Use of Patient-Specific “4D” Tele-Education to Enhance Actual and Perceived Knowledge in Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Patients

Background:Patients with congenital heart disease(CHD)will transition to lifelong adult congenital cardiac ***,their structural heart disease is challenging to convey via two-dimensional *** study utilized a tele-educational environment,with personalized three-dimensional(3D)modeling and health Details(3D+Details=“4D”),to improve actual and perceived knowledge,both important components of transition readiness in CHD ***:Participants aged≥13 years with a history of CHD and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging(mRI)studies were *** mRI datasets were then used to segment and create 3D heart models(using mimics,materialize Inc.).Participantsﬁrst completed the myHeart Questionnaire,a validated survey of actual knowledge.A tele-educational session was then scheduled,during which participants were shown a 3D model of a normal heart,followed by their personal 3D heart model and speciﬁc health *** then repeated the actual knowledge survey,in addition to questionnaires assessing perceived knowledge pre-and post-session,as well as a satisfaction ***:Twenty-two patients were *** knowledge increased from 75%±15%to 89%±20%(p=0.00043)and perceived knowledge increased inﬁve of seven *** knowledge correlated with perceived knowledge(r=0.608,pmodel as“very satisfactory”and ninety-ﬁve percent ranked the educational session as“very help-ful”or“extremely helpful.”Conclusions:The use of“4D”tele-education increased both actual and perceived knowledge and may help improve transition readiness in CHD patients.

Development and characterization of 3D-printed electroconductive pHEmA-co-mAA NP-laden hydrogels for tissue engineering

Tissue engineering(TE)continues to be widely explored as a potential solution to meet critical clinical needs for diseased tissue replacement and tissue *** this study,we developed a poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-methacrylic acid)(pHEmA-co-mAA)based hydrogel loaded with newly synthesized conductive poly(3,4-ethylene-dioxythiophene)(PEDOT)and polypyrrole(PPy)nanoparticles(NPs),and subsequently processed these hydrogels into tissue engineered constructs via three-dimensional(3D)*** presence of the NPs was critical as they altered the rheological properties during ***,all samples exhibited suitable shear thinning properties,allowing for the development of an optimized processing window for 3D *** were 3D printed into pre-determined disk-shaped configurations of 2 and 10 mm in height and diameter,*** observed that the NPs disrupted the gel crosslinking efficiencies,leading to shorter degradation times and compressive mechanical properties ranging between 450 and 550 *** conductivity of the printed hydrogels increased along with the NP concentration to(5.10±0.37)×10^(−7)S/*** vitro studies with cortical astrocyte cell cultures demonstrated that exposure to the pHEmA-co-mAA NP hydrogels yielded high cellular viability and proliferation ***,hydrogel antimicrobial studies with staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria revealed that the developed hydrogels affected bacterial *** together,these materials show promise for various TE strategies.

Halide perovskites possess ultra-low thermal conductivity and show high potential for thermoelectric *** chemical properties and molecular structure of halide perovskite materials are not completely stable under ambient conditions,which hinders their use in thermoelectric *** in the properties of bulk halide perovskite thermoelectrics are accompanied by partial phase transitions and surface oxidation *** this paper,we conducted a comprehensive study of the transport and structural properties of CsSnI_(3),which were pristine by vacuum melting followed by spark plasma *** research results on the electrical transport of these materials revealed that exposure to an inert atmosphere does not deteriorate stability and the properties of the materials remain ***,prolonged exposure to air leads to a significant degradation of the electrical transport *** to thin-film samples,the shift to the double perovskite structure from the perovskite one is limited to a specific surface *** change significantly influences the electrical transport of the material while maintaining the essential properties of both perovskite types.

Pediatric inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a chronic inflammatory disorder,with increasing incidence and prevalence *** have been recent advances in imaging and endoscopic technology for disease diagnosis,treatment,and *** ultrasound,including transabdominal,transperineal,and endoscopic,has been emerging for the assessment of transmural bowel inflammation and disease complications(e.g.,fistula,abscess).Aside from surgery,IBD-related intestinal strictures now have endoscopic treatment options including through-the-scope balloon dilatation,injection,and needle knife stricturotomy and new evaluation tools such as endoscopic functional lumen imaging *** transnasal endoscopy may have a role in patients with upper gastrointestinal Crohn’s disease or those with IBD with new upper gastrointestinal *** to dysplasia screening in pediatric patients with longstanding colonic disease or primary sclerosing cholangitis hold promise with the addition of virtual chromoendoscopy and ongoing research in the field of artificial intelligence-assisted endoscopic *** intelligence and machine learning is a rapidly evolving field,with goals of further personalizing IBD diagnosis and treatment selection as well as *** review summarized these advancements,focusing on pediatric patients with IBD.

magnesium is an excellent material in terms of biocompatibility and its corrosion products can serve as an active source for new bone ***,localized corrosion and H_(2)generation limit the potential of mg-based *** low-alloyed mg-Zn wires can strongly reduce problems with large H_(2)bubbles and improve the mechanical properties considerably while maintaining excellent long-term *** pickling and a polymer coating can be effectively used to lower the rate of in vivo *** this work,microstructural,mechanical,and in vitro characterization of 250μm and 300μm extruded wires made from ultra-pure mg,commercially pure mg,mg-0.15Zn,mg-0.4Zn and mg-1Zn was ***,mg-0.4Zn wires together with a variant coated with a copolymer of L-lactide andε-caprolactone were tested in vivo on artificially damaged Wistar rat *** on the observed mg-induced osteogenesis,polymer-coated mg wires with a small addition of Zn are a perspective material for bone-support applications,such as cerclage and fixation wires.
