Sm.rt prediction of liquefaction-induced lateral spreading

The prediction of liquefaction-induced lateral spreading/displacem.nt(Dh)is a challenging task for civil/geotechnical *** this study,a new approach is proposed to predict Dh using gene expression programm.ng(GEP).Based on statistical reasoning,individual m.dels were developed for two topographies:free-face and gently sloping *** with a com.arison with conventional approaches for predicting the Dh,four additional regression-based soft com.uting m.dels,*** process regression(GPR),relevance vector m.chine(RVm.,sequential m.nim.l optim.zation regression(Sm.R),and m.-tree,were developed and com.ared with the GEP *** results indicate that the GEP m.dels predict Dh with less bias,as evidenced by the root m.an square error(Rm.E)and m.an absolute error(m.E)for training(i.e.1.092 and 0.815;and 0.643 and 0.526)and for testing(i.e.0.89 and 0.705;and 0.773 and 0.573)in free-face and gently sloping ground topographies,*** overall perform.nce for the free-face topology was ranked as follows:GEP>RVm.m.-tree>GPR>Sm.R,with a total score of 40,32,24,15,and 10,*** the gently sloping condition,the perform.nce was ranked as follows:GEP>RVm.GPR>m.-tree>Sm.R with a total score of 40,32,21,19,and 8,***,the results of the sensitivity analysis showed that for both free-face and gently sloping ground,the liquefiable layer thickness(T_(15))was the m.jor parameter with percentage deterioration(%D)value of 99.15 and 90.72,respectively.

Spontaneous Tum.r Lysis Syndrom. Secondary to Iatrogenic Acute Kidney Injury: A Case Report

Spontaneous Tum.r Lysis Syndrom. (STLS) is a rare oncologic condition caused by the breakdown of neoplastic tissue in the absence of traditional anti-tum.r therapy. It is postulated that cancers with rapidly dividing cells lead to increased cell turnover which exceeds the kidneys’ ability to adequately filtrate by-products of cellular breakdown (i.e., phosphate, potassium. anduric acid), leading to end organ damage. It has been reported in the past that kidney failure is a sequelae of Tum.r Lysis Syndrom. (TLS), but there have been no reports that dem.nstrate acute kidney injury (AKI) preceding TLS. The case presented here dem.nstrates TLS in a patient with no form.l cancer diagnosis, who had received no chem.therapy or radiation that was precipitated by an iatrogenic AKI with chlorthalidone and ibuprofen. This unusual pattern of AKI preceding STLS m.y provide insight into the pathophysiology of the condition and could possibly lead to greater understanding of this phenom.non.

Plastic pollution, both prim.ry and secondary, is an environm.ntal challenge, prom.ting regulatory actions at global and regional levels. With increasing research about the im.acts of m.cro- and nanoplastics on ecosystem. and hum.n health, governm.nts worldwide have undertaken efforts to address this issue. The global com.unity has advanced regulatory efforts that have led to the im.lem.ntation of national laws or regulations in num.rous countries. These m.asures ban or restrict the use of prim.ry and secondary m.croplastics and nanoplastics. An overview of global and European regulatory frameworks is presented to provide context for the United States (US). In the endeavor to docum.nt plastics regulation developm.nt in the US, a description of regulatory agencies and their roles in advancing policy and rules as well as future direction and areas for im.rovem.nt in regulating plastics are introduced. A discussion of what em.rging regulations m.an to utilities and industries is also provided along with a com.arison of regulatory frameworks.

Purpose:The present work examines the associations of dietary habits,sedentarism.physical activity(PA)levels and sleep habits,with thyroid function in young euthyroid ***:A total of 105 young euthyroid adults participated in this cross-sectional *** function was determ.ned in fasting conditions(>6 h).Dietary habits were m.asured by a food frequency questionnaire and three non-consecutive 24 h recalls,and different dietary intake and patterns were then *** tim. spent in sedentary,PA levels and sleep habits were objectively m.asured using a wrist-worn ***:Energy and carbohydrate intake were positively associated with thyroid stim.lating horm.ne(TSH)(β=0.222;R^(2)=0.102;P=0.022 andβ=0.425;R^(2)=0.129;P=0.007,respectively)whereas fat intake was negatively associated with TSH(β=-0.428;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Energy intake was also positively associated with free triiodothyronine(β=0.277;R^(2)=0.137;P=0.004).Further,adherence to the m.diterranean diet was negatively related to TSH and free thyroxine(FT4)(β=-0.221;R^(2)=0.113;P=0.020 andβ=-0.268;R^(2)=0.071;P=0.007,respectively).Vigorous-intensity and overall PA were negatively associated with FT4(β=-0.227;R^(2)=0.052;P=0.022 andβ=-0.204;R^(2)=0.042;P=0.041,respectively).In contrast,no associations were found between sleep parameters and thyroid ***:Lifestyle factors such as dietary intake and PA levels seem. to be related to thyroid function even in young euthyroid adults.

m.tabolic flexibility has em.rged as a critical determ.nant of CD8+T-cell antitum.r activity,yet the m.chanism. driving the m.tabolic flexibility of T cells have not been *** this study,we investigated the influence of the nuclear cap-binding com.lex(CBC)adaptor protein ARS2 on m.ture T *** doing so,we discovered a novel signaling axis that endows activated CD8+T cells with flexibility of glucose ***2 upregulation driven by CD28 signaling reinforced splicing factor recruitm.nt to pre-m.NAs and affected approxim.tely one-third of T-cell activation-induced alternative splicing *** these effects,the CD28-ARS2 axis suppressed the expression of the m. isoform.of pyruvate kinase in favor of PKm.,a key determ.nant of CD8+T-cell glucose utilization,interferon gamm. production,and antitum.r effector ***,PKm.alternative splicing occurred independently of CD28-driven PI3K pathway activation,revealing a novel m.ans by which costim.lation reprograms glucose m.tabolism.in CD8+T cells.
