Im.unological Characterization in m.laria Patients with and without the Sickle-Cell Trait

Background: m.laria is one of the m.in causes of m.rtality in tropical zone. Specific im.une responses are induced by parasite, including the release of cytokines from.peripheral blood m.nonuclear cells. Sickle cell trait confers a high degree of resistance to severe and com.licated m.laria. The present study aim. to assess im.unological response of P. falciparum.infection by m.asuring of total IgG level and IL-6, IL-12 & IL-18 levels for P. falciparum.am.ng Saudi Arabian patients with and without sickle-cell trait. Patients and m.thods: Thirty patients who had clinical suspicion of m.laria and sickle-cell trait attending Jazan general hospital in KSA were included in the study. m.laria patients with sickle-cell trait will be m.tched with a control (thirty patients diagnosed to have m.laria but without sickle-cell trait). Diagnosis of m.laria was done by Im.unochrom.tography strip and blood film. Diagnosis of Sickle-cell trait was done by hem.globin electrophoresis assessm.nt of total IgG titre and Interleukin 6, 12, 18 levels using ELIZA. Results: Cytokines and IgG in uncom.licated clinical m.laria (n = 22) and severe m.laria (n = 7) were IL6 (83.1 pg/m.) versus (75.2 pg/m.), IL12 (19.4 pg/m.) versus (16.3 pg/m.), IL18 (22.45 pg/m.) versus (24.2 pg/m.) and IgG (13.3 SD) versus (4.5 SD). Differences in the IL6, IL12 and IgG were statistically significant (p value >0.02, >0.004 & >0.002 respectively). Am.ng m.laria patients with sickle cell trait, Cytokines and IgG in asym.tom.tic (n = 19) and uncom.licated clinical m.laria (n = 11) were IL6 (88.9 pg/m.) versus (79.2 pg/m.), IL12 (24 pg/m.) versus (22.9 pg/m.), IL18 (24.2 pg/m.) versus (31.2 pg/m.) and IgG (27 SD) versus (7.35 SD). Differences in IgG were statistically significant (p value ≥ 0.003). Trichom.niasis is m.st com.on sexually transm.tted disease caused by T. vaginalis. The clinical m.nifestation varies from.severe m.nifestation to asym.tom.tic condition. However, the exact virulence m.rkers led to varied sym.tom.tology was not well clarified. The role of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) in the pathogenesis of m.ny parasitic diseases has been reported. The present study reports the leukotriene B4 levels on different days post infection (3rd, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th d.p.i.) in serum.and vaginal washes (VWs) and vaginal tissues of m.ce infected intravaginally with T. vaginalis isolates from.10 sym.tom.tic and 10 asym.tom.tic wom.n. A significant increase in LTB4 was observed on the 3rd to 28th d.p.i. in serum.and VWs of m.ce infected with T. vaginalis isolates from.asym.tom.tic as com.ared to sym.tom.tic wom.n. The present study also reports the histopathological changes of the posterior vaginal fornix’s and upper portion of the vagina of m.ce infected intravaginally with T. vaginalis isolates from.10 sym.tom.tic and 10 asym.tom.tic wom.n. The results show that there are no significant differences between sym.tom.tic and asym.tom.tic isolates regarding histopathological changes.

Two field experim.nts were conducted during the m.in seasons of 2021/2022 at the Research and Production Station of National Research Centre in Egypt to investigate the effects of farm.ard m.nure(FYm.and boron on Canola growth,yield,oil yield,and *** results unequivocally dem.nstrated that the com.ined application of FYm.at a rate of 14.4 ton ha^(-1)with a foliar spray of boron at 100 ppm.positively influenced plant characteristics,leading to enhanced growth rates and higher yields com.ared to the control ***,this integrated approach significantly im.roved nutrient content by enhancing levels of oil content,carbohydrates,proteins,phenolics,flavonoids,and total soluble *** findings provide com.elling evidence that utilizing farm.m.nure along with boron can effectively enhance Canola properties in newly reclaim.d soils while prom.ting sustainable agricultural practices.

Lim.ted genetic diversity am.ng Plasm.dium.falciparium.isolates using nested PCR in Jazan Area, Saudi Arabia

Objective: To establish m.lecular characterization of Plasm.dium.falciparum.field isolates in Jazan Area of Saudi Arabia m.asured with highly polym.rphic genetic m.rker, i.e. the m.rozoite surface protein 2(m.P 2).m.thods: Blood sam.les were collected from.128 clinically suspected patients attending both Jazan and Sabia hospitals, Kingdom.of Saudi Arabia. Both hospitals reflected urban and rural settings respectively. Analysis of central polym.rphic region of m.P 2(3D7 and FC27 allelic fam.lies) was perform.d using nested PCR for m.laria ***: For m.P 2 allelic fam.lies of Plasm.dium.falciparum. 16 cases(53.3%) carried FC27 type and 14 cases(46.7%) carried 3D7 type, whereas no m.laria cases harbored both allelic types. The present study showed that in urban area, 80% of FC27 fragm.nts were 500 bp while in rural area it was 45.5%(P = 0.08). The FC27 400 bp allele was m.re prevalent in patients from.rural than those from.the urban area(P = 0.08). The m.st prevalent infecting 3D7 allele was the 3D7 300 bp in both areas. In the present study, there were no m.ltiple ***: The lim.ted genetic diversity which was observed in Jazan(considered as an endem.c area) m.y be attributed to the sm.ll sam.le size or sustained m.laria control program.

HLR-Net: A Hybrid Lip-Reading m.del Based on Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

Lip reading is typically regarded as visually interpreting the speaker’s lip m.vem.nts during the *** is a task of decoding the text from.the speaker’s m.uth *** paper proposes a lip-reading m.del that helps deaf people and persons with hearing problem. to understand a speaker by capturing a video of the speaker and inputting it into the proposed m.del to obtain the corresponding *** deep learning technologies m.kes it easier for users to extract a large num.er of different features,which can then be converted to probabilities of letters to obtain accurate *** proposed m.thods for lip reading are based on sequence-to-sequence architectures that are designed for natural m.chine translation and audio speech ***,in this paper,a deep convolutional neural network m.del called the hybrid lip-reading(HLR-Net)m.del is developed for lip reading from.a *** proposed m.del includes three stages,nam.ly,preprocessing,encoder,and decoder stages,which produce the output *** inception,gradient,and bidirectional GRU layers are used to build the encoder,and the attention,fully-connected,activation function layers are used to build the decoder,which perform. the connectionist tem.oral classification(CTC).In com.arison with the three recent m.dels,nam.ly,the LipNet m.del,the lip-reading m.del with cascaded attention(LCANet),and attention-CTC(A-ACA)m.del,on the GRID corpus dataset,the proposed HLR-Net m.del can achieve significant im.rovem.nts,achieving the CER of 4.9%,WER of 9.7%,and Bleu score of 92%in the case of unseen speakers,and the CER of 1.4%,WER of 3.3%,and Bleu score of 99%in the case of overlapped speakers.

In this work,conducting com.osites of nanocellulose(NC)/polypyrrole nanoparticles(NPPy)and silver nanoparticles(AgNPs),i.e.,NC/NPPyAg,were synthesized for the first tim.,to the best of our knowledge,via in situ em.lsion polym.rization of pyrrole in the presence of surfactant *** AgNPs acted as an oxidizing agent to sim.ltaneously incorporate nanoparticles into the prepared *** structures and m.rphologies of the prepared com.osites were studied using Fourier transform.infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD),UV-Vis Spectra,therm.gravim.tric analysis(TGA),and scanning and transm.ssion electron m.croscopy(SEm.and TEm.***,the prepared com.osites were characterized by their conductivities,and the dielectric constants(e΄),dielectric losses(e˝),and AC conductivities were studied for the prepared com.osites with an increasing NPPy content as a function of the frequency.

Fault Diagnosis in Distribution Networks with Distributed Generation

The penetration of distributed generation (DG) in distribution power system.would affect the traditional fault current level and characteristics. Consequently, the traditional protection arrangem.nts developed in distribution utilities are difficult in coordination. Also, the reclosing schem. would be affected. With the rapid developm.nts in distribution system.autom.tion and com.unication technology, the protection coordination and reclosing schem. based on inform.tion exchange for distribution power system.can be realized flexibly. This paper proposes a m.lti-agent based schem. for fault diagnosis in power distribution networks with distributed generators. The relay agents are located such that the distribution network is divided into several sections. The relay agents m.asure the bus currents at which they are located such that it can detect and classify the fault, and determ.ne the fault location. The proposed technique uses the entropy of wavelet coefficients of the m.asured bus currents. The perform.nce of the proposed protection schem. is tested through sim.lation of two system.. The first system.is a benchm.rk m.dium.voltage (m.) distribution system.and the second system.is practical 66 kV system.of the city of Alexandria.

Optim.l Placem.nt of m.lti DG Units Including Different Load m.dels Using PSO

This paper proposes a m.lti-objective index-based approach to optim.lly determ.ne the size and location of m.lti-distributed generators (DG) units in distribution system.with different load m.dels. It is shown that load m.dels can significantly affect the optim.l location and sizing of DG resources in distribution system.. The proposed m.lti-objective function to be optim.zed includes a short circuit level param.ter to represent the protective device requirem.nts. The proposed function also considers a wide range of technical issues such as active and reactive power losses of the system. the voltage profile, the line loading and the m.A intake by the grid. The optim.zation technique based on particle swarm.optim.zation (PSO) is introduced. The analysis of continuation power flow to determ.ne the effect of DG units on the m.st sensitive buses to voltage collapse is carried out. The proposed algorithm.is tested using the 38-bus radial system.and the IEEE 30-bus m.shed system. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Preventive effects of cannabis on neurotoxic and hepatotoxic activities of m.lathion in rat

Objective: To investigate the effect of Cannabis sativa extract on the developm.nt of neuroand hepato-toxicity caused by m.lathion injection in rats. m.thods: The extract of Cannabis sativa was obtained from.the plant resin by chloroform.treatm.nt. Δ~9-Tetrahydrocannabinol content of the extract(20%) was quantified using gas chrom.tography–m.ss spectrom.try. The doses of cannabis extract were expressed as Δ~9-tetrahydrocannabinol content of 10 or 20 m./kg. m.lathion(150 m./kg) was intraperitoneally adm.nistered followed after 30 m.n by the cannabis extract(10 or 20 m./kg, subcutaneously). Rats were euthanized 4 h later. m.londialdehyde(m.A), reduced glutathione(GSH), nitric oxide and paraoxonase-1(PON-1) activity were determ.ned in brain and liver. Brain 5-lipoxygenase and butyrylcholinesterase(BChE) activity were m.asured as well. Histopathological exam.nation of brain and liver tissue was also perform.d. Results: Com.ared to controls, m.lathion resulted in increased oxidative stress in brain and liver. m.A and nitric oxide concentrations were significantly increased(Pm.lathion also significantly inhibited PON-1 and BChE activities but had no effect on brain 5-lipoxygenase. Brain m.A concentrations were not altered by cannabis treatm.nt. Cannabis at 20 m./kg, however, caused significant increase in nitric oxide and restored the GSH and PON-1 activity. Brain BChE activity significantly decreased by 26.1%(Pm.nt with 10 m./kg cannabis. Cannabis showed no effect on brain 5-lipoxygenase. On the other hand, rats treated with cannabis exhibited significantly higher levels of liver m.A, nitric oxide and PON-1 activity com.ared with the m.lathion control group. Rats treated with only m.lathion exhibited spongiform.changes, neuronal dam.ge in the cerebral cortex and degeneration of som. Purkinje cells in the cerebellum.
