Despite its enormous benefits,mining is respon-sible for intense changes to vegetation and soil ***,after extraction,it is necessary to rehabilitate the mined areas,creating better conditions for the establishment of plant species which is *** study evaluated mineral and organic fertilization on the growth,and carbon and nitrogen(N)metabolism of two Crotalaria species[Cro-talaria spectabilis(exotic species)and Crotalaria maypu-rensis(native species from Carajás Mineral province(CMp)]established on a waste pile from an iron mine in CMp.A control(without fertilizer application)and six fertilization mixtures were tested(i=NpK;ii=NpK+micronutrients;iii=NpK+micronutrients+organic compost;iv=pK;v=pK+micronutrients;vi=pK+micronutrients+organic compost).Fertilization contributed to increased growth of both species,and treatments with NpK and micronutrients had the best results(up to 257%***),while organic fertilization did not show *** Crotalaria had a greater number of nodules,higher nodule dry mass,chlorophyll a and b contents and showed free ammonium as the predominant N form,reflecting greater increments in biomass compared to native *** having lower growth,the use of this native species in the rehabilitation of mining areas should be considered,mainly because it has good development and meets current government legislation as an opportunity to restore local biodiversity.

The present study focused on evaluating the agronomic performance, stability, and anthracnose resistance of common bean lines derived through Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in Uganda. Eight marker-assisted selection (MAs) backcross-derived bush bean lines with red seed types, alongside two checks, were evaluated in a randomized complete block design replicated two times in five locations for three consecutive crop-growing seasons in 2021 and 2022. The study aimed to identify lines with both high stable yields and enhanced resistance to anthracnose disease for potential release and utilization in future bean varietal development in Uganda. Agronomic traits, including days to 50% flowering, days to 90% physiological maturity, seed yield, seed yield components, and anthracnose disease reaction under natural infestation were assessed. The response to anthracnose disease was further assessed using six isolates of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum representing six different races. Results indicated that the agronomic performances of the MAs backcross-derived bush bean lines were statistically comparable to the recurrent parent NABE14. specifically, six lines exhibited statistically equal to or higher performance than NABE14 in terms of seed yield, total number of seeds and number of pods per plant. The combined analysis of variance for seed yield showed significant (p Co-4sup>2sup> and Co-5 anthracnose resistance genes in the derived line. In conclusion, UGKT-B157-4, identified as the best-performing and stable genotype, demonstrates promise for release and use in future bean varietal development in Uganda, offering a combination of high yields and enhanced anthracnose disease resistance. The study provides valuable insights into the potential of Marker-Assisted Backcrossing in improving common bean varieties in the region.

The N--N linkage in hydrazine is thermally stable when it is tetrasubstituted and there are electron-withdrawinggroups attached to the nitrogen atoms. Our research on the synthesis of polymers contaning N--N linkages is reviewed. TheN,N-bisimide structure has been introduced in the backbone of polymers as well as a pendant group in poly(aryl ether)s togive very thermoxidatively stable polymers with very high glass transition temperatures. Most of the polymers form tough,flexible films. N-Aminotriazoles also form stable imides by reaction with anhydrides and these N-imidotriazole groups havebeen introduced as pendent groups on poly(aryl ether)s. The polymers are highly fluorescent materials. Three methods for thesynthesis of polymers containing the tetrasubstituted-azine structure will be discussed: (1) oxidative coupling of bisimines;(2) condensation of bishydrazones with diketones; (3) poly(aryl ether azines) from the azine formed from 4-fluorobenzo-phenone by reaction with salts of bisphenols.

Hydrology,roadway traffic conditions,and atmospheric deposition are three essential data categories for the planning and implementation of highway-runoff monitoring and characterization *** variables pertaining to each data category could be site specific but have been shown to correlate with runoff pollutant *** data categories were combined to derive statistical relationships for characterization and prioritization of the respective pollutant loads at highway runoff *** runoff data of total suspended solids(Tss),total dissolved solid(TDs),chemical oxygen demand(COD),total Kjeldahl nitrogen(TKN)and total phosphorus(Tp)collected from three highway sites in Charlotte,North Carolina,UsA,were used to illustrate the development of site-specific highway-runoff pollutant loading *** unified methodology provides a basis for initial assessment of the pollutant-constituent loads from highway runoff using hydrologic component *** reliability is achievable when additional traffic and/or atmospheric component variables are incorporated into the basic hydrologic regression *** addition,operational guidance is suggested for implementing highway-runoff monitoring programs that are subject to sampling and resources constraints.

Testosterone levels are lower in men with metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus （T2DM） and also predict the onset of these adverse metabolic states. Body composition （body mass index, waist circumference） is an important mediator of this relationship. sex hormone binding globulin is also inversely associated with insulin resistance and T2DM but the data regarding estrogen are inconsistent. Clinical models of androgen deficiency including Klinefelter＇s syndrome and androgen deprivation therapy in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer confirm the association between androgens and glucose status. Experimental manipulation of the insulin/ glucose milieu and suppression of endogenous testicular function suggests the relationship between androgens and insulin sensitivity is bidirectional. Androgen therapy in men without diabetes is not able to differentiate the effect on insulin resistance from that on fat mass, in particular visceral adiposity. similarly, several small clinical studies have examined the efficacy of exogenous testosterone in men with T2DM, however, the role of androgens, independent of body composition, in modifying insulin resistance is uncertain.
