A significant fraction of the conventional oil reserves globally is in carbonate formations which contain a substantial amount of residual oil. Since primary and secondary recovery methods fail to yield above 20%-40%of original oil in place from these reserves, the need for enhanced oil recovery（EOR） techniques for incremental oil recovery has become imperative. With the challenges presented by the highly heterogeneous carbonate rocks,evaluation of tertiary-stage recovery techniques including chemical EOR（c EOR） has been a high priority for researchers and oil producers. In this review, the latest developments in the surfactant-based c EOR techniques applied in carbonate formations are discussed, contemplating the future direction of existing methodologies. In connection with this, the characteristics of heterogeneous carbonate reservoirs are outlined. Detailed discussion on surfactant-led oil recovery mechanisms and related processes, such as wettability alteration, interfacial tension reduction, microemulsion phase behavior, surfactant adsorption and mitigation, and foams and their applications is presented. Laboratory experiments, as well as field study data obtained using several surfactants, are also *** extensive discussion on the subject aims to help researchers and professionals in the field to understand the current situation and plan future enterprises accordingly.

High heat dissipation is required for miniaturization and increasing the power of electronic *** boiling is a promising option for achieving efficient heat dissipation at low wall superheat without the need for moving *** studies have focused on improving heat transfer efficiency during boiling by modifying the surface of the heating *** paper presents an experimental investigation on improving pool boiling heat transfer using an open *** primary goal of this work is to investigate the impact of the channel geometry characteristics on boiling heat ***,rectangular microchannels were prepared on a circular copper test piece with a diameter of 20 ***,the boiling characteristics of these microchannels were compared with those of a smooth surface under saturated conditions using deionized *** this investigation,a wire-cutting electrical discharge machine(EDm)machine was used to produce parallel microchannels with channel widths of 0.2,0.4,and 0.8 *** fin thicknesses were 0.2,0.4,and 0.6 mm,while the channel depth remained constant at 0.4 *** results manifested that the surface featuring narrower fins and broader channels achieved superior *** heat transfer coefficient(HTC)was enhanced by a maximum of 248%,and the critical heat flux(CHF)was enhanced by a maximum of 101%compared to a plain ***,the obtained results were compared with previous research and elucidated a good agreement.

Oxidative degradation of sunflower oil blended with roasted sesame oil during heating at frying temperature

The efficacy of roasted sesame oil(SO)on the oxidation deterioration of sunflower oil(SFO)during heating was *** concentrations of SO in the SFO were 0,10%,20%,and 30%by *** oxidation profile of oil samples was monitored by evaluating the generation of oxidation products and chemical alterations in the oils'composition during heating at frying temperature(180℃).The results showed that the oxidation parameters(free fatty acid,peroxide value,p-anisidine value,total oxidation status,thiobarbituric acid value,and color index)increased significantly in SFO compared to blends or SO during thermal *** heating,the concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFA)was reduced with increased level of saturated fatty acids;these results were observed more in SFO than those of SO or blend ***,the presence of SO in SFO reduced the decomposition of *** Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,the peak intensities were significantly altered in SFO compared to the blend oils during *** on the most analytical data,it may be agreed that the heating at frying temperature led to the generation of relatively higher contents of oxidative products in SFO compared to blend oils,showing a lower degree of oxidation occurred in *** best frying performance for the SFO was achieved by using 30%SO extracted from the roasted sesame *** study showed the proper blending of high polyunsaturated oil with SO can produce oil blends with high nutritional values and enhanced stability for daily cooking and deep-frying applications.

Renewable energy is one of the essential elements of the social and economic development in any civilized *** use of fossil fuels and the non-renewable form of energy has many adverse effects on the most of *** the high potential of renewable energy sources in Yemen and the absence of similar studies in the region,this study aimed to examine the wind energy potential of Hodeidah-Yemen Republic by analyzing wind characteristics and assessment,determining the available power density,and calculate the wind energy extracted at different *** average wind speed of Hodeidah was obtained only for the data currently available for the five years 2005–2009(due to the current economic and the political situation in Yemen).The results show that the average wind speed in the five years is(25.2 W/m2 at 10 m,93.9 W/m2 at 30 m,and 173.5 W/m2 at 50 m).The average yearly wind power density(25.2 W/m2 at 10 m,93.9 W/m2 at 30 m and 173.5 W/m2 at 50m),and the average yearly energy density(220.8 KWh/m2/year at 10 m,822.6 KWh/m2/year at 30 m and 1519.9 KWh/m2/year at 50 m).This research is a preliminary assessment of the potential of wind energy in Hodeidah,which provides useful information for developing wind energy and an efficient wind *** to the International Wind Energy Rating criteria,the region of Hodeidah falls under‘Class 2’and is classified as‘marginal’for most of the year.

We develop a simple new design for a multi-band metamaterial absorber(mTmA)for radar *** Simulation Technology(CST)Studio Suite 2018 was used for the numerical analysis and absorption *** simulated results show four high peaks at 5.6 GHz,7.6 GHz,10.98 GHz,and 11.29 GHz corresponding to absorption characteristics of 100%,100%,99%,and 99%,***,two different structures were designed and compared with the proposed *** proposed structure remained insensitive for any incident angle and polarization angle from 0°to60°.moreover,negative constitutive parameters were retrieved *** support the simulated results,the proposed design was fabricated by using a computer numerical control-based printed circuit board prototyping machine and tested experimentally in a microwave *** absorption mechanism of the proposed mTmA is presented through the surface current and electric field *** novelties of the proposed structure are a simple and new design,ease of fabrication,low cost,durability,suitability for real-time applications and long-term stability given the fabrication technique and non-destructive measurement method and very high *** proposed structure has potential applications in C and X band frequency ranges.

Testosterone is a surrogate and proxy biomarker for severity of late-onset pre-eclampsia: A cross-sectional study

Objective:To find the association between testosterone serum levels and severity of late onset ***:This case-control study involved 34 patients with pre-eclampsia and 24 healthy control pregnant women matched for gestational and maternal *** recruited pregnant women were divided into two groups:the pre-eclampsia group(34 pregnant women with pre-eclampsia)and the control group(24 healthy pregnant women).Lipid profile,blood urea,serum creatinine,proteinuria,total serum testosterone,sex hormone binding globulin and free androgen index were ***,body mass index and blood pressure profile were ***:There were high systolic and diastolic blood pressures in the pregnant women with late-onset pre-eclampsia when compared with healthy pregnant women(Pal serum testosterone was higher in women with pre-eclampsia compared with healthy pregnant women(P=0.001).The free androgen index was higher in women with pre-eclampsia compared with healthy pregnant women(P=0.001).Sex hormone binding globulin level was low in women with pre-eclampsia compared with healthy pregnant women(P=0.001).High total serum testosterone was significantly correlated with all measured variables(P=0.001),except for body mass index and pulse pressure(both P=0.070).Smoking habit was low in those patients compared with healthy pregnant ***,total serum testosterone serum level was significantly correlated with number of cesarean sections(r=0.86,Pmpsia in pregnant women is associated with high serum levels of total serum testosterone,free androgen index,low sex hormone binding globulin,low smoking habit with positive history for nulliparity and caesarean sections that are correlated with high blood pressure ***,high total serum testosterone which is correlated with most of risk factors of late-onset pre-eclampsia is regarded as a proxy biomarker reflecting the seve
