Association of COVID- 19 with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in children aged 0-5 years in the USA in 2022: a multicentre retrospective cohort study

Objective To investigate whether COVID-19 infection was associated with increased risk for incident respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)infections and associated diseases among young children that might have contributed to the 2022 surge of severe paediatric RSV cases in the *** This is a retrospective population-based cohort *** outcomes were examined,including overall RSV infection,positive lab test-confirmed RSV infection,clinically diagnosed RSV diseases,RSV-associated bronchiolitis and unspecified *** ratio(RR)and 95%CI of the outcomes that occurred during the 2022 and 2021 RSV seasons were calculated by comparing propensity-score matched *** Nationwide multicentre database of electronic health records(EHRs)of 61.4million patients in the USA including 1.7million children 0–5 years of age,which was accessed through TriNetX Analytics that provides web-based and secure access to patient EHR data from hospitals,primary care and specialty treatment *** The study population consisted of 228940 children of 0–5 years with no prior RSV infection who had medical encounters in October *** were replicated in a separate study population of 370919 children of 0–5 years with no prior RSV infection who had medical encounters in July 2021–August 2021 during a non-overlapping time *** For the 2022 study population(average age 2.4 years,46.8%girls,61%white,16%black),the risk for incident RSV infection during October 2022–December 2022 was 6.40%for children with prior COVID-19 infection,higher than 4.30%for the matched children without COVID-19(RR 1.40,95%CI 1.27 to 1.55);and among children aged 0–1year,the overall risk was 7.90%for those with prior COVID-19 infection,higher than 5.64%for matched children without(RR 1.40,95%CI 1.21 to 1.62).For the 2021 study population(average age 2.2 years,46%girls,57%white,20%black),the risk for incident RSV infection during July 2021–December 2021 was 4.85%for childre

The catalysis of the Hajos-Parrish reaction by cis-and trans-4,5-ethano-proline was explored experimentally and computationally with DFT(ωb97X-D and MN15)and DLPNO-CCSD(T).both of the new catalysts are as active as proline or cis-and trans-4,5-methano-proline,with the trans-ethano-proline being as enantioselective as proline.A thorough theoretical analysis of the electronic factors influencing catalysis is reported.

From 2000 to 2007, Chinese exports grew at a phenomenal pace. Our paper uses finely detailed Chinese export data （8-digit Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System codes） combined with US trade data to explore how this was achieved. Although general explanations such as China ~ exchange rate policy no doubt played a role, we find that sector-specific stories, effective Chinese industrial policy and fortuitous timing were more critical The detailed trade data reveal that ＂＇new ＂＇ technology goods, such as cell phones, LCD screens and laptops, played a key role. Finally, we use the data to examine the relationship between Chinese exports and global manufacturing, in particular US manufacturing employment. We find that competition from China in both domestic and foreign markets likely contributed to a significant decline in USA manufacturing employment, but that relatively low US investment and slow GDP growth in the US following the 2001 recession played an equally important role.

The IGC 50 (50% inhibitory growth concentration) values of 27 nitrobenzenes were determined for the population growth endpoint of Tetrahymena pyriformis . The toxicity order of the observed compounds was found to be as follows: dinitro compounds>mononitro compounds, dichloronitrobenzenes>monochloronitrobenzenes, meta substituted nitrobenzenes>ortho /para substituted nitrobenzenes(NT, NPh, NAnis) except for the dinitrobenzenes and nitroanilines(DNb, NAn). Quantitative structure activity relationships(QSARs) were developed with the logarithm of the reciprocal of IGC 50 [lg(IGC 50 ) -1 ] in mole liter as dependent variable and six molecular descriptors lg P , 1 X Ⅴ, I, 1K a, ∑σ - and E LUMO as independent variables. Via multiple regression analysis, one best equation was obtained: lg(IGC 50 ) -1 =3.029+0.860∑ σ -+0.341I n=27, r=0.924, r 2=0.854, s=0.265, f=70.44 , Pr> f =0.000 1  The equation was used to estimate IGC 50 for five analogues.

Despite their importance to conservation, reintroductions are still a risky endeavor and tend to fail, highlighting the need for more efficient post-release monitoring techniques. Reintroduced animals are released into unfamiliar novel environ ments and must explore their surroundings to gain knowledge in order to survive. According to theory, knowledge gain should be followed by subsequent changes to the animal＇s movement behavior, making movement behavior an excellent indicator of reintroduction progress. We aim to conceptually describe a logical process that will enable the inclusion of behavior （in particular, movement behavior） in management decision-making post-reintroductions, and to do so, we provide four basic components that a manager should look for in the behaviors of released animals. The suggested components are release-site fidelity, recurring locations, proximity to other individuals, and individual variation in movement behavior. These components are by no means the only possible ones available to a manager, but they provide an efficient tool to understanding animals＇ decision-making based on ecological theory; namely, the exploration-exploitation trade-off that released animals go through, and which underlies their behavior. We demonstrate our conceptual approach using data from two ungulate species reintroduced in Israel： the Persian fallow deer Dama mesopotamica and the Arabian oryx Oryx leucoryx [Current Zoology 60 （4）： 515-526, 2014] .
