The elastic modulus of a deposit （Ed） can be obtained by monitoring the temperature （AT） and curvature （Ak） of a one-side coated long plate, namely, a onedimensional （1D） deformation model. The aim of this research is to design an experimental setup that proves whether a 1D deformation model can be scaled for complex geometries. The setup includes a laser displace- ment sensor mounted on a robotic arm capable of scanning a specimen surface and measuring its deformation. The reproducibility of the results is verified by comparing the present results with Stony Brook University Laboratory＇s results. The Ak-AT slope error is less than 8%, and the Eo estimation error is close to 2%. These values reveal the repeatability of the experiments. Several samples fabri- cated with aluminum as the substrate and 100MXC nanowire （Fe and Cr alloy） as the deposit are analyzed and compared with those in finite element （FE） simula- tions. The linear elastic behavior of 1D （flat long plate） and 2D （squared plate） specimens during heating/cooling cycles is demonstrated by the high linearity of all Ak-AT curves （over 97%）. The Ed values are approximately equal for 1D and 2D analyses, with a median of 96 GPa and standard deviation of 2 GPa. The correspondence between the experimental and simulated results for the 1D and 2D specimens reveals that deformation and thermal stress in coated specimens can be predicted regardless of specimen geometry through FE modeling and by using the experimental value of Ed. An example of a turbine-blade- shaped substrate is presented to validate the approach.

Patients with schizophrenia(SCZ)are at high risk of cardiovascular disease(CVD)due to an inherited predisposition,a sedentary life style and the use of antipsychotic *** approaches have been taken to minimize this risk but results continue to be unsatisfactory.A potential alternative is prescribing selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs).SSRIs decrease platelet aggregation and reduce the risk of coronary heart disease in patients with *** therefore aim to investigate whether there is evidence that supports the use of SSRIs to reduce the risk for CVD in SCZ.A review of the literature revealed five published reports relating to the impact of SSRIs on CV risk in *** trials assessed the influence on metabolic parameters of fluvoxamine when combined with *** of those studies found improvements with *** the other two reports,one indicates SSRIs as a group caused minimal but statistically significant increments in total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein and *** second report suggests that when SSRIs are combined with antipsychotics,the metabolic impact depends on the antipsychotic *** there are promising results,no conclusions can be made currently on whether SSRIs increase or decrease CV risk in *** studies are needed to resolve this matter.

We are here to present a new method for the classification of epileptic seizures from electroencephalogram(EEG) *** consists of applying empirical mode decomposition(EMD) to extract the most relevant intrinsic mode functions(IMFs) and subsequent computation of the Teager and instantaneous energy,Higuchi and Petrosian fractal dimension,and detrended fluctuation analysis(DFA) for each *** validated the method using a public dataset of 24 subjects with EEG signals from 22 channels and showed that it is possible to classify the epileptic seizures,even with segments of six seconds and a smaller number of channels(e.g.,an accuracy of0.93 using five channels).We were able to create a general machine-learning-based model to detect epileptic seizures of new subjects using epileptic-seizure data from various subjects,after reducing the number of instances,based on the k-means algorithm.

Common pathogens potentially induce severe diseases whereas opportunistic microorganisms may attack vulnerable hosts. Clinical manifestations can be subtle and not specific. Body shape and metabolic rate can be important determinants of animal performance,yet often their effects on influential traits are evaluated in a non-integrated *** creates an important gap because the integration between shape and metabolism may be crucial to evaluate metabolic scaling ***,we measured standard metabolic rate in 1-and 2-years old juvenile brown trout Salmo trutta,and used a geometric morphometrics approach to extricate the effects of ontogeny and size on the link between shape and metabolic *** evidenced near-isometric ontogenetic scaling of metabolic rate with size,but also a biphasic pattern driven by a significant change in metabolic scaling,from positive to negative ***,the change in metabolic allometry parallels an ontogenetic change from elongate to deep-bodied *** is consistent with the dynamic energy budget(DEB)and surface area(SA)theories,but not with the resource transport network theory which predicts increasing allometric exponents for trends towards more robust,three-dimensional *** addition,we found a relationship between body shape and size independent metabolic rate,with a positive correlation between robustness and metabolic rate,which fits well within the view of Pace-of-Life Syndromes(POLS).Finally,our results align with previous studies that question the universality of metabolic scaling exponents and propose other mechanistic models explaining the diversity of metabolic scaling relationships or emphasizing the potential contribution of ecological factors.

We develop a computationally efficient scheme to accurately determine finite-temperature band gaps for metal halide perovskites belonging to the class ABX_(3)(A=Rb,Cs;B=Ge,Sn,Pb;and X=F,Cl,Br,I).First,an initial estimate of the band gap is provided for the ideal crystalline structure through the use of a range-separated hybrid functional,in which the parameters are determined non-empirically from the electron density and the high-frequency dielectric ***,we consider two kinds of band-gap corrections to account for spin-orbit coupling and thermal vibrations including zero-point *** particular,the latter effect is accounted for through the special displacement method,which consists in using a single distorted configuration obtained from the vibrational frequencies and eigenmodes,thereby avoiding lengthy molecular *** sequential consideration of both corrections systematically improves the band gaps,reaching a mean absolute error of 0.17 eV with respect to experimental *** computational efficiency of our scheme stems from the fact that only a single calculation at the hybrid-functional level is required and that it is sufficient to evaluate the corrections at the semilocal level of *** scheme is thus convenient for the screening of large databases of metal halide perovskites,including large-size systems.
