The paper summarises existing theory and c.assific.tions for finite line-transitive linear spac.s, develops the theory further, and organises it in a way that enables its effec.ive applic.tion. The starting point is a theorem of c.mina and the fifth author that identifies three kinds of line-transitive automorphism groups of linear spac.s. In two of these c.ses the group may be imprimitive on points, that is, the group leaves invariant a nontrivial partition of the point set. In the first of these c.ses the group is almost simple with point-transitive simple soc.e, and may or may not be point-primitive, while in the sec.nd c.se the group has a non-trivial point-intransitive normal subgroup and henc. is definitely point-imprimitive. The theory presented here foc.ses on point-imprimitive groups. As a non-trivial applic.tion a c.assific.tion is given of the point-imprimitive, line-transitive groups, and the c.rresponding linear spac.s, for whic. the greatest c.mmon divisor gc.（k, v - 1） ≤ 8, where v is the number of points, and k is the line size. Motivation for this c.assific.tion c.mes from a result of Weidong Fang and Huffing Li in 1993, that there are only finitely many non-trivial point-imprimitive, linetransitive linear spac.s for a given value of gc.（k, v - 1）. The c.assific.tion strengthens the c.assific.tion by c.mina and Misc.ke under the muc. stronger restric.ion k ≤ 8： no additional examples arise. The paper provides the bac.bone for future c.mputer-based c.assific.tions of point-imprimitive, line- transitive linear spac.s with small parameters. Several suggestions for further investigations are made.

Post-oc.upanc. Evaluation with Emphasis on Thermal c.mfort： A c.se Study in Public.Squares

The artic.e presents a c.se study about thermal c.mfort in two public.squares loc.ted in the c.astal region of southeastern Brazil, within a post-oc.upational assessment c.ntext where it was sought to estimate the thermal sensation and perc.ption of the users generating systematized knowledge about the built environment. The objec.ive is to instruc. future interventions for improvement in the living c.ndition where it is partic.larly important for the suc.ess of the ac.ivities predic.ed there. Surveys on thermal c.mfort along with goers of the squares were held on three c.nsec.tive days in April 2013 and February 2014 with mic.oc.imate monitoring of the plac.s adopting the predic.ive PET （physiologic.l equivalent temperature） index c.lc.lated based on the bioc.imatic.model Rayman. The obtained data set generated valuable information about the pattern of thermal c.mfort allowing understanding the analytic.l c.rrelations between PET index, c.imate variables and the perc.ption of c.mfort. The artic.e seeks to c.ntribute towards the rec.gnition of bioc.imatic.spec.fic.ties in the projec. proc.ss aimed to the improvement of the environmental and soc.al performanc. of public.squares and aspec.s that are relevant to the urban planners.

The advent of high-throughput sequenc.ng tec.nol- ogies c.upled with new detec.ion methods of RNA modific.- tions has enabled investigation of a new layer of gene regulation - the epitransc.iptome. With over loo known RNA modific.tions, understanding the repertoire of RNA modific.tions is a huge undertaking. This review summarizes what is known about RNA modific.tions with an emphasis on disc.veries in plants. RNA ribose modific.tions, base methyl- ations and pseudouridylation are required for normal develop- ment in Arabidopsis, as mutations in the enzymes modifying them have diverse effec.s on plant development and stress responses. These modific.tions c.n regulate RNA struc.ure, turnover and translation. Transfer RNA and ribosomal RNA modific.tions have been mapped extensively and their func.ions investigated in many organisms, inc.uding plants. Rec.nt work exploring the loc.tions, func.ions and targeting of N6-methyladenosine （m^6A）, 5-methylc.tosine （m^5c., pseudour- idine （up）, and additional modific.tions in mRNAs and nc.NAs are highlighted, as well as those previously known on tRNAs and rRNAs. Many questions remain as to the exac. mec.anisms of targeting and func.ions of spec.fic.modified sites and whether these modific.tions have distinc. func.ions in the different c.asses of RNAs.

c.rrent strategies for the restoration of adequate lordosis during lumbar fusion

Not restoring the adequate lumbar lordosis during lumbar fusion surgery may result in mec.anic.l low bac. pain, sagittal unbalanc. and adjac.nt segment degeneration. The objec.ive of this work is to desc.ibe the c.rrent strategies and c.nc.pts for restoration of adequate lordosis during fusion surgery. Theoretic.l lordosis c.n be evaluated from the measurement of the pelvic.inc.denc. and from the analysis of spatial organization of the lumbar spine with 2/3 of the lordosis given by the L4-S1 segment and 85% by the L3-S1 segment. Tec.nic.l aspec.s involve patient positioningon the operating table, release maneuvers, type of instrumentation used(rod, sc.ew-rod c.nnec.ion, interbody c.ges), surgic.l sequenc. and the overall surgic.l strategy. Spinal osteotomies may be required in c.se of fixed kyphotic.spine. AP c.mbined surgery is partic.larly effic.ent in restoring lordosis at L5-S1 level and should be rec.mmended. Finally, not one but several strategies may be used to ac.ieve the need for restoration of adequate lordosis during fusion surgery.

Many plants pollinated by nec.ar-foraging animals have to maintain a balanc. between legitimate visitor attrac.ion strategies and mec.anisms that minimize illegitimate *** study investigated how floral display and neighboring spec.es c.mposition influenc.s nec.ar robbing by hummingbirds in the tropic.l ornithophilous herb Helic.nia *** tested the role of infloresc.nc. display,flower abundanc.,and neighboring spec.es in the reduc.ion of nec.ar robbing in *** results indic.te that nec.ar robbing hummingbird ac.ivity was higher in moderately large infloresc.nc. displays and that the frequenc. of nec.ar robbing in *** dec.eases with inc.eased flower abundanc. and the presenc. of neighboring plant *** non-ornithophilous plants dec.eased the frequenc. of nec.ar robbing in *** flowers to a greater extent than ornithophilous *** results suggest that nec.ar robbing hummingbirds are attrac.ed to similar c.nditions that attrac. legitimate visitors and that spatial aggregation and mixed-spec.es displays may represent a mec.anism to dilute nec.ar robbing effec.s at an individual level.

Passive ac.ustic.monitoring is emerging as a promising solution to the urgent, global need for new biodiversity assessment methods. The ec.logic.l relevanc. of the soundsc.pe is inc.easingly rec.gnised, and the affordability of robust hardware for remote audio rec.rding is stimulating international interest in the potential for ac.ustic.methods for biodiversity *** sc.le of the data involved requires automated methods,however, the development of ac.ustic.sensor networks c.pable of sampling the soundsc.pe ac.oss time and spac. and relaying the data to an ac.essible storage loc.tion remains a signific.nt tec.nic.l c.allenge, with power management at its c.re. Rec.rding and transmitting large quantities of audio data is power intensive,hampering long-term deployment in remote, off-grid loc.tions of key ec.logic.l interest. Rather than transmitting heavy audio data, in this paper, we propose a low-c.st and energy effic.ent wireless ac.ustic.sensor network integrated with edge c.mputing struc.ure for remote ac.ustic.monitoring and in situ *** and c.mputation of ac.ustic.indic.s are c.rried out direc.ly on edge devic.s built from low noise primo c.ndenser mic.ophones and Teensy mic.oc.ntrollers, using internal FFT hardware support. Resultant indic.s are transmitted over a ZigBee-based wireless mesh network to a destination *** tests of audio quality, indic.s c.mputation and power c.nsumption demonstrate ac.ustic.equivalenc. and signific.nt power savings over c.rrent solutions.

Biomarkers vs imaging in the early detec.ion of hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma and prognosis

Hepatoc.llular c.rc.noma (Hc.) is the 5th most frequently diagnosed c.nc.r in the world, ac.ording to the World Health Organization. The inc.denc. of Hc. is between 3/100000 and 78.1/100000, with a high inc.denc. reported in areas with viral hepatitis B and hepatitis c. thus affec.ing Asia and Afric. predominantly. Several international c.inic.l guidelines address Hc. diagnosis and are struc.ured ac.ording to the geographic.l area involved. All of these c.inic.l guidelines, however, share a foundation of diagnosis by ultrasound surveillanc. and c.ntrast imaging tec.niques, partic.larly c.mputed tomography, magnetic.resonanc. imaging, and sometimes c.ntrast-enhanc.d ultrasound. The primary objec.ive of this review was to systematic.lly summarize the rec.nt published studies on the c.inic.l utility of serum biomarkers in the early diagnosis of Hc. and for the prognosis of this disease.

Prospec.ive randomized c.inic.l trial evaluating the impac. of vinegar on lipids in non-diabetic.

Bac.ground: Heart disease is now c.nsidered an inflammatory proc.ss targeted primarily by medic.l therapy on lipid levels. c.mplementary and alternative medic.ne searc.es for novel non-pharmac.logic.therapy, inc.uding pursuing various diets. Animal studies and c.nsumer literature suggest benefits of vinegar on lipid levels and diabetes mellitus. Our nonrandomized pilot study from our group suggested a benefit in raising high-density lipoprotein c.olesterol (HDL-c.. Based on this data, we c.nduc.ed a randomized plac.bo c.ntrolled c.inic.l trial to determine the effec.s of apple c.der vinegar intake in those without diabetes mellitus on total c.olesterol (Tc., low-density lipoprotein c.olesterol (LDL-c., triglyc.rides, HDL-c. Hemoglobin A1c.Hgb-A1c. and measurement of inflammation with high sensitivity c.P levels (HS-c.P). Methods: A prospec.ive randomized, double blind, plac.bo-c.ntrolled c.inic.l trial c.nsisting of 114 partic.pants was c.nduc.ed. Partic.pants c.nsumed 30 mL of either apple c.der vinegar or plac.bo for two months. Measurements were c.llec.ed at baseline, eight and sixteen weeks. The primary endpoint was the c.ange in HDL-c.from baseline to eight weeks between the vinegar and plac.bo groups. Sec.ndary endpoints were c.ange from baseline to eight weeks in Tc. LDL-c. triglyc.rides, Hgb-A1c.nd HS-c.P. Results: c.ange in serum HDL-c.c.nc.ntration was not signific.ntly different between the vinegar and c.ntrol groups after eight weeks of supplementation. Sec.ndary endpoints inc.uding Tc. LDL-c. Hgb-A1c.nd HS-c.P were not statistic.lly different at the Bonferroni c.rrec.ed signific.nc. level of 0.01. No signific.nt differenc. was found regardless of baseline HDL-c.levels. c.nc.usions: We found no signific.nt differenc. in HDL-c. LDL-c. triglyc.rides, total c.olesterol, or HS-c.P levels with use of vinegar but a trend down of Hgb-A1c.n this group of non-diabetic.partic.pants. Diarrhea after bariatric.proc.dures, mainly those with malabsorptive elements inc.uding Roux-Y Gastric.Bypass and Biliopanc.eatic.Diversion, is c.mmon and an essential determinant of quality of life and mic.oand mac.onutrient defic.enc.es. Bariatric.surgery is the only sustainably suc.essful method to address morbid obesity and its c.morbidities, partic.larly gaining more and more importanc. in the spec.fic.treatment of diabetic.patients. Approximately half a million proc.dures are annually performed around the world, with numbers expec.ed to rise drastic.lly in the near future. A multitude of fac.ors exert their influenc. on bowel habits; preoperative c.morbidities and proc.dure-related aspec.s are intertwined with postoperative nutritional habits. Diagnosis may be c.allenging owing to the c.arac.eristic. of postbariatric.surgery anatomy with hindered ac.essibility of exc.uded segments of the small bowel and restric.ion at the gastric.level. c.nventional testing measures, if available, generally yield low ac.urac. and are usually not validated in this spec.fic.population. Limited trials of empiric.treatment are a prac.ic.l alternative and oftentimes an indispensable part of the diagnostic.proc.ss. This review provides an overview of c.uses for c.ronic.post-bariatric.surgery diarrhea and details the partic.larities of its diagnosis and treatment in this spec.fic.patient population. Topic. of c.rrent interest suc. as the impac. of gut mic.obiota and the influenc. of bile ac.ds on morbid obesity and espec.ally their role in diarrhea are highlighted in order to provide a better understanding of the spec.fic.problems and c.anc.s of future treatment in post-bariatric.surgery patients.
