Multiple mating by both sexes is common among sexually reproducing *** hive beetles(SHB),Aethina tumida,are parasites of bee nests endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and have become a widespread invasive *** the considerable economic damages they can cause,their basic biology remains poorly *** we show that male and female small hive beetles can mate multiple times,suggesting that costs for mating are low in this *** an invasive *** population in the United States,a combination of laboratory experiments for males and paternity analysis with eight polymorphic DNA microsatellite markers for field-caught females were used to estimate the number of mating by both *** data show that females and males can mate multiple times—females mated with up to eight males,whereas males mated with at least seven *** results also showed that *** displayed a skewed paternity,although this was not consistent among the tested ***,first or last male advantage seem to be unlikely in *** observations that individuals of both sexes of *** can mate multiple times opens new research avenues for examining drivers of multiple mating and determining the role it may play in promoting biological invasions.

The Moscoviense basin is an atypical lunar impact basin with concentric rings of positive and negative gravity anomalies. This basin can provide insights into the inhomogeneous thermal activities across the farside of the Moon. Based on an updated spherical harmonic thin elastic-shell loading model, we used localized admittance analyses to estimate the elastic thickness as well as other associated selenophysical parameters for the Moscoviense basin. The high precision gravity and topography data employed in our estimation were collected by the Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory and the Lunar Orbiter Laser Altimeter missions. Our results indicate that the crust-mantle interface is mainly compensated by the prefilling depth rather than the observed surface topography. The results constrained within two standard deviations yielded a small load ratio(~0.168), a best-fit crustal thickness of 36.2 km, and an optimized crustal density of 3159.5 kg m-3. Such large density approaches the density of olivine-rich mantle materials, implying that the excavation of the Mare Moscoviense occurred during a basin-forming impact. The inversed elastic thickness at Mare Moscoviense was around 18 km, lower than the previous results(~60 km) found over Mare basins on the lunar nearside. These results indicate that extreme thermal activity existed during the Moscoviense basin-forming period such as reheating mechanisms from a double-impact process and mare volcanism.

Inhalation injury is often associated with burns and significantly increases morbidity and mortality. The main toxic components of fire smoke are carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, and irritants. In the case of an incident at a nuclear power plant or recycling facility associated with fire, smoke may also contain radioactive material. Medical treatments may vary in different countries, and in this paper, we discuss the similarities and differences in the treatments between china and Germany. carbon monoxide poisoning is treated by 100% oxygen administration and,if available, hyperbaric oxygenation in china as well as in Germany. In addition, antidotes binding the cyanide ions and relieving the respiratory chain are important. Methemoglobin-forming agents(e.g., nitrites, dimethylaminophenol)or hydroxocobalamin(Vitamin B12) are options. The metabolic elimination of cyanide may be enhanced by sodium thiosulfate. In china, sodium nitrite with sodium thiosulfate is the most common combination. The use of dimethylaminophenol instead of sodium nitrite is typical for Germany, and hydroxocobalamin is considered the antidote of choice if available in cases of cyanide intoxications by fire smoke inhalation as it does not further reduce oxygen transport capacity. Systematic prophylactic use of corticosteroids to prevent toxic pulmonary edema is not recommended in china or Germany. Stable iodine is indicated in the case of radioiodine exposure and must be administered within several hours to be effective. The decorporation of metal radionuclides is possible with ca(DTPA)or Prussian blue that should be given as soon as possible. These medications are used in both countries, but it seems that ca(DTPA) is administered at lower dosages in china. Although the details of the treatment of inhalation injury and radionuclide(s) decorporation may vary, the general therapeutic strategy is very similar in china and Germany.
