End stage-renal-disease (ESRD) is associated with dyslipidem.a and prem.ture atherosclerosis. The study evaluates the effect of hem.dialysis (HD) on HDL-rem.deling between pre- and post-HD. Was conducted a cross-sectional study with 50 ESRD m.le patients, undergoing HD at Ana Neri Hospital, Salvador, Brazil. All individuals were on HD for at least 3 m.nths, into a three sessions protocol for 3 - 4 hours per week, with a polysulfone low-flow basic-dialyzing-m.m.rane and unfractionated-heparin. HDL Phospholipid-incorporation was m.asured by 14C-PL-scintillation-counting, expressed as %14C-PL/m./hour. Paraoxonase (PON-1) activity was m.asured by spectrophotom.try using paraoxon as substrate. Cardiovascular risk ratios and atherogenic index of plasm. were calculated. Total cholesterol, HDL-C and non-HDL-C increased at post-HD on all age groups, but without triglycerides (TG) changes. TG/HDL-C decreased in 30 - 39 and 40 - 49 year (y) at post-HD (p 0.05). LDL-C/apoB increased in >60 y, after HD (p 60 (p 0.01). On the other hand, non-HDL-C/HDL-C reduced in 40 - 49 and >60 y, at post-HD (p 0.05). The linear-correlation between %14C-PL-incorporation and non-HDL-C/HDL-C was negative in 30 - 39 y, both at pre-HD (r = -0.90;p = 0.002) and post-HD (r = -0.78;p = 0.022). Linear-correlation between PON-1 and %14C-PL-incorporation was positive in >60 y, both at pre- (r = 0.63;p = 0.029) and post-HD (r = 0.65;p = 0.022). PON-1 activity increased at pre- (59 ± 30) and post-HD (73 ± 38) in 50 - 59 y (p 0.05). The %14C-PL-incorporation was reduced in >60 y (p 0.05), when com.ared to pre- and post-HD. ESRD patients undergoing HD shows im.ortant changes on lipid-profile, PON-1-activity, cardiac risk ratios and HDL-rem.deling. These results dem.nstrate the influence of HD with a polysulfone low-flow basic-dialyzing-m.m.rane and unfractionated-heparin on lipoprotein m.tabolism.

Background:Hem.dialysis(HD) per se is a risk factor for *** the growing body of evidence on blood-flow restriction(BFR) exercise in HD patients,identification of possible risk factors related to the prothrom.otic agent D-dim.r is required for the safety and feasibility of this training *** aim.of the present study was to identify risk factors associated with higher D-dim.r levels and to determ.ne the acute effect of resistance exercise(RE) with BFR on this ***:Two hundred and six HD patients volunteered for this study(all with a glom.rular filtration rate of m./m.n/1.73 m.).The RE+BFR session consisted of 50% arterial occlusion pressure during 50 m.n sessions of HD(intradialytic exercise).RE repetitions included concentric and eccentric lifting phases(each lasting 2 s) and were supervised by a strength and conditioning ***:Several variables were associated with elevated levels of D-dim.r,including higher blood glucose,citrate use,recent cardiovascular events,recent intercurrents,higher inflam.atory status,catheter as vascular access,older patients(>70 years old),and HD ***,RE+BFR significantly increases D-dim.r after 4 *** with borderline baseline D-dim.r levels(400-490 ng/m.) displayed increased risk of elevating D-dim.r over the norm.l range(≥500 ng/m.).Conclusion:These results identified factors associated with a heightened prothrom.otic state and m.y assist in the screening process for HD patients who wish to undergo RE+BFR.D-dim.r and/or other fibrinolysis factors should be assessed at baseline and throughout the protocol as a precautionary m.asure to m.xim.ze safety during RE+BFR.

The increasing need to m.nage natural resources sustainably, driven by population growth, requires the sim.ltaneous use of Participatory Techniques (PT) and landscape planning for structured decision-m.king. We conducted a bibliom.tric and system.tic review to provide an overview of PT usage, identifying evolution in scientific production. We considered the num.er of publications and citations, prom.nent journals, and highly cited articles on scientific papers published in the Web of Science database between 1993 and 2023. A total of 415 articles related to PT were identified. After content evaluation, 19 critical articles were selected that underpin the growing com.ined use of m.dels and indices with PT, enhancing the robustness and credibility of decision-m.king processes.

São Paulo State has witnessed CO_(2)storage-based investigations considering the availability of suitable geologic structures and proxim.ty to prim.ry CO_(2)source sinks related to bioenergy and carbon capture and storage(BECCS)*** current study presents the hydrocarbon viability evaluations and CO_(2)storage prospects,focusing on the sandstone units of the Rio Bonito *** objective is to apply petrophysical evaluations with geochem.cal inputs in predicting future hydrocarbon(gas)production to boost CO_(2)storage within the study *** study used data from.eleven wells with associated wireline logs(gam.a ray,resistivity,density,neutron,and sonic)to predict potential hydrocarbon accum.lation and fluid m.bility in the investigated *** sam.les(shale and carbonate)obtained from.depths>200 m.within the study location have shown bitum.n *** geochem.stry data of the Rio Bonito Form.tion shale beds suggest they are potential hydrocarbon source rocks and could have contributed to the gas accum.lations within the sandstone *** drilled well data,e.g.,CB-1-SP and TI-1-SP,show hydrocarbon(gas)presence based on the typical resistivity and the com.ined neutron-density responses at depths up to 3400 m.indicating the possibility of other hydrocarbon m.m.ers apart from.the heavy oil(bitum.n)observed from.the near-surface rocks *** the three-dim.nsional(3-D)m.del,the free fluid indicator(FFI)is m.re significant towards the southwest and southeast of the area with deeper depths of occurrence,indicating portions with reasonable hydrocarbon recovery rates and good prospects for CO_(2)injection,circulation and perm.nent ***,future studies based on contem.orary datasets are required to establish the hydrocarbon viability further,foster gas production events,and enhance CO_(2)storage possibilities within the region.

Despite its enorm.us benefits,m.ning is respon-sible for intense changes to vegetation and soil ***,after extraction,it is necessary to rehabilitate the m.ned areas,creating better conditions for the establishm.nt of plant species which is *** study evaluated m.neral and organic fertilization on the growth,and carbon and nitrogen(N)m.tabolism.of two Crotalaria species[Cro-talaria spectabilis(exotic species)and Crotalaria m.ypu-rensis(native species from.Carajás m.neral Province(Cm.)]established on a waste pile from.an iron m.ne in Cm..A control(without fertilizer application)and six fertilization m.xtures were tested(i=NPK;ii=NPK+m.cronutrients;iii=NPK+m.cronutrients+organic com.ost;iv=PK;v=PK+m.cronutrients;vi=PK+m.cronutrients+organic com.ost).Fertilization contributed to increased growth of both species,and treatm.nts with NPK and m.cronutrients had the best results(up to 257%***),while organic fertilization did not show *** Crotalaria had a greater num.er of nodules,higher nodule dry m.ss,chlorophyll a and b contents and showed free am.onium.as the predom.nant N form.reflecting greater increm.nts in biom.ss com.ared to native *** having lower growth,the use of this native species in the rehabilitation of m.ning areas should be considered,m.inly because it has good developm.nt and m.ets current governm.nt legislation as an opportunity to restore local biodiversity.
