Hydraulic and volume change behaviors of compacted highly expansive soil under cyclic wetting and drying

The wide engineered application of compacted expansive soils necessitates understanding their behavior under field *** results of this study demonstrate how seasonal climatic variation and stress and boundary conditions individually or collectively influence the hydraulic and volume change behavior of compacted highly expansive *** cyclic wetting and drying(CWD)process was applied for two boundary conditions,*** stress(Cs)and constant volume(CV),and for a wide range of axial stress *** adopted CWD process affected the hydraulic and volume change behaviors of expansive soils,with the first cycle of wetting and drying being the most *** CWD process under Cs conditions resulted in shrinkage accumulation and reduction in saturated hydraulic conductivity(k sat).On the other hand,CWD under CV conditions caused a reduction of swell pressure while has almost no impact on k *** elastic response to CWD was achieved after the third cycle for saturated hydraulic conductivity(k sat),the third to fourth cycle for the volume change potential under the CV conditions,and the fourth to fifth cycle for the volume change potential under the Cs ***,both swell pressure(s s)and saturated hydraulic conductivity(k sat)are not fundamental parameters of the expansive soil but rather depend on stress,boundary and wetting conditions.

Building Custom spreadsheet Functions with Python: End-User software Engineering Approach

End-user computing empowers non-developers to manage data and applications, enhancing collaboration and efficiency. spreadsheets, a prime example of end-user programming environments widely used in business for data analysis. However, Excel functionalities have limits compared to dedicated programming languages. This paper addresses this gap by proposing a prototype for integrating Python’s capabilities into Excel through on-premises desktop to build custom spreadsheet functions with Python. This approach overcomes potential latency issues associated with cloud-based solutions. This prototype utilizes Excel-DNA and IronPython. Excel-DNA allows creating custom Python functions that seamlessly integrate with Excel’s calculation engine. IronPython enables the execution of these Python (CsFs) directly within Excel. C# and VsTO add-ins form the core components, facilitating communication between Python and Excel. This approach empowers users with a potentially open-ended set of Python (CsFs) for tasks like mathematical calculations, statistical analysis, and even predictive modeling, all within the familiar Excel interface. This prototype demonstrates smooth integration, allowing users to call Python (CsFs) just like standard Excel functions. This research contributes to enhancing spreadsheet capabilities for end-user programmers by leveraging Python’s power within Excel. Future research could explore expanding data analysis capabilities by expanding the (CsFs) functions for complex calculations, statistical analysis, data manipulation, and even external library integration. The possibility of integrating machine learning models through the (CsFs) functions within the familiar Excel environment.

Enhancing Data Analysis and Automation: Integrating Python with Microsoft Excel for Non-Programmers

Microsoft Excel is essential for the End-User Approach (EUA), offering versatility in data organization, analysis, and visualization, as well as widespread accessibility. It fosters collaboration and informed decision-making across diverse domains. Conversely, Python is indispensable for professional programming due to its versatility, readability, extensive libraries, and robust community support. It enables efficient development, advanced data analysis, data mining, and automation, catering to diverse industries and applications. However, one primary issue when using Microsoft Excel with Python libraries is compatibility and interoperability. While Excel is a widely used tool for data storage and analysis, it may not seamlessly integrate with Python libraries, leading to challenges in reading and writing data, especially in complex or large datasets. Additionally, manipulating Excel files with Python may not always preserve formatting or formulas accurately, potentially affecting data integrity. Moreover, dependency on Excel’s graphical user interface (GUI) for automation can limit scalability and reproducibility compared to Python’s scripting capabilities. This paper covers the integration solution of empowering non-programmers to leverage Python’s capabilities within the familiar Excel environment. This enables users to perform advanced data analysis and automation tasks without requiring extensive programming knowledge. Based on soliciting feedback from non-programmers who have tested the integration solution, the case study shows how the solution evaluates the ease of implementation, performance, and compatibility of Python with Excel versions.

BACKGROUND The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has posed a major public health concern *** with comorbid conditions are at risk of adverse outcomes following *** organ transplant recipients with concurrent immunosuppression and comorbidities are more susceptible to a severe COVID-19 *** could lead to higher rates of inpatient complications and mortality in this patient ***,studies on COVID-19 outcomes in liver transplant(LT)recipients have yielded inconsistent *** To evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on hospital-related outcomes among LT recipients in the United *** We conducted a retrospective cohort study using the 2019–2020 National Inpatient sample *** with primary LT hospitalizations and a secondary COVID-19 diagnosis were identified using the International Classi-fication of Diseases,Tenth Revision coding *** primary outcomes included trends in LT hospitalizations before and during the COVID-19 *** outcomes included comparative trends in inpatient mortality and transplant rejection in LT *** A total of 15720 hospitalized LT recipients were *** 0.8% of patients had a secondary diagnosis of COVID-19 *** both cohorts,the median admission age was 57 *** linear trends for LT hospitalizations did not differ significantly before and during the pandemic(P=0.84).The frequency of in-hospital mortality for LT recipients increased from 1.7% to 4.4% between January 2019 and December *** to the pre-pandemic period,a higher association was noted between LT recipients and in-hospital mortality during the pandemic,with an odds ratio(OR)of 1.69[95% confidence interval(CI):1.55-1.84),Psplant rejections among hospitalized LT recipients increased from 0.2%to 3.6% between January 2019 and December *** hospitalizations during the COVID-19 pandemic had a higher associ

Cybersecurity threats are increasing rapidly as hackers use advanced *** a result,cybersecurity has now a significant factor in protecting organizational *** detection systems(IDss)are used in networks to flag serious issues during network management,including identifying malicious traffic,which is a *** remains an open contest over how to learn features in IDs since current approaches use deep learning *** learning,which combines swarm intelligence and evolution,is gaining attention for further improvement against cyber *** this study,we employed a PsO-GA(fusion of particle swarm optimization(PsO)and genetic algorithm(GA))for feature selection on the CICIDs-2017 *** achieve better accuracy,we proposed a hybrid model called LsTM-GRU of deep learning that fused the GRU(gated recurrent unit)and LsTM(long short-term memory).The results show considerable improvement,detecting several network attacks with 98.86%accuracy.A comparative study with other current methods confirms the efficacy of our proposed IDs scheme.

Evaluation of the Neurodevelopmental Outcome of Toddlers with spinal Dysraphism after surgical Repair Using AsQ-3<sup>™sup> scores

Background: spinal dysraphism represents a wide spectrum of congenital abnormalities of the spine. Myelomeningocele is considered the most common malformation and the most common we saw in our community, with its morbidity problems seen commonly in the postoperative period. AsQ-3sup>TMsup> scores are the ages and stages questionnaire, third edition, and represent a tool to assess the development progress, especially in toddlers. Objectives: Evaluation of neurodevelopmental outcome among sudanese toddlers with spinal dysraphism after surgical closure with or without a VP shunt using AsQ-3sup>TMsup> scores. Methodology: This is a retrospective hospital-based study of 84 patients who underwent myelomeningocele repair at the National Center for Neurological sciences (NCNs) during the period from 2017 up to 2019. Data were collected through a constructed questionnaire, including AsQ-3sup>TMsup> scores. Data were processed and analyzed using the statistical Package for social science (sPss) computer program. Version 25. Results: 84 patients were included in this study;all patients were diagnosed with spinal dysraphism. Out of them, 51 (60.7%) were 2 years old, 33 (39.3%) were 3 years old, 45 (53.6%) were male, 45 (53.6%) of patients mothers attended ANC irregularly, and 54 (64.3%) their mothers didn’t receive folate supplements. 44 (52.3%) of patients underwent MMC repair only, while 40 (47.7%) underwent MMC repair and VP shunt. The commonest postoperative complication was infection, reported in 12 (14.3%) of patients, followed by VP shunt revision in 9 (10.7%) of patients. Neurological assessment showed that the majority of patients need further assessment with a professional, 57 (67.9%) of children don’t walk, run, or climb like other toddlers as their parent’s state;also, half of patients (42, 50%) had medical problems, and 27 (32.1%) of their parent’s state that they do not talk like other toddlers their age. The Mutis-Timau Forest Complex,located on Timor Island,Indonesia,is a mountainous tropical forest area that gradually decreases due to deforestation and forest *** modelling studies based on patterns indicate that deforestation primarily occurs at lower elevations and near the boundaries of forests and settlements,often associated with shifting cultivation by local *** study adopts a process-based modelling approach,specifically the agent-based model,to simulate land changes,particularly farmers'expansion of agricultural land around the Mutis mountain *** underlying concept of this agent-based approach is the interaction between the human and environmental ***,representing the human system,interact with the land,which represents the environmental system,through land use decision-making *** research was conducted in the Community Forest of the Timor Tengah Utara District,one of the sites within the Mutis-Timau Forest Complex with the highest deforestation *** use change simulations were performed using agent-based modelling from 1999 to 2030,considering the socio-economic conditions of farmers,spatial preferences,land use decisions,and natural *** results revealed that the agricultural area increased by 14%under the Business as Usual scenario and 5%under the Reducing Emission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation scenario,compared to the initial agricultural area of 245 *** probability of farmers deciding to extend agricultural activities was positively associated with the number of livestock maintained by farmers and the size of the village ***,the likelihood of farmers opting for agricultural extensification decreased with an increase in the area of private land and the farmer's *** findings are crucial for the managers of the Mutis-Timau Forest Complex and other relevant stakeholders,as they aid in arranging actions to combat deforestation,designing proper fore

负泊松比材料由于其独特的拉胀特性,被广泛应用于抗冲击性能较高的耐撞防护结构中。本文旨在提升防护结构的耐撞性,基于内凹六边形负泊松比材料设计了一种负泊松比夹层结构,并采用有限元软件Ls-dyna对其耐撞性能进行仿真研究。通过对比不同载荷工况下负泊松比夹层结构的耐撞性,分析载荷形状与碰撞角度等对结构耐撞性能的影响。研究结果表明,负泊松比夹层结构的吸能过程主要通过胞元变形来实现,且参与变形的胞元越多,其耐撞性越好。本文为船舶耐撞防护结构设计提供了新的思路和方法,具有实际应用前景。
