Neurotrophic fragments as therapeutic alternatives to ameliorate brain aging

Aging is a global phenomenon and a complex biological process of all living beings that introduces various *** this physiological process,the brain is the most affected organ due to changes in its structural and chemical functions,such as changes in plasticity and decrease in the number,diameter,length,and branching of dendrites and dendritic ***,it presents a great reduction in volume resulting from the contraction of the gray ***,aging can affect not only cognitive functions,including learning and memory,but also the quality of life of older *** a result of the phenomena,various molecules with notable neuroprotective capacity have been proposed,which provide a therapeutic alternative for people under conditions of aging or some neurodegenerative *** is important to indicate that in recent years the use of molecules with neurotrophic activity has shown interesting results when evaluated in in vivo *** review aims to describe the neurotrophic potential of molecules such as resveratrol(3,5,4′-trihydroxystilbene),neurotrophins(brain-derived neurotrophic factor),and neurotrophic-type compounds such as the terminal carboxyl domain of the heavy chain of tetanus toxin,cerebrolysin,neuropeptide-12,and *** of these molecules have been evaluated by our research *** suggest that these molecules exert an important therapeutic potential,restoring brain function in aging conditions or models of neurodegenerative ***,our interest is in describing the current scientific evidence that supports the therapeutic potential of these molecules with active neurotrophic.

Melanins represent one of the most ancient and important group of natural macromolecular *** have multiple biological roles in almost all organisms across the Phyla,examples being photoprotection,anti-oxidative action,radical scavenger activity,and heavy metal *** the biomedical point of view,melanocytes are involved in the origin of melanoma tumors,and the main therapeutic advances for their treatment have been revised in Part 1 of this *** chemical structure of eumelanin is a biological concern of great importance,and therefore,exploring theoretical molecular models and synthesis mechanisms will be here described,as well as molecular orbital features and supramolecular organization,which are responsible for the key properties that make these biological pigments so important,and so ***,this updated overview is devoted to describe present structural models and physico-chemical characteristics of eumelanin,in order to explain and utilize melanin properties on which new photothermal and ultrasonic protocols for melanoma treatment can be devised and applied.

Heart failure(HF)is a clinical syndrome caused by structural and/or functional cardiac abnormalities,resulting in a reduced cardiac output and/or elevated intracardiac filling pressures at rest or during *** is a major public health problem with high prevalence and incidence,involving both high morbidity and mortality,but also high economic *** incidence of HF progressively increases with age,reaching around 20%among people over 75 years ***,HF represents the leading cause of hospitalization in patients older than 65 years in Western ***,some authors even consider HF a geriatric syndrome,entailing worse prognosis and high residual disability,and often associating some complex comorbidities,common in older population,that may further complicate the course of the *** the other hand,however,clinical course and prognosis may be often difficult to *** this article,main pathophysiological issues related to the aging heart are addressed,together with key aspects related to both diagnosis and prognosis in elderly patients with ***,main geriatric conditions,common in the elderly population,are reviewed,highlighting the importance of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach.

Background:To assess the clinical outcomes of the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens(ICL)with a central port throughout 7 years of ***:Eighty-four eyes of 52 patients were evaluated over a follow-up period of 7 years after V4c ICL ***(UDVA)and corrected(CDVA)distance visual acuities,refraction,intraocular pressure(IOP),endothelial cell density(ECD)and vault were ***:The mean postoperative UDVA(logMAR)was 0.04±0.11,0.13±0.19 and 0.17±0.23 at 1-,5-and 7-years,respectively(Ps unchanged throughout a 7-year follow-up period(0.02±0.08 and 0.02±0.08,at 5-and 7-years,respectively,P=0.2).At all follow-up visits,more than 95%of the eyes achieved a CDVA of 20/25 or better and more than 85%a CDVA of 20/*** the end of the follow-up(7 years),no eye lost more lines of CDVA,56 eyes(66.7%)and 28 eyes(33.3%)gained lines of *** 7-years,the spherical equivalent was−0.62±0.62 *** significant increase in IOP(>20 mmHg or an increase higher than 5 mmHg)occurred in any case throughout the 7-year of *** loss in ECD from the preoperative baseline at the last follow-up visit was 2.6%.No intraoperative or postoperative complications or adverse events occurred during the follow-up ***:The outcomes of this study show the long-term viability of the V4c ICL implantation as a surgical option for the correction of myopia.

spatial-temporal variations of macroalgae were analyzed in a study conducted in Cueva de Los Peces (CP) and Punta Perdiz (PP), two dive sites located on the eastern coast of Bahía de Cochinos. The most conspicuous species found from 3 to 20 m depths were present in the biotopes of ridges and shallow and deep terraces. sampling was carried out in september 2014, and March and October 2016 by autonomous diving and direct methods. Qualitative visual censuses and quantitative analyzes were used to estimate the coverage (%) of the genera according to the AGRRA methodology with the use of the 10 m linear transect and quadrats as the sampling unit. The first list of macroalgae for the area is offered that includes 49 taxa of which 10 were Rhodophyta, 10 Ochrophyta (Phaeophyceae), and 29 Chlorophyta. The dominant genera during the study period were Halimeda, Dictyota, Lobophora, and Udotea. spatial differences were found regarding the specific composition. Temporal variations were evidenced in terms of the relative abundance of the genera present, which reveals temporal changes in the qualitative structure, where some species replace others. The information obtained is pioneering and can serve as a comparative baseline for future monitoring of the area.

Gibberellins(GAs)play important roles in multiple developmental processes and in plant response to the *** the GA pathway,a central regulatory step relies on GA-dependent degradation of the DELLA transcriptional ***,the relevance of the stability of other key proteins in this pathway,such as sLY1 and sNE(the F-box proteins involved in DELLA degradation),remains ***,we take advantage of mutants in the HsP70-HsP90 organizing protein(HOP)co-chaperones and reveal that these proteins contribute to the accumulation of sNE in ***,HOP proteins,along with HsP90 and HsP70,interact in vivo with sNE,and sNE accumulation is significantly reduced in the hop ***,greater accumulation of the DELLA protein RGA is observed in these *** agreement with these molecular phenotypes,hop mutants show a hypersensitive response to the GA inhibitor paclobutrazol and display a partial response to the ectopic addition of GA when GA-regulated processes are *** mutants also display different phenotypes associated with alterations in the GA pathway,such as reduced germination rate,delayed bolting,and reduced hypocotyl elongation in response to warm ***,ectopic overexpression of sNE reverts the delay in germination and the thermally dependent hypocotyl elongation defect of the hop1 hop2 hop3 mutant,revealing that sNE accumulation is the key aspect of the hop mutant ***,these data reveal a pivotal role for HOP in sNE accumulation and GA signaling.

This review provides a recompilation of the most important and recent strategies employed to increase the efficiency of metal-organic framework(MOF)-based systems toward the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution(PHE)reaction through specific strategies:tailoring the photocatalytic activity of bare MOFs and guest@MOF composites,formation of heterojunctions based on MOFs and various photocatalysts,and inorganic photocatalysts derived from *** to the data reported in this mini-review,the most effective strategy to improve the PHE of MOFs relies on modifying the linkers with new secondary building units(sBUs).Although several reviews have investigated the photocatalytic activity of MOFs from a general point of view,many of these studies relate this activity to the physicochemical and catalytic properties of ***,they did not consider the interactions between the components of the photocatalytic *** study highlights the effects of strength of the supramolecular interactions on the photocatalytic performance of bare and MOF-based materials during PHE.A thorough review and comparison of the results established that metal-nanoparticle@MOF composites have weak van der Waals forces between components,whereas heterostructures only interact with MOFs at the surface of bare *** material derivatives from MOFs,we found that pyrolysis destroyed some beneficial properties of MOFs for ***,we conclude that adding sBUs to organic linkers is the most efficient strategy to perform the PHE because the sBUs added to the MOFs promote synergy between the two materials through strong coordination bonds.
