety khalas from AL-Hasa region–Saudi Arabia was investigated. The extracted oil from residual pits was analyzed for its physico-chemical properties, (refractive index, colour, acid value, peroxide value, iodine number, saponification number and unsaponifiable matter), total phenols, tocopherol content, fatty acid composition, hydrocarbons, and sterol compounds by gas liquid chromatography, and oxidative stability by Rancimat method at 100℃ ± 2℃. Mineral content of date pits was analyzed by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Date pit oil was used to replace conventional oil in producing mayonnaise, and sensory qualities were evaluated in comparison with commercial mayonnaise prepared from corn oil. The data demonstrated that mayonnaise containing date pit oil was superior in sensory characteristics as compared with control manufactured from corn oil. Results showed that the date pit oil could be used as nontraditional oil in some food processing such as mayonnaise products.

Presepsin and Procalcitonin as Potential Biomarkers for Early Diagnosis and Prognosis of Sepsis in Critically Ill Patients

Background: Sepsis has a poor prognosis for critically ill patients, even with intensive management. Early diagnosis of sepsis and detection of patients with worsening prognosis are important for immediate intervention to improve the clinical outcome. Objective: To investigate serum presepsin (PS) and procalcitonin (PCT) as early diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for sepsis in critically ill patients. Methods: 60 critically ill patients with sepsis were subdivided into three groups of sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock according to Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHEII) and quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) scores. Patients were compared with 20 age and sex matched controls. Serum PS and PCT were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Serum PS and PCT levels were significantly increased in septic patients than controls, and their increase was positively correlated with progression of sepsis severity till reached the highest levels in septic shock. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for predicting sepsis revealed that PS has the highest area under curve (AUC) (0.967) with 97.5% sensitivity, 85% specificity and cut-off of >635.5

本研究确定了一家公司的财务状况,公司需要对这些财务报表进行分析。通过对公司财务报表的分析,可以看出公司是在进步还是在受挫。本研究采用流动性比率、偿付能力比率和盈利能力比率三个比率,来确定高铁印尼-中国公司过去五年的财务状况。本项目的最终目标是财务报表。通过对公司现有数据进行注释,经验数据复制了公司资产负债表和损益表上的记录和信件。我们使用了高铁印尼中国2015年至2019年的二级数据、资产负债表和损益表。我们使用的数据分析是基于流动比率、速动比率、现金比率、负债与资产比率、负债与权益比率、长期负债与权益比率、净利润率、总资产回报率和权益回报率来评估公司财务健康状况的定量分析。本研究的结果基于对2015年至2019年财务比率的分析。高铁印尼中国公司财务状况相对健康。据说这家公司是一家相当健康的公司,因为这些公司有很好的比率价值。从比率上看,流动比率、速动比率、现金比率、负债资产比率、负债权益比率、长期负债权益比率处于良好的位置。因此,净利润率处于一个相当好的位置。同时,总资产收益率,和净资产收益率,处于一个不健康的位置,因为所拥有比率的价值低于余额的标准权重。

Phytochemical studies and anti-ulcerative colitis effect of Moringa oleifera seeds and Egyptian propolis methanol extracts in a rat model

Objective: To analyze the phytochemical constituents, and to explore potential protective effect of the methanol extract of Moringa oleifera(M. oleifera) seeds and Egyptian propolis, each alone or concurrently administered on acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis in rats. Methods: Eight groups of 5 rats each were used: normal control group with distilled water, model group, two groups with M. oleifera seeds(100 and 200 mg/kg), two groups with propolis(50 and 100 mg/kg), one group with concurrent administration of both, and one group with prednisolone(reference drug). Macro-and microscopic picture, ulcer index and lesion scores, oxidative markers, inflammatory mediators, in vitro activity of the inflammatory enzymes and 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl free radicals scavenging activity were evaluated. The phytochemical constituents of both extracts were explored by GC-MS analysis. Results: Both treatments modulated the macro-and microscopic picture, decreased the ulcerative index, lesion score, oxidative markers and inflammatory mediators, and inhibited the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes. Propolis appeared to be powerful free radicals scavenger. A powerful synergistic effect of both treatments in modulating the course of the disease was reported. GCMS analysis of methanol extract of M. oleifera seeds and propolis revealed the presence of 50 and 34 compounds, respectively. Conclusions: M. oleifera seeds and propolis methanol extracts have modulated the course of acetic acid-induced ulcerative colitis. Moreover, both treatments induce a good synergistic effect against the disease. Isolation of the active constituents is recommended.

Men’s Perception of Domestic Violence, Rural Minia, Egypt

Background: Domestic violence is an important prevalent, yet hidden and ignored health concern with significant impact on women’s health and wellbeing. This research was guided by the belief that men could play a role in preventing domestic violence as the majority of domestic violence is perpetrated by men. Aim: To assess attitudes of men towards domestic violence and factors affecting violence supportive attitude. Methods: A cross-sectional community-based study conducted in a rural area, Minia District, 2015. A systematic random sample was used. An interview-administered questionnaire was used including questions related to violence supportive environments, and opinion of men of causes and existence of domestic violence within families. Gender equity score (GES) was applied. Results: A total of 440 males participated. 57.3% of the participants reported that domestic violence was sometimes justified and needed in certain cases, and nearly two third (69%) of them practiced violence against their wives mostly in the form of physical one (64%). Small proportion of males reported high support for gender equity (7%). The study identified reasons for domestic violence, as perceived by men: The commonest was marital disputes (48.9%), followed by financial problems (36.4%) and social and economic disparity between the spouses (12.7%). Regarding the effect of violence on families, 30.9% of males reported that it led to lack of proper education. Conclusion and Recommendations: There is a tendency to describe this community as abusive. There is a need for development of relevant and culturally sensitive domestic violence education/prevention program in rural Egypt.
