Locoregional treatments,as alternatives to surgery,play a key role in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Liver magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)enables a multiparametric assessment,going beyond the traditional dynamic computed tomography ***,the use of hepatobiliary agents can improve diagnostic accuracy and are becoming important in the diagnosis and follow-up of ***,the main challenge is to quickly identify classical responses to loco-regional treatments in order to determine the most suitable management strategy for each *** aim of this review is to provide a summary of the most common and uncommon liver MRI findings in patients who underwent loco-regional treatments for HCC,with a special focus on ablative therapies(radiofrequency,microwaves and cryoablation),transarterial chemoembolization,trans-arterial radio-embolization and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy techniques,considering the usefulness of gadoxetate disodium(Gd-EOB-DTPA)contrast agent.

Despite the good prognosis of the vast majority of breast cancer cases,about 10%is firstly diagnosed with stage IV,while 20-30%of localized disease treated with curative intent will eventually relapse(1).Hepatic metastases are the third site of relapse,after lymph-nodes and bone,but,due to the early systemic nature of breast cancer,rarely the recurrence is liver-limited.

The emulation of characteristics of a different organism to gain biological advantage is a common phenomenon in nature,described and defined with the term"mimicry"in the second half of the 19th *** the last decades,mimicry at molecular level has been evidenced as a method used by several pathogen microrganisms to control metabolic functions of infected cells and elude host’s immune *** of molecular mimicry,immune reactions against microbial molecules can turn against the mimicked self-molecules in predisposed subjects,leading to *** pathogenic mechanism,which gives a possible explanation for the specific epidemiological and chronological association between some infections and some autoimmune diseases,is well known and verified in many fields of medicine,but not adequately studied in dermatology:experimental data are available only for leprosy,atopic dermatitis,Beh?et’s disease,Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome and systemic erythematous lupus,while for few other diseases its role is hypothetical or suggested on the basis of single,small experiments or anecdotal *** overview of available data and hypotheses about the role of molecular mimicry in autoimmune cutaneous diseases is presented here,together with the perspectives offered by the use of bioinformatics and the personal experi-ence of the author in this field.

In this paper we show how it can be useful to the probability of intersections in the determination of a classification rule for raster conversions in Geographical Information System(GIS)and GRASS GIS for the Road Network Analysis(RNA).We use a geometric probabilities approach for irregular path considering these results for transportation planning *** study two particular problems with irregular tessellations,in order to have a situation more realistic respect to map GIS and considering also the maximum value of probability to narrow the range of possible probability values.

Extractive orthopaedic treatment to compensate for skeletal Class III in preadolescents

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of extractive or-thopaedic orthodontic treatment in mixed late denti-tion in two female patients presenting Class III mal-occlusion and hyperdivergent facial types due to maxillary retrusion. Materials and Methods: The or- thopaedic phase, carried out using posteroanterior extraoral traction combined with rapid palatal ex-panders, was followed by extraction of four premo-lars and application of bidimensional technique fixed appliances (Boston University). Results: We achieved functional and aesthetic improvement via normalisa-tion of the transversal dimensions and a sagittal in-crease in the maxilla while maintaining vertical sta-bility. The extractions permitted resolution of the crowding problem and normalisation of the overbite and overjet, and Class I molar and canine occlusion was achieved. Conclusions: Timely intervention and exploitation of extractive space to compensate for skeletal alterations using only orthopaedic orthodon-tic treatment can allow achievement of excellent re-sults.

Depression profiles in skin disorders

Introduction: Dermatological problems often present mood disorders, depression, anxiety disorders and psychological conditions relevant to psychosomatic conditions. Seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis, both characterized by chronic inflammation of skin, have been linked to emotional states. The aim of our study was to compare the two emotional profiles of patients with seborrheic dermatitis and psoriasis, in order to evaluate, quantitatively and qualitatively, the emotional picture in the two groups of disease. Methods: The study group included 33 patients affected by seborrheic dermatitis (21 males and 12 females, age range 18 - 67 years, mean age 39.85 ± 15.45 years) and 36 other patients affected by psoriasis (22 males and 14 females, age range 18 - 67 years, mean age 41.11 ± 13.72 years). The protocol included clinical assessment of the skin disorder and psychological assessment of emotional profile using the test Profile of Mood States (POMS) and the Toronto Alexithymia Scale TAS-20. An exploratory factorial analysis was carried out for the POMS factor D (depression) to evaluate the composition of the items found in the two types of skin disorders. Results: The comparison between patients with psoriasis and patients with seborrheic dermatitis in relation to the TAS score and the different aspects of mood and showed a significant difference concerning factor D (depression) of the POMS. Conclusions: This study shows the correlation between depression and two skin disorders, seborrhoeic dermatitis and psoriasis. In both cases, the clinical picture falls under the definition of “depression due to a general medical condition”. However, qualitative differences make the psychologic frame of psoriatic patients close to that of “major depression”, while in patients affected by seborrheic dermatitis the psychologic frame is more similar to that of “minor depression” (DSM IV).
