Creatine supplementation in exercised rats: Effects on the aerobic capacity

This study aimed to analyze the possible metabolic disturbances caused by creatine supplementation on aerobic capacity of rats, inferred by the maximal lactate steady state. Forty male Wistar rats (90 days old) were distributed into two groups for eight weeks: trained group (T): rats that were submitted to a training protocol, and supplemented-trained group (TCr): rats that were submitted to a training protocol and received balanced diet supplemented with 2% creatine. The blood lactate concentrations equivalent to maximal lactate steady state during treadmill running were analyzed at the beginning and also at the end of the experiment. At the end of the experiment were done comparing the test results MLSS between the two groups. At the beginning of the experiment, prior to groups division, the majority of animals obtained MLSS at a speed of26 m/min, blood lactate concentration of 3.79 ± 0.76 mmol/L. At the end of the experiment, most of trained rats in T presented MLSS at the speed of28 m/min, blood lactate concentration of 3.37 ± 0.68 mmol/L. Most TCr had MLSS at the speed of28 m/min, blood lactate concentration of 3.52 ± 0.69 mmol/L. We conclude that creatine supplementation was not the cause of the improvement in the aerobic capacity of rats in the tread-mill exercise.

This study carried out comprehensive analysis on sedimentology, magnetic susceptibility （7of） and color data of the continental sediments of the Liupanshan Group in Central China so as to obtain climatic change information during the 129.14-122.98 Ma interval. Based on the results of the Xlf and of the redness （a＊）, the section can be divided into two segments：（1） 129.14-126.3 Ma, with the lowest Xlf values and strongly variable relatively high values of redness and （2） 126.3-122.98 Ma, with high Elf values and relatively low redness. Analysis of the lithology and facies as well as the magnetic minerals and their contents points to a detrital origin of the magnetic minerals and this allow us to interpret the relationship between magnetic susceptibility variations and climate changes. Our study shows that the climate was significantly dry and hot during the whole studied interval although the interval between 126.3 Ma and 122.98 was a little bit cooler with increased humidity.

The present study reports bioactive constituents from biquinho pepper,such as carotenoids,capsaicinoids,and capsinoids,identified by *** pepper extract showed an antioxidant potential by DPPH(33.17±0.08%),ORAC(32.35±0.02μM TE/g),β-carotene/linoleic acid(55.80±1.30%),and FRAP(315.88±4.23μmol TE/g)***,in vivo antioxidant analyses demonstrated that the pepper extract(170μg/mL)decreased the damage promoted by H_(2)O_(2) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae *** balls were prepared using different concentrations of pepper(0.0%,0.5%,0.75%,1.0%)to investigate its antioxidant effect during frozen *** pepper effectively reduced the formation of cholesterol oxides and preserved essential fatty acids,mainly in samples containing 1.0%of ***,this treatment was more efficient than sodium erythorbate(pdation was also determined,showing that both cholesterol degradation and cholesterol oxides formation fit a first-order kinetic model(R^(2)>0.8).

Removing harvest residues from hardwood stands affects tree growth, wood density and stem wood nutrient concentration in European beech (Fagus sylvatica) and oak (Quercus spp.)

Background:Higher exportation of harvest residues from forests due to increased demand for woody biomass,has reportedly diminished soil mineral resources and may lead to degraded tree nutrition as well as ***,as nutrients become less available in the soil,the remobilization of nutrients in biomass tissues(plant internal cycling)helps sustain tree *** study aims to quantify the impact of Removing Harvest Residues and Litter(RHRL)during five years on tree growth,wood density,and stem wood nutrient concentrations in young beech and oak forest ***:Our study found that,RHRL significantly decreased tree growth ring width by 14%,and wood density by 3%,in beech trees,in near bark *** also significantly reduced nutrient concentration in near bark and near pith areas of both studied ***,Na and S were found lower by 44%,76%,and 56%,respectively,in near bark area of beech *** near bark area of oak trees,K,Ca,Mg,Na,S,and Fe were lower by 20%,25%,41%,48%,41%,and 16%,respectively.K and Mg concentrations decreased more strongly in near pith area compared to near bark area suggesting internal translocation of these two ***:In beech trees,wood density proved to be an important factor while quantifying the effect of removing harvest residuals on tree growth and *** nutrient loss intensified the remobilization of nutrients con-tained in older tree rings(close to the pith)towards newly formed rings(close to bark).In our study,in beech trees,K was found to be the most recycled major *** results demonstrate the potential of such analysis for providing valuable insight into the effect of RHRL in premature stands on the physiological adaptive strategies of trees and an indication of soil fertility status.

Polylactide (PLA) is an emerging material mainly because it can be synthesized from renewable resources and is thus environmentally and ecologically safe. In this study, composites of PLA and talc were prepared by melt-blending technique, using a twin screw extruder. The influence of talc content on the rheological properties of pure PLA and its composites were evaluated. Dynamic rheological tests show that the incorporation of talc particles into PLA decreased system viscosity due to the filler"s lubricant effect. However, as talc content increased, system"s viscosity tended also to increase and materials with higher elastic behavior were produced, further with a higher plastic behavior in relation to pure PLA. This behavior can be observed by SEM micrographs.

Background: To investigate the effects of the association of semi-ablative fractional radiofrequency (RFF) with growth factors in stretch marks. Methods: This is a randomized controlled trial. The sample consisted of 28 female patients with complaints of gluteus or abdomen striae and divided into 2 equitable groups, named G1 (semi-ablative RFF without active principle association) and G2 (semi-ablative RFF with active principle association), being subdivided into G-1A and G-2A (abdominal applications) and G-1B and G-2B (gluteus applications). A photographic and histological analysis was performed using questionnaires about inflammation, presence of adverse effects and satisfaction of volunteers. Photographic analysis showed a reduction in the amount of striae alba in all groups. Results: The histological analysis showed an increase in fibroblast activity, collagen type I, and blood vessels, especially in the groups that associated the RFF with the active principle. In the inflammation analysis, the groups that performed intervention with active ingredients showed lower inflammatory signal. All groups had a reasonable level of satisfaction after the interventions;however, the group that used active ingredients reported greater results. Conclusion: The association of semi ablative RFF with growth factors showed a reduction in clinical inflammatory signs, mainly in the first 15 days, as well as higher collagen production, verified in 30 days, with satisfactory clinical results in all groups.

The FAIR principles have been widely cited,endorsed and adopted by a broad range of stakeholders since their publication in *** intention,the 15 FAIR guiding principles do not dictate specific technological implementations,but provide guidance for improving Findability,Accessibility,Interoperability and Reusability of digital *** has likely contributed to the broad adoption of the FAIR principles,because individual stakeholder communities can implement their own FAIR ***,it has also resulted in inconsistent interpretations that carry the risk of leading to incompatible ***,while the FAIR principles are formulated on a high level and may be interpreted and implemented in different ways,for true interoperability we need to support convergence in implementation choices that are widely accessible and(re)-*** introduce the concept of FAIR implementation considerations to assist accelerated global participation and convergence towards accessible,robust,widespread and consistent FAIR *** self-identified stakeholder community may either choose to reuse solutions from existing implementations,or when they spot a gap,accept the challenge to create the needed solution,which,ideally,can be used again by other communities in the ***,we provide interpretations and implementation considerations(choices and challenges)for each FAIR principle.

Maternal and Child Care Assessment Focused on Prenatal Care and Birth

Objective: This study aims at assessing maternal and child care provided from prenatal to birth, so that it can reveal the weaknesses and potentialities of prenatal program in order to guide the development of strategic plans. Methods: This is an exploratory descriptive study with a quantitative approach, conducted in the city of Santa Cruz, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, from November 2012 to February 2013. The sample consisted of 200 women, chosen by draw, mothers of children under two years old who had attended the Primary Health Care System. The study used a semi-structured questionnaire used by the Ministry of Health. Our research project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, under the approval No. 311.613. Results: It was found that most mothers were rated from good to very good in the quality of care during prenatal and birth. As to the performance of prenatal and birth care services, most women performed those services under the municipality’s Public Health System, and the prenatal care primarily under Basic Health Care Units. Conclusion: In this assessment study, indicators regarding maternal and child care provided during the prenatal period were found to be positive, which contributes to the reduction of maternal and child mortality. The study also shows that Primary Health Care is essential to ensuring an effective, humane and comprehensive health care.

Senior Citizens’Cultural Activity and Participation in Community Life

Objective: This study has the objective to know the cultural activities of the senior citizen and their participation in community life as encouraged by Primary Health Care professionals. Methods: This is a quantitative study that was performed on 130 senior citizens in the city of Santa Cruz, in the Brazil state of Rio Grande do Norte. Results: The participation of senior citizens in groups is very beneficial because it increases their autonomy and self-esteem, socialization, well-being and consequently, which leads to a higher quality of life. However, there were some failures in the promotion of healthy aging and the adoption of strategic activities. Conclusions: Based on this observation, it is expected that this study can provide resources for the primary health care professionals to try to stimulate senior citizens by carrying out cultural activities that value and increase their potential, quality of life and self-esteem and, thus, promote active and healthy aging.
