Dietary nano chromium picolinate can ameliorate some of the impacts of heat stress in cross-bred sheep

two studies were conducted to evaluate the effect of nano chromium picolinate(nCrPic)during heat stress(HS)in *** the initial study,36 Merino×Poll cross-bred sheep were individually penned and allocated to 3 dietary treatments(0,400 and 800μg/kg nCrPic)for 8 *** composition was determined at the beginning and end of the experiment using dual energy X-ray *** sheep remained in their dietary groups but were then placed in metabolic cages and randomly allocated within the dietary group to differing ambient temperature regimes,i.e.,thermo-neutral(tN)(n=18)and HS(n=18),for 3 *** nCrPic had no effect on growth performance and body composition during the initial study conducted under tN *** stress decreased average daily feed intake(ADFI)(P=0.002)whereas sheep under HS had reduced average daily gain(ADG)and indeed lost weight(Ptary nCrPic increased both ADFI(P=0.041)and ADG(P=0.049)under both tH and HS conditions such that the performance of sheep receiving supplemental nCrPic and exposed to HS was similar to that of control sheep maintained under tN *** stress increased rectal temperature(Ption rate(Pticularly during the hottest parts of the day as indicated by interactions(Ptween time of day and thermal *** temperature was lower in sheep fed nCrPic(P=0.050),particularly under peak HS conditions during the afternoon as indicated by the interactions between dietary nCrPic and time of day(Ptary nCrPic,thermal treat-ment and time of day(P=0.010).Similarly,respiration rate was lower in sheep fed nCrPic under peak HS conditions during the afternoon as indicated by the interactions between dietary nCrPic and thermal treatment(Ptary nCrPic and time of day(P=0.030).In conclusion,dietary nCrPic can partially ameliorate the negative effects of HS as indicated by the maintenance of ADFI and decreased physiological responses,such as elevatio

this study evaluated the effects of heat stress(HS)and dietary nano chromium picolinate(nCrPic)on metabolic responses of sheep to an intravenous glucose tolerance test(IVGtt),an intravenous insulin tolerance test(Itt)and an intramuscular adrenocorticotropin hormone(ACtH)challenge in ***-six sheep housed in metabolic cages were randomly allocated within 3 dietary groups(0,400 and 800 mg/kg supplemental nCrPic)to either thermoneutral(22℃)or cyclic HS(22 to 40℃)conditions for 3 *** plasma glucose tended to be increased during HS(P=0.052)and decreased by dietary nCrPic(P=0.013)while plasma non-esterified fatty acid concentrations were decreased(P=0.010)by ***-etary nCrPic reduced the plasma glucose area under the curve(P=0.012)while there were no significant effects of HS on plasma glucose area under the curve in response to the *** plasma insulin response over the first 60 min after the IVGtt was decreased by HS(P=0.013)and dietary nCrPic(P=0.022)with the effects being *** response to the Itt plasma glucose reached a nadir sooner(P=0.005)in sheep exposed to HS,although there was no effect on the depth of the *** nCrPic decreased(P=0.007)the plasma glucose nadir after *** the duration of the Itt plasma insulin concentrations were lower in sheep exposed to HS(P=0.013)whereas there was no significant effect of supplemental *** was no effect of either HS or nCrPic on cortisol response to *** nCrPic supple-mentation decreased(P=0.013)mitogen-activated protein kinase-8(JNK)and increased(P=0.050)carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1B(CPt1B)mRNA expression in skeletal *** of this experiment demonstrated that animals under HS and supplemented with nCrPic had greater insulin sensitivity.

Background: Maize oil is abundantly used in foods and feeds and is highly susceptible to oxidation. Consequently,commercially available antioxidants should be evaluated for effectiveness against lipid oxidation in swine diets. Our study was conducted to evaluate growth performance of nursery pigs fed oxidized maize oil and to determine effects of using antioxidants on oxidative status in a 2 × 2 factorial design. two hundred eight weaned pigs were blocked by initial BW into 13 blocks, resulting in 4 pigs per pen and 13 pens per treatment. Dietary treatments included 6% unoxidized or oxidized maize oil, and 0 or 60 mg/kg of tert-butylhydroquinone(tBHQ), which was added after lipid oxidation. Data for growth performance were collected from 5 time periods of a two-phase feeding program(Phase 1 = d 0 to 12 and Phase 2 = d 13 to 34). Serum and liver samples were collected from one pig per pen, which had initial BW closest to average BW to determine oxidative status on d ***: Oxidized maize oil was heated for 12 h at 185 °C with 12 L/min of air, yielding a peroxide value(PV) of 5.98 m Eq O2/kg and tBARS of 0.11 mg MDA eq/g. Addition of tBHQ to diets containing oxidized maize oil decreased PV by 37% and increased the oil stability index by 69%. Final BW, ADG, ADFI, and G:F of pigs were not different among the four dietary treatments. However, pigs fed oxidized maize oil tended(P to increase hepatosomatic index by 5% compared with those fed unoxidized oil, and this was not affected by adding *** serum vitamin E concentration of pigs fed oxidized maize oil was less(P than pigs fed unoxidized oil,but this reduction was not reversed by adding tBHQ. Finally, the serum and liver selenium concentration were not different among the ***: the addition of tBHQ did not affect growth performance and vitamin E status in pigs fed moderately oxidized maize oil, but tBHQ reduced lipid oxidation, enhanced the oil stability, and appeared to redu

Solar Photocatalytic Degradation of textile Dyes in tiO_2 Suspended Solutions

the degradation and decolourization of direct dye(Everdirect supra turguoise blue,FBL),acidic dye(Isolan orange S-RL) and vat dye(Indanthren red FBB) have been investigated by solar/tiO2 *** effects of solution pH,dye concentration,dosage of tiO2 and nano-size of tiO2 have been *** increase in initial pH(3,5 and 11) and dye concentration decrease the removal *** treatment for FBB and FBL dye solutions is more efficient than that of *** optimum conditions,the color removal is found to be almost complete for FBB and FBL while that of S-RL also reaches 95%.Langmuir adsorption isotherm and modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model(L-H model) have been fitted to the experimental data and found to correlate the adsorption patterns as well as the kinetics of the dyes studied.

In the framework of the 3-3-1 model with neutral leptons,we investigate lepton-flavor-violating sources based on the Higgs mass spectrum,which has two neutral Higgs identified with the corresponding ones of the two-Higgs-doublet *** note that at the 13teV scale of the LHC,the parameter space regions satisfy the experimental limits of e_(i)→e_(j)γ*** regions depend heavily on the mixing of exotic leptons but are predicted to have large h_(1)^(0)→μτ*** also show that Br(h_(1)^(0)→μτ)can reach a value of 10^(-4).

Charles taylor criticizes many liberal theories based on a kind of atomism that assumes the individual self-sufficiency outside the *** not only causes soft-relativism and political fragmentation but also undermines the solidarity of the community,that is,the very condition of the formation of autonomous *** thus argues for communitarian politics which protects certain cultural common goods for sustaining the solidarity of the ***,Brenda Lyshaug criticizes taylor’s communitarianism as suppressing plurality and enhancing hostility among cultural *** the face of such controversies,I argue for modern Confucian familism which emphasizes the family as a common good that provides a safe,stable,and nurturing environment for nurturing children and cultivating civility for future generations with a sense of community and autonomy.I also defend Confucian familism from four possible criticisms:insufficiency of familism,hierarchical relationship in the family,the danger of nepotism,and challenge from postmodern families.I argue that unlike traditional Confucianism,modern moderation of the Confucian family can greatly reduce the hierarchical problem;its emphasis on the family as one of the foundations of politics can avoid the danger of being atomistic liberalism and suppressive communitarianism.

this study demonstrates the influence of the Ag^(+)/PO_(4)^(3-)ratio in precursor solution on the crystal structural formation,morphology,physical properties,and photocatalytic performance of a Ag_(3)PO_(4)photocatalyst that is fabricated,using a facile precipitation method,from AgNO_(3)and Na2HPO_(4)·12H_(2)*** material characterizations were carried out using x-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX),Brunauer–Emmett–teller(BEt)surface area,Fourier transform infrared(FtIR)absorption,Raman scattering,x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),UV-vis absorption,and photoluminescence(PL).the results show that Ag_(3)PO_(4)crystallizes better when the excess PO_(4)^(3-)content increases,and the lattice parameters decrease slightly,while the crystal diameter and the particle size *** change is also observed in the Raman scattering and FtIR spectra with the increase in the vibration frequency of the[PO_(4)]*** compression of the[PO_(4)]unit was also confirmed in the XPS spectra with the shift of P 2p peaks toward higher binding *** photocatalytic results showed that the samples synthesized from excess PO_(4)^(3-)solution exhibited higher photocatalytic performance compared to the sample with a Ag^(+)/PO_(4)^(3-)ratio of 3:1.A sample prepared from the precursor solution with a Ag^(+)/PO_(4)^(3-)ratio of 3:1.5 was optimal for RhB decomposition under both visible light and natural sunlight,completely decomposing 10 ppm RhB after 15 minutes of xenon lamp irradiation and after 60 minutes under solar light *** is attributed to the high crystallinity,small particle size and low electron–hole recombination rate of the sample.

Wall shear-stress extraction by an optical flow algorithm with a sub-grid formulation

In this study,we developed a novel optical-flow algorithm for determining the wall shear-stress on the surface of *** algorithm solves the thin-oil-film equation using a numerical scheme that recovers local features neglected by smoothing filters.A variational formulation with a smoothness constraint was applied to extract the global shear-stress *** algorithm was then applied to scalar images generated using direct numerical simulation(DNS)method,which revealed that the errors were smaller than those of conventional *** application of the proposed algorithm to recover the wall shear-stress on a low-aspect-ratio wing and on an axisymmetric boattail model taken as examples in this study showed a strong potential for analysing shear-stress *** to the methods used in previous studies,proposed method reveals more local features of separation line and singular points on object surface.

It is generally accepted that perpendicular magnetic anisotropy(PMA)magnets are preferred over in-plane magnetic anisotropy(IMA)magnets in data storage applications owing to their large thermal stability even at ultra-scaled *** efficiently and deterministically switch a PMA,out-of-plan spin current is ***,conventional giant spin Hall effect(GSHE)materials only produce spin currents with in-plane *** work,on the other hand,demonstrated for the first time that out-of-plane spin currents can indeed be generated by applying electric filed to monolayer WSe2 at room temperature and the spin information was detected by a graphene *** by theoretical calculations,we found that the interfacial polarization between graphene and WSe2 to be^38%assuming the ferromagnetic detector's polarization efficiency to be^4%.Moreover,the spin polarization is determined by the polarity of the applied electric field.

Huntington’s disease (HD)(OMIM 143100) is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder caused by a monogenic mutation in the huntingtin gene (Htt),which induces typical midlife onset and age-dependent progression with major symptoms including choreic movements,psychiatric disorders,and cognitive impairment(Gusella et al.,2021).After the 1993 discovery of a pathogenic expansion of the CAG trinucleotide repeat beyond 35 in Htt exon 1 as a causative factor for HD,many animal,mammalian cell and yeast models expressing mutant Htt (mHtt) with abnormal CAG repeats have been created to study CAG repeat-induced toxicity (Naphade et al.,2019;Gusella et al.,2021).
