Objective: This study aims to analyze clinical, paraclinical and therapeutic aspects of sinusitis complications in the Otorhinolaryngology department at the teaching hospital of Gabriel Toure in Bamako. Materials and methods: This descriptive and longitudinal study was conducted on 12 months from March 2012 to February 2013 in 9 cases of sinusitis complications in the department of Otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital Gabriel Toure in Bamako. Results: The average age of patients was 22.7 years;a median of 19 years within 6 men and 3 women with almost 12.9 days of care seeking duration. The factors of risky were the use of nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs NSAID (4 cases), maxillofacial trauma (1 case) and HIV (1 case). Facial pain was the major symptom, such as frontal oedema, rhinorrhea with pus shedding and nasal obstruction. Computer tomography was used for complications specification. Frontal sinusitis was the most encountered with subperiosteal abscess (44.4%). Streptococcus pneumoniae was identified in 3 cases. Medical treatment associated to surgery was conducted on 7 patients. Two cases of death have been registered. Conclusion: The complicated sinusitis is an emergency and dangerous disease requiring specific care by a multidisciplinary staff. Much of complications are commonly encountered despite the antibiotic era.

Tonsillitis or angina, is considered as an inflammation of the palatine tonsils most often of infectious origin. It can be acute or chronic. The germs in question are mostly viruses and bacteria. Objectives: The objective of this work was to study the epidemiological and therapeutic profile of tonsillitis and their complications in the ENT Department and Head and Neck Surgery of the Mother-Child University Hospital in Luxembourg. Patients and Methods: This is a prospective study over a 12-month period from January 2018 to December 2018, including all patients who presented with tonsillitis and/or their complications. Results: Three hundred and fifteen (315) patients were collected during this period. The average age in our study was 14.25 years with extremes ranging from 2 years to 61 years. The sex ratio was 0.65 in favor of the female sex. During this period we recorded 80.95% of cases of uncomplicated tonsillitis including 60.50% for acute tonsillitis, 24.5% for chronic tonsillitis 5% for adenoid tonsillitis and 19.05% for complications. Complications included peritonsillar phlegmon 42.22%, heart disease 33.33%, cervical cellulitis 8.89%, adeno-phlegmon 6.67%, para-pharyngeal abscess 4.44%, and sepsis 4.44%. The exclusive medical treatment was performed in 44.31%. Surgical treatment (drainage incision and tonsillectomy) was performed in 55.69%. Conclusion: Tonsillitis and its complications represent an important pathology in ENT. Feynophagy febrile is the pair-origin symptom that can lead to the diagnosis. The prevention of complications is the guarantor of the reduction of its morbidity. We recommend that in the absence of RDT (Rapid Diagnostic Test), it is necessary to systematize antibiotic therapy to prevent serious complications.

Introduction: Cervical cystic lymphangiomas are rare benign dysembryoplastic tumors of lymphatic origin. Its severity in the child is due on one hand to their fast evolution and the compression of the way aerodigestive and on the other hand, by the classical difficulty of their excision. The purpose of this work was to report a case of giant cervical cystic lymphangioma in a child to discuss the difficulties associated with its management in our context. Observation: This was a 3-year-old female child who was admitted to the ENT department of CHU “Luxembourg” for right lateral cervical swelling. The clinical examination had noted a large anterior-latero cervical swelling of soft, renitent, painless palpation, movable in relation to the superficial and deep plane, measuring about 20 cm × 17 cm, the skin was healthy. It wasn’t particularity to the rest of the physical examination. The diagnosis of giant cervical cystic lymphangioma was discussed. Thorough excision of the swelling by right lateral cervicotomy was performed. Anatomopathological examination of the operative specimen confirmed the diagnosis. The postoperative course was simple and the evolution was favorable. Conclusion: Cervical cystic lymphangiomas are rare. Their management involves surgery, with short and long-term post-operative outcomes are often excellent.

Objective: Provide the place of ENT diseases at the Reference Health Center of the Commune V of Bamako. Materials and Method: A cross-sectional study using ENT medical assessment was carried out from January 2017 to December 2017 at the Reference Health Center of Commune V of Bamako’s District. Results: 1911 patients were included and that number represented 15.46% of all non-obstetrics medical consultations in the health center. The sex ratio was 0.83 for women (54.7%). The average age was 22 years old. Otologic diseases were 66.4% of the cases followed by nasal sinus cases (16.6%). Infectious and inflammatory diseases were 74.1% and were the main diagnosed diseases. The difficulties were mainly from technical platform. Conclusion: The diversity of these pathologies required a strong development or reinforcement of human and material resources capacities in of these structures for proximity care management.

Aim: Our goal was to determine the histological profile of ENT lesions. Method: We carried out a retrospective and descriptive study in the ENT department and Cervico-Facial Surgery at the university hospital center Gabriel Touré (MALI) from 1995 to 2014. It made it possible to collect 450 cases. Result: We found a male predominance;51.11% or a sex ratio of 1.04. The mean age of patients was 38.04 years with a standard deviation of 19.49 years and extremes of 3 months and 91 years. Benign tumors were the most frequent (154 cases or 34.22%) including 75 cases of adenomas and 43 cases of papillomas. Cancers accounted for 48.11% (or 153 cases) of all tumors and 34% of lesions. Carcinomas accounted for 81.04%, malignant lymphomas 13.72% and sarcomas 5.22% of cases. Among the 140 cases (31.11%) of inflammatory pseudotumors, we found 12 cases of tuberculosis and 15 cases of rhinoscleroma. Three (3) cases of dysplasia were observed. Conclusion: Interest should be focused on histology in order to initiate appropriate therapy.

Gold-silver deposits in the Atalla area occur as hydrothermal quartz veins in NE–SW pre-existing fractures within the Atalla granitic *** orientation of such quartz veins has been attributed to extensional behavior related to the Atalla Shear Zone(ASZ).The Atalla area is covered by a variety of lithologies that are(from oldest to youngest):metasedimentary rocks,metavolcanic rocks,ophiolite assemblage(serpentinites/talc-carbonates),Atalla granite and Dokhan volcanic ***,Atalla granite ranges in composition from granodiorite to *** geochemistry constrains the calc-alkaine affinity of the Atalla granite that was intruded within an orogenic(syncollision)tectonic *** ore minerals are represented by gold/silver(electrum),pyrite(Py1&Py2),arsenopyrite,pyrrhotite,sphalerite,chalcopyrite,galena,covellite and *** temperature of ore formation ranges from 240 to 285℃and the estimated fluid pressure is in the range of 20–100 *** on the geological setting,ore textures and fluid characteristics;the Atalla Au-ag deposits are considered to be orogenic in nature,formed from a continental collision(~653-590 Ma),synchronous with the emplacement of calc-alkaline magmatism during the evolutionary history of the Arabian Nubian Shield(ANS).The initial ore-forming fluid was primarily derived from a metamorphic source related to ophiolitic-serpentinite rocks under deep regional conditions of greenschist-amphibolite facies,where the Atalla granitic eruption provided the required temperature conditions for the metamorphic process to take *** such conditions,the transportation of ore metals as bisulfide complexes is *** deposition of ore minerals was triggered by fluidwallrock interaction through fracture pathways in conjunction with a temperature-pressure drop that is likely to have been related to uplift into the crustal levels.

The present paper investigates the stream sediment geochemistry, behavior of gold and associated elements, delineates Au-anomalous sites and defines related sources in the Wadi Umm Rilan area. Fifty three major and trace elements were analyzed using ICP-MS and treated applying various statistical and mapping techniques. The results showed a significant difference of mean and median Au and most chemical elements in the three portions of the area, and higher values were recorded in the western portion. Furthermore, Au-anomalous sites appeared in upper and lower parts of the Wadi Umm Rilan, along the tributaries of metavolcanic unit and near granitoid contacts. This indicates the main source of Au mineralization is related to emplacement of granitoid plutons and accompanying hydrothermal solutions. There are significant indications for the presence of more than one mineralization event forming a probable single major episode of mineralization in the area, involving Au, Pb and U mineralizations. Geology, geomorphologic aspects and weathering processes could control stream sediment geochemistry, anomalies of Au and associated elements, elemental association and their dispersion patterns. Therefore, the area is fruitful and regarded as a promising target for Au exploration, using ag, As, Sb, Cd, Cs, and TI as pathfinder elements.

A suite of elements（ag,Au,Ba,Bi,Cd,Co,Cr,Cu,Ga,Hf,Hg,Mn,Mo,Ni,Pb,Rb,Sb,Se, Sr,Te and Zn）,total organic carbon（TOC）and pH were analyzed in stream sediment and tailing samples from Um Shashoba area,in order to evaluate Au placer and the sediments being impacted by old mining *** results were examined using statistical,graphical and mapping *** spite of the results revealing that Au and most of the elements in sediments were in general significantly lower than those in tailing,Au was concentrated in the NE and SW parts forming Au *** is remarkably a close association of Au with Hg and Sb;both are useful as pathfinder elements for Au *** of pH could not control a fate of analyzed elements,whereas TOC and Mn oxides and hydroxides could uptake some elements Au,Ba,Co,Cr,Hg,Ni,and *** results also indicated that the sediments were contaminated by anthropogenic factors causing moderate,strong to very strong pollution with respect to Bi,Se and Te,***,geogenic factors could also contribute elemental enrichment to the drainage system and cause significant toxicity level.

The SEM-EDX technique was applied to investigate Au, and Cu＋Sn alloyed grains in the mineralization of the Um Shashoba mine for achieving further understanding of occurrences, internal structures and microchemistry of Au and Cu alloys and associated minerals, and mineralization type. This study is aiming at the genetic history of ore-bearing fluid events, geochemical evaluation and exploration significance. The results showed that the mineralization could be considered as a single major episode generated by metamorphic mesothermal solution rich in sulfides and unsaturated respect to Au. It was differentiated into many stages; started with formation of auriferous pyrite that was pseudomorphed by secondary hematite, limonite and goethite. Three phases of Au alloy were precipitated, and Cu＋Sn and ag-rich alloys were produced respectively and followed by deposition of two generations of barren pyrite. Calcite and ankerite were crystalized, surrounded and partially replaced some of early formed minerals. Finally, barren muscovite recrystallized around and inside both later formed carbonate minerals that were free of any sign of Au in their structures. The processes of deformation, recrystallization, annealing, dissolution, remobilization and re-precipitation played the most important roles in the genetic history of the mineralization.
