Introduction: Micro focused ultrasound (MFU) is formed by mechanical waves emitted in a focused manner, concentrating thermal energy on a certain point or region, promoting a clinical improvement in wrinkles. Objective: evaluate the effects of micro focused ultrasound on facial rejuvenation. Methodology: This is an experimental study. The sample consisted of 30 volunteers, who were evaluated before treatment, 45 and 90 days after its beginning. A single application of the MFU was performed across the facial region. The parameters used were: 10 MHz cartridge with depth of 1.5 mm, 7 MHz with depth of 3 mm, and 4 MHz with focal depth of 4.5 mm;doses ranged from 0.1 to 2.0 J, according to the sensitivity of the volunteers treated, and the application time was of approximately 90 minutes. Clinical photographic analysis and facial symmetry analysis using Dolphin Imaging software were performed, and validated questionnaires. Two volunteers were submitted to blepharoplasty surgery, and one to rhytidoplasty surgery 45 days after the application of the MFU. Samples of the treated skin were taken after the surgical procedures and submitted to histological and immunohistochemical analyses. The volunteers answered a questionnaire to assess adverse reactions and satisfaction. Results: We observed a visible clinical improvement on the images by photography, and an improvement of facial symmetry in the measurements of the paralateronasal projection (p = 0.007), left lateral mandibular (p = 0.01), and right lateral mandibular (p = 0.008). The histological analysis showed an increase in the amount of fibroblasts (p = 0.02), blood vessels (p = 0.0062) and inflammatory cells (p = 0.0036), in addition to the production of type 1 collagen. In the immunohistochemical analysis, we observed the presence of the macrophage marker IHQ: CD68, indicating phagocytosis of adipose tissue and the presence of fibrosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate the visible loss of sugar cane and the damage to the knuckles, using the John Deere 3520 harvester on three different travel speeds (3.0;4.0 and 5.0 km·h-1), in DIC with five repetitions in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. Each treatment was composed by six lines of harvested cane stumps, with a length of 290 m each. In these six lines, the remains of sugar cane left in the field were collected by placing the sampling frame in two central lines every 50 m, and separating 40 m of edge. The sampling area was surrounded by 2 m wide and 10 m long, totaling 20 m2. To calculate the damage to stumps, a visual methodology by [1], was used, which classifies the damage grade, ranging from 1 to 4. Fifty stumps were assessed randomly for each speed, in a sampling area of 1800 m2. The data were submitted to ANOVA and Tukey test at 5%, in order to compare the effect of different speeds on the losses and damages. There was no significant difference regarding the loss or damage by comparing the different speeds. Therefore, it is more advantageous to use the speed of 5.0 km·h-1, harvesting more in less time and causing the same level of damage.

本文报告了为创建护理知识网络(Nursing Knowledge Network,NKN)对不同国家护理院校进行环境扫描调查所收集到的信息。采用在线方式(2021年2-10月)进行环境扫描,探索研究领域的确定、现有资源、预期收益、教学研究创新、知识传播障碍及网络的预期贡献。目标信息提供者包括来自13个国家63所大学的200名护理教师。要求每所大学有1名参与者回答问卷。共有42所大学(约70%)回复,包括巴西21所,加拿大4所,葡萄牙和西班牙各3所,哥伦比亚、墨西哥、秘鲁和美国各2所,智利、意大利和巴拉圭各1所。其分享了相关信息和见解:通过护理高等教育机构之间的协作和交流,全球可以加强共同创新和研究合作能力;较少被研究的领域是知识网络生成证据、为当地科学实践提供信息的潜在重点。这些信息将为进一步了解护理发展,以及地方、区域和全球护理证据应用和传播相关的政府政策与计划制订提供参考。

Introduction: Cryofrequency is a novel therapy which was developed with the combination of cold (cryotherapy) and heat (radiofrequency) application, causing a thermal shock effect on skin tissue. The thermal shock is believed to alter local metabolism. Objective: To investigate the effect of cryofrequency on the skin tissue of a mini pig in an in vitro and in vivo experimental model. Methodology: A small swine of the S. domesticus species, a male mini-pig (30 kg weight) was elected for the in vivo procedure subject. The in vitro step was performed on the extracted abdominal part of another subject of the same species and breed. Then, after the application of cryofrequency in the monopolar and bipolar form in vivo, a histological analysis was performed. Results: A higher temperature variation was observed comparing the pilot study in vitro with respect to the experimental one in vivo. Microscopically, an increase of collagen fibers and blood supply and decreased adipose tissue was observed after cryofrequency application. Conclusion: With the bipolar cryofrequency, no reduction of adipose tissue was observed, but regarding the connective tissue, extensive areas of collagen deposition were observed, as well as a great amount of new-formed collagen fibers.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the acute effect of ingesting ginger infusion on energy metabolism,appetite responses,and food intake in healthy *** is a clinical(RBR-9ZJGQM),randomized,open,and crossover study with a minimum interval of seven days between *** drinks,ginger infusion(2 g)and water(control)were served with a standard *** has 21 volunteers of both sexes(18–40 years old,18.5–26 kg/m2).Consumption of ginger tea increased on average 95.5±27.4 kcal/day the non-nitrogen energy expenditure after 240 min of ingestion(p=0.002).There was a significant effect of ginger on diet-induced thermogenesis(difference between ginger tea treatment ***:113.0±43.0 kcal/day,p=0.016).However,appetitive responses and prospective food intake did not differ between ginger tea and water intake.

Stimulation of the P6 Acupuncture Point for Prophylaxis of Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnant Women Submitted to Cesarean Section: A Blinded Clinical Trial

In pregnant women subjected to spinal anesthesia for a Cesarean section, episodes of nausea and vomiting are common both during and following surgery. Acupuncture for the prophylaxis and treatment of these complications has been gaining in popularity due to its low cost, simplicity, absence of side effects and confirmed efficacy. This study investigated the efficacy of stimulating the P6 acupoint in conjunction with the use of dexamethasone as prophylaxis for nausea and vomiting in pregnant women submitted to spinal anesthesia for a Cesarean section. The patients (n = 100) were randomly distributed into two groups. In the first group (n = 50), a site located one centimeter laterally from P6 was stimulated. This is not a true acupuncture point (sham acupuncture). In the second group (n = 50), P6 was stimulated. In both groups, 4 mg of dexamethasone were administered intravenously. A questionnaire was used to obtain information on the occurrence of nausea and vomiting during surgery and in the first 12 hours postpartum. The chi-square test and Fisher’s exact test were used to assess differences between the groups. Age and physical status were similar in both groups. The incidence of nausea during surgery was 32% (n = 16) in the control group and 22% (n = 11) in the P6 group (p > 0.05). In the first 12 hours following surgery, nausea occurred in 16% of the women in the control group (n = 6) and in 4% in the P6 group (n = 4) (p = 0.045). The incidence of vomiting in the control group was 12% (n = 6) during surgery and 10% (n = 5) in the postoperative period compared to 8% (n = 4) and 4% (n = 2), respectively, in the P6 group (p > 0.05). Although these differences were not statistically significant with the exception of the incidence of nausea in the first 12 hours postpartum, a reduction occurred in the incidence of all the outcomes evaluated in the P6 group.

Background: Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive and neurodegenerative disorder characterized by deterioration of brain functions. Psychosocial interventions such as music and photographic stimuli may contribute to cognitive and sensory exercise or rehabilitation. Objective: Evaluate musical and photographic stimuli in elderly people with Alzheimer’s disease. Methods: It is an uncontrolled clinical trial, before-after type, eleven subjects composing the sample. Participants were submitted to Katz Index, Autobiographical Memory Test, GDS-15, Mini-Mental State Examination. The collection instruments were used on the first and last day of intervention, individually. There were 2 sessions in the week with duration of 50 minutes totaling 20 sessions. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics and as variables expressed as mean standard deviation. Results: There was a significant effect of cognitive activity (P , it was observed that a small advance (P = 0.05) of the daily life activities. With the analysis of GDS-15, it is verified that they are more effective for the increase of the previous self-estimation of the therapy (P = 0.94). In the application of the AMT, it is observed that there was a better recruitment of the memory for the neutral words. Conclusion: Musical and photographic stimuli had a positive effect on the cognitive level, daily life activities and autobiographical memory in seniors with Alzheimer’s disease.

Listening to music, or part of it, may stir the memory of a past moment, along with its associated emotions, such occurrences are known as autobiographical memories. Electroencephalographic (EEG) studies have shown alterations in memory recall and musical processing. However, no research was found showing a relation among music, autobiographical memories and associated emotions. The purpose of this study was to identify cortical areas involved in the evocation of autobiographical memory (associated with positive and negative events) mediated by musical stimuli. For that, gamma rhythm was analyzed through EEG recordings performed by 45 male volunteers while they were submitted to two stimuli: 1) the music capable of recalling memories associated to a positive event;2) the music capable of evoking memories associated to a negative event. Gamma band analysis was used in search of greater brain electrical activity. As results, researchers observed increased activity in right brain hemisphere during the musical processing, besides its hypoactivation when volunteers were submitted to musical stimuli related to memories of negative events.

Tuberculosis is one of the 10 leading causes of death in the world. Its symptoms include fever, malaise, weakness, weight loss, chest pain, cough, expectoration, shortness of breath and sepsis, which is its most frequent complication. Due to these symptoms, many patients with tuberculosis require admission to the Intensive Care Unit, where they usually are placed on mechanical ventilation. Tuberculosis is more prevalent in the population in situations of social and economic vulnerability. The main factors that interfere with adherence to treatment and the prognosis of these patients are the patient’s support network and their socioeconomic status. We present the following report of a long-time smoker patient, with chronic kidney disease and previous treatment for tuberculosis, who was brought to the emergency room due to lowering of the sensorium, and was immediately placed on mechanical ventilation. The tests suggested sepsis with a respiratory focus, so a search for Alcohol-Acid-Resistant Bacillus was carried out, with a positive result. The patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit due to tachycardia and acute respiratory failure. The patient was a smoker with a high tobacco load, chronic kidney disease, in addition to precarious economic, educational and self-care conditions. This report shows that patients with tuberculosis and its complications can be stabilized through known pharmacological treatment. However, the most effective measure to interrupt the transmission of the disease remains the early diagnosis and the provision of adequate treatment, with guidelines aimed at the cessation of harmful habits, such as smoking.
