Silica.e gla.ses a.d gla.s cera.ics in the system CeO2-PbO-SiO2 ha.e been studied a. a.function of the structure fa.tors R a.d K. The la.ter two fa.tors a.e defined a.: R = (CeO2 + PbO)/SiO2 a.d K = (SiO2/CeO2) mola. ra.ios. In this gla.s, PbO is fixed a. 50 mol% a.d CeO2 increa.es a. the expense of SiO2. NMR investiga.ions ha.e revea.ed tha. increa.ing R which is a.compa.ied with decrea.ing K lea.s to rea.ona.le decrea.e in the shielding of silicon a.oms. The chemica. shift (δ) showed a. increa.ing beha.ior due to increa.ing non-bridging oxygen a.oms (NBO) in silica.e network. It is evidenced tha. NBO in cerium free gla.s is much lower tha. tha. of gla.ses conta.ning CeO2. Increa.ing R is clea.ly lea.ing to higher chemica. shift a.d higher NBO. This reflects tha. CeO2 ha. a. effective structura. role, since it would be consumed in a.l ca.es a. a. intermedia.e oxide. The ma.n portions from CeO2 a.d PbO inter a. gla.s modifiers which a.e consumed to form NBO a.oms. a.limited portion of CeO2 a.ts a. gla.s former which consumed to form tetra.edra. cerium conta.ning NBO due to modifica.ion by PbO a. a.modifier oxide. Increa.ing R = [(CeO2 + PbO)/SiO2] from 1 to 2.34 lea.s to a.frequent increa.e of NBO in the a.era.e gla.s network. FTIR spectroscopy of the gla.ses showed a.clea. shift of the ma.n a.sorba.ce pea. towa.d the low wa.enumber with increa.ing R which confirms the increa.ing silica.e units conta.ning NBO a.oms. XRD of the investiga.ed ma.eria.s revea.ed the presence of some na.ostructures from cerium silica.e crysta.line pha.es. Forma.ion of sepa.a.ed pha.es conta.ning micro clusters is found to depend on NBO concentra.ion, since NBO ca. fa.ilita.e process of pha.e sepa.a.ion. Ma.ority of modifier a.e consumed to form NBO in the gla.s network a.d the rest a.e a.grega.ed or sepa.a.ed to form silica.e pha.e riches with cerium ca.ions. In such ca.e, some of silicon a.oms a.e electrica.ly compensa.ed with both Pb a.d Ce ca.ions.

Rhodotorula.glutinis va.. glutinis. The selected isola.e wa. grown in synthetic medium to study the effect of ca.bon to nitrogen ra.io, sources of nitrogen a.d ca.bon, minera. sa.ts a.d incuba.ion tempera.ure on ca.otenoids production. The results indica.ed the following optima. conditions: ca.bon to nitrogen ra.io of 5, a.monium sulpha.e a. nitrogen source, sucrose a. ca.bon source, presence of zinc sulpha.e in the medium a.d cultiva.ion tempera.ure of 25?C. The studied fa.tors a.fected the dry bioma.s a. well a. the proportion of ca.otenoids a.d consequently the colour of pellets of the yea.t. The yea.t stra.n wa. grown under the optima. conditions to study the cha.ges occurring in the medium a.d the pellets during ca.otenoids production for 6 da.s. Ca.otenoids production sta.ted a.ter the first da. of incuba.ion a.d most of the ca.otenoids content in the yea.t cells wa. produced during sta.iona.y pha.e. The highest cellula. (861 μg?g–1) a.d volumetric (1.9 mg?L–1) ca.otenoids content were ob- ta.ned a.ter 5 da.s of growth.
