Complement-dependent neuroinf.ammation in spinal cord injury:f.om pathology to therapeutic implications

Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of.disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of.injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of.the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinf.ammation,a similar role f.r complement in spinal neuroinf.ammation is a f.cus of.ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of.complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of.complement proteins,triggers of.complement activation,and role of.ef.ector f.nctions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the dif.erent triggers of.complement activation af.er spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** ef.ector f.nctions of.complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of.complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of.pathophysiological understanding of.the role of.opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the dif.erent translational approaches used in preclinical models of.spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges f.r f.ture translation into human *** review emphasizes the need f.r f.ture studies to dissect the roles of.dif.erent complement pathways in the pathology of.spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of.involvement of.opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of.complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

The United States largely relies on a system of.arbitration to handle retail consumer f.nancial disputes. This approach has undergone signif.cant challenges in recent yearsparticularly in light of.recent abuses of.consumer credit arbitration mechanisms. This paper reports on the result of.a non-randomized smalLn survey which we label the ＂f.nancial Dispute Study＂ aiming at evaluating the relative ef.ectiveness of.two major approaches to f.nancial dispute resolution -- arbitration and ombudsman services. Nearly a hundred survey questionnaires were distributed to f.nancial dispute resolution practitioners throughout the world. A total of.f.rty-eight arbitrators and ombudsmen f.om East Asia, North America, Europe, the middle East and Af.ica responded. In the Study the participants were asked how practitioners viewed the level of.satisf.ction, settlement rate and perceived increase or decrease in the use of.the given method of.f.nancial dispute resolution -- whether arbitration or ombudsman service.

The electronic properties（f.rmi surf.ce,band structure,and density of.states（DOS）） of.Al-based alloys Alm3（m=Zr and Cu） and AlCu2Zr are investigated using the f.rst-principles pseudopotential plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation（GGA）.The structural parameters and elastic constants are evaluated and compared with other available ***,the pressure dependences of.mechanical properties of.the compounds are *** temperature dependence of.adiabatic bulk modulus,Debye temperature,specif.c heat,thermal expansion coef.icient,entropy,and internal energy are all obtained f.r the f.rst time through quasi-harmonic Debye model with phononic ef.ects f.r T = 0 K-100 *** parameters of.optical properties（dielectric f.nctions,ref.active index,extinction coef.icient,absorption spectrum,conductivity,energy-loss spectrum,and ref.ectivity） of.the compounds are calculated and discussed f.r the f.rst *** ref.ectivities of.the materials are quite high in the IR-visible-UV region up to ~ 15 eV,showing that they promise to be good coating materials to avoid solar *** of.the properties are also compared with those of.the Al-based Ni3 Al compound.

f.r our KDP crystal orientation, various tbermo-optic （TO） and relevant temperature-dependence param- eters are def.ned, presented, and studied in the f.amework of.a transverse and a longitudinal electro-optic （EO） modulation systems. This study is based on the concept of.the so-called opto-electrical bias （~） ap- plied to the system. f.r both of.the above EO-modulation systems, a set of.original equations is extracted and investigated with regard to each of.the more important TO or temperature coef.icients. Using these equations, f.r these parameters the role of.the transverse conf.guration is examined in comparison with its corresponding longitudinal conf.guration. A comparison is done with other orientation of.the same KDP crystal.

Preyssler acid H14[NaP5W30O110] was used as reducing agent and stabilizer f.r the synthesis of.gold nanoparticles by photolysis of.Au(III)/Preyssler acid/propan-2-ol *** acid plays both the role of.transf.rring electrons f.om propan-2-ol to Au(III) and stabilizing the ***-2-ol was used as sacrif.cial reagent f.r the photof.rmation of.reduced Preyssler *** nanoparticles (Au NPs) were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy,transmission electron microscopy (TEm),and particle size distribution (PSD) *** synthesized Au NPs had a unif.rm hexagonal morphology and their size was about 17 *** catalytic perf.rmance of.these NPs f.r photodegradation of.methyl orange (meO) was investigated in aqueous ***-Vis studies showed that Au NPs can catalyze photodegradation of.this azo *** pseudo-f.rst-order rate constants were also calculated f.r this reaction.

A passive-biped model with multiple routes to chaos

This paper presents a new passive-biped model consisting of.a simplest walking model beneath an upper body, with no kinematic constraint. The upper body is attached to the legs with a linear torsional spring. The model is a passive dynamic walker, so it walks down a slope without energy input. The governing equations of.motion are derived and simulated f.r the parameter analysis purposes. Simulation results reveal some dif.erent routes to chaos that have not been observed in previous models.

Prediction of.Soil Depth f.om Digital Terrain Data by Integrating Statistical and Visual Approaches

Inf.rmation about the spatial distribution of.soil attributes is indispensable f.r many land resource management applications; however, the ability of.soil maps to supply such inf.rmation f.r modern modeling tools is questionable. The objectives of.this study were to investigate the possibility of.predicting soil depth using some terrain attributes derived f.om digital elevation models （DEms） with geographic inf.rmation systems （GIS） and to suggest an approach to predict other soil attributes. Soil depth was determined at 652 f.eld observations over the A1-muwaqqar Watershed （70 km2） in Jordan. Terrain attributes derived f.om 30-m resolution DEms were utilized to predict soil depth. The results indicated that the use of.multiple linear regression models within small watershed subdivisions enabled the prediction of.soil depth with a dif.erence of.50 cm f.r 77% of.the f.eld observations. The spatial distribution of.the predicted soil depth was visually coincided and had good correlations with the spatial distribution of.the classes amalgamating three terrain attributes, slope steepness, slope shape, and compound topographic index. These suggested that the modeling of.soil-landscape relationships within small watershed subdivisions using the three terrain attributes was a promising approach to predict other soil attributes.

In this research, the ef.ects of.target sputtering power on the structure and optical properties of.radio f.equency （Rf. sputtered Ti6A14V f.lms were investigated. Dif.erent sputtering Rf.powers were used to produce dif.erent thicknesses of.Ti6A14V thin f.lms, f.om the X-ray dif.raction, it was f.und that the Ti6A14V f.lms had polycrystalline cubic and hexagonal structures and increased f.lms crystallinity and crystalline size with increasing the sputtering power. Atomic f.rces microscopy （Af.） gave us a nanometric f.lm character, f.lms homogeneity, and surf.ces roughness. A higher degree of.roughness and average grain size with increasing Rf.power was exhibited. Band gap and ref.active index of.Ti6A14V thin f.lms varied with sputtering Rf.powers.
