Resorting to recent results on subperiodic trigonometric quadrature,we provide three product Gaussian quadrature formulas exact on algebraic polynomials of degree n on circular lunes.The first works on any lune,and has n^(2)+O(n)cardinality.The other two have restrictions on the lune angular intervals,but their cardinality is n^(2)/2+O(n).

Background:Marginal changes in the execution of competitive sports movements can represent a significant change for performance success.However,such differences may emerge only at certain execution intensities and are not easily detectable through conventional biomechanical techniques.This study aimed to investigate if and how competition standard and progression speed affect race walking kinematics from both a conventional and a coordination variability perspective.Methods:Fifteen experienced athletes divided into three groups(elite,international,and national) were studied while race walking on a treadmill at two different speeds(12.0 and 15.5 km/h).Basic gait parameters,the angular displacement of the pelvis and lower limbs,and the variability in continuous relative phase between six different joint couplings were analyzed.Results:Most of the spatio-temporal,kinematic,and coordination variability measures proved sensitive to the change in speed.Conversely,non-linear dynamics measures highlighted differences between athletes of different competition standard when conventional analytical tools were not able to discriminate between different skill levels.Continuous relative phase variability was higher for national level athletes than international and elite in two couplings(pelvis obliquity—hip flex/extension and pelvis rotation—ankle dorsi/plantarflexion) and gait phases(early stance for the first coupling,propulsive phase for the second) that are deemed fundamental for correct technique and performance.Conclusion:Measures of coordination variability showed to be a more sensitive tool for the fine detection of skill-dependent factors in competitive race walking,and showed good potential for being integrated in the assessment and monitoring of sports motor abilities.

BACKGROUND Fetal hydrops is a serious condition difficult to manage,often with a poor prognosis,and it is characterized by the collection of fluid in the extravascular compartments.Before 1968,the most frequent cause was the maternal-fetal Rh incompatibility.Today,90%of the cases are non-immune hydrops fetalis.Multiple fetal anatomic and functional disorders can cause non-immune hydrops fetalis and the pathogenesis is incompletely understood.Etiology varies from viral infections to heart disease,chromosomal abnormalities,hematological and autoimmune causes.CASE SUMMARY A 38-year-old pregnant woman has neck lymphoadenomegaly,fever,cough,tonsillar plaques at 14 wk of amenorrhea and a rash with widespread itching.At 27.5 wk a fetal ultrasound shows signs of severe anemia and hydrops.Cordocentesis is performed with confirmation of severe fetal anemia and subsequent fetal transfusion.The karyotype is 46,XX,array-comparative genome hybridization(CGH)negative,and infectious tests are not conclusive.In the following days there is a progressive improvement of the indirect signs of fetal anemia.At 33.6 wk,for relapse of severe fetal anemia,further fetal transfusions are necessary and an urgent cesarean section is performed.On the day 12 of life,for the detection of anemia,the newborn is subjected to transfusion of concentrated red blood cells and begins treatment with erythropoietin.Later there is a normalization of blood chemistry values and the baby does not need new transfusions.A 29-year-old pregnant woman,with Sjogren's syndrome and positive Anti-Ro/SSA antibodies,is subjected to serial fetal ecocardio for branch block.At 26.5 wk there is a finding of fetal ascites.Infectious disease tests on amniotic fluid are negative as well as quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction,Array CGH.At cordocentesis Hb is 1.3 mmol/L,consequently fetal transfusion is performed.Also in this case,due to continuous episodes of relapse of fetal anemia with consequent transfusions,at 29.4 wk a cesarean section is performed.On day 9

The development of more sensitive diagnostic tools allowing an early-stage and highly efficient medical imaging of tumors remains a challenge. Magnetic nanoparticles seem to be the contrast agents with the highest potential, if properly constructed. Therefore, in this study, hybrid magnetic nanoarchitectures were developed using a new amphiphilic inulin-based graft copolymer (INU-LAPEG-FA) as coating material for 10-nm spinel iron oxide (magnetite, Fe3O4) superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SPION). Folic acid (FA) covalently linked to the coating copolymer in order to be exposed onto the nanoparticle surface was chosen as the targeting agent because folate receptors are upregulated in many cancer types. Physicochemical characterization and in vitro biocompatibility study was then performed on the prepared magnetic nanoparticles. The improved targeting and imaging properties of the prepared FA-SPIONs were further evaluated in nude mice using 7-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). FA-SPIONs exhibited the ability to act as efficient contrast agents in conventional MRI, providing a potential nanoplatform not only for tumor diagnosis but also for cancer treatment, through the delivery of anticancer drug or locoregional magnetic hyperthermia.

Xanthogranulomas(XG) are benign proliferative disorder of histiocytes, a non-Langerhans cell histiocytosis. Whose etiology is unknown. The nature of these lesions is controversial and could be either reactive or neoplastic;the presence of monoclonal cells does, however, favor the second hypothesis. Xanthogranuloma is frequently found in young adults and children(under 20 years old), mainly in the skin. In about 5%-10% of all Juvenile XG(JXG) cases xanthogranuloma are extracutaneous. Within this group, the site most frequently involved is the eye. Other involved organs are heart, liver, adrenals, oropharynx, lung, spleen, central nervous system and subcutaneous tissue, although involvement of the spine is uncommon. Isolated lesions involving the sacral region are extremely rare. To date, this is the first reported case of a giant JXG arising from S1 with extension into the pelvic region in an adult spine.

We present a study of the spectral line shape associated with a High Resolution Spectrograph on the 2.16 m telescope at the Xinglong Observing Station of National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This measurement is based on modeling the instrumental line shape obtained by unresolved modes from a Yb-fiber mode-locked laser frequency comb. With the current repetition rate of 250 MHz and 26 GHz mode spacing on the spectrograph, we find the absolute variation of the line center, 0.0597 pixel in the direction of the CCDs, and 0.00275 pixel （～3 m s^-1） for relative variation in successive exposures on a short timescale. A novel double-Gaussian model is presented to improve the quality of the fit by a factor of 2.47 in a typical single exposure. We also use analysis with raw moments and central moments to characterize the change in line shape across the detector. A trend in charge transfer efficiency can be found on the E2V 4096 ×4096 CCD that provides a correction for wavelength calibration aiming to reach a level of precision for radial velocity below 1 m s^- 1.

Frequent Applications of Organic Matter to Agricultural Soil Increase Fungistasis

Soil-borne plant pathogens are among the most important limiting factors for the productivity of agro-ecosystems.Fungistasis is the natural capability of soils to inhibit the germination and growth of soil-borne fungi in the presence of optimal abiotic conditions.The objective of this study was to assess the effects of different soil managements,in terms of soil amendment types and frequency of application,on fungistasis.For this purpose,a microcosm experiment was performed by conditioning a soil with frequent applications of organic matter with contrasting biochemical quality(i.e.,glucose,alfalfa straw and wheat straw).Thereafter,the fungistasis response was assessed on four fungi(Aspergillus niger,Botrytis cinerea,Pyrenochaeta lycopersici and Trichoderma harzianum).Conditioned soils were characterized by measuring microbial activity(soil respiration) and functional diversity using the BIOLOG EcoPlates^(?)method.Results showed that irrespective of the fungal species and amendment types,frequent applications of organic matter reduced fungistasis relief and shortened the time required for fungistasis restoration.The frequent addition of easily decomposable organic compounds enhanced soil respiration and its specific catabolic capabilities.This study demonstrated that frequent applications of organic matter affected soil fungistasis likely as a result of higher microbial activity and functional diversity.

Background:Fagus sylvatica forms the treeline across the Apennines mountain range,with an average elevation of 1589 ma.s.l.Previous studies evidenced that the current position of the treeline in the Apennines is heavily depressed as a result of a complex interaction between climatic factors and the past human pressure.In this study we correlated treeline elevation in the fifteen major mountain groups in the Apennines with selected climatic,geomorphological,and human disturbance variables in order to investigate in detail the site-specific features affecting the current treeline distribution.Results:Treeline elevation was lowest in the North Italy(Apuan Alps),while the highest treeline was found in Central Italy(Simbruini).An absolute maximum treeline elevation of F.sylvatica exceeding 2000ma.***.l.was found on 13 mountain peaks in Central and Southern Italy.Noteworthy,treeline elevation was largely lower on warmer south-facing slopes compared to northern slopes,with values several hundred meters lower in the Gran Sasso and Velino-Sirente.Although the causes of this pattern are still unknown,we argue that treeline elevation on southfacing slopes may be limited by the combination of climatic constraints(i.***.summer drought)and human disturbance.Evidence of a pervasive anthropogenic effect depressing treeline elevation was found in the North(Apuan Alps)Central(Gran Sasso,Velino-Sirente,Sibillini)and Southern part of Apennines(Pollino).By contrast,treeline elevation of the Laga,Simbruini,and Orsomarso mountain groups appears less affected by past anthropogenic disturbance.Finally,we recorded in the several mountain groups(i.e.Majella,Marsicani and Pollino)the coexistence of very depressed treelines just a few kilometers away from much higher treelines,among the highest ever recorded for F.sylvatica.Conclusions:Finally,we argue that F.sylvatica treeline across the Apennines is locally shaped both by the interaction of low temperatures experienced by the species in its earliest life stages in snow-free open spaces with su

Focal epithelial hyperplasia(FEH), or Heck's disease, is a rare disease of the oral mucosa; it is mostly found in children or young adults who are immunosuppressed and who live in regions with low socioeconomic status. It is characterized by asymptomatic papules on the oral mucosa, gingiva, tongue, and lips. Healing can be spontaneous, and treatment is indicated if there are aesthetic or functional complications. Human papillomavirus, especially genotypes 13 and 32, has been associated with FEH and is detected in the majority of lesions. Histopathologically, FEH is characterized by parakeratosis, epithelial hyperplasia, focal acanthosis, and fusion and horizontal outgrowth of epithelial ridges. A 37-year-old male patient was referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Sciences at the Sapienza University of Rome, complaining of numerous exophytic lesions in his mouth. He stated that the lesions were not painful but he had experienced occasional bleeding after incidental masticatory trauma. He had received no previous treatment for the oral lesions. His medical history revealed that he was human immuno-deficiencyvirus positive and was a smoker with numerous, asymptomatic oral papules clinically and histologically corresponding to FEH. The labial and buccal mucosa were especially affected by lesions. Surgical treatment was performed using a 532-nm potassium titanyl phosphate laser(SmartLite, Deka, Florence, Italy) in continuous mode with a 300 μm fiber and power of 1.4 W(power density 1980.22 W/cm2). After anesthesia without vasoconstrictors, the lesions were tractioned with sutures or an Allis clamp and then completely excised. The lesions were preserved in 10% formalin for histological examination, which confirmed the clinical diagnosis of FEH. In this case, the laser allowed excellent control of bleeding, without postoperative sutures, and optimal wound healing.
