Septic arthritis of the hand is a serious disease that often results in dysfunction of the joint or even the need to perform amputation of the *** rank second in the frequency of occurrence after lesions of the knee *** points concerning the etiology,the timing of the development of cartilage destruction and the development of osteomyelitis,approaches to surgical treatment,the duration of antibiotic therapy,and the start of rehabilitation measures remain the subject of numerous *** on a search in the PubMed,Web of Science and Google Scholar databases down to 1990-2021,publications on septic arthritis of the hand were found and *** following inclusion criteria were used in our review:(1) Septic arthritis of the hand;(2) Published in a peer review journal;(3) Written in English;and(4) Full text version *** were excluded if they met any of the following criteria:(1) Letters;(2) Articles published in abstract form only;and(3) Cadaveric *** arthritis of the hand was characterized by the most frequent damage to the joints of the index and middle fingers(> 50% of cases).Up to 90% of cases,the infection enters the joint as a result of penetrating trauma,animal bites,*** aureus became the most frequently isolated microorganism(30%-55%),and its polyantibiotic-resistant form Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was found,according to various sources,from 0% to 73% among all isolated Staphylococcus *** arthritis,Pasteurella multocida(6%-11%) is often isolated as a result of animal *** cartilage destruction in the experiment developed within 24-48 h after *** clinical studies,the development of osteomyelitis was noted when treatment was delayed by more than 10 d.X-ray data during the first two weeks were *** of surgical treatment of septic *** and surgical treatment,and with the development of osteomyelitis,the implementation of arthro

The severity of septic arthritis of the hand and the prospects for restoration of joint function are determined by a complex of factors. Among them, the leading role belongs to local changes in tissue structures. This includes the destruction of articular cartilage and bone tissue with the development of osteomyelitis, the involvement of paraarticular soft tissues in the purulent process, and the destruction of the flexor/extensor tendons of the fingers. The currently missing specialized classification of septic arthritis could help in systematizing the diseases, determining treatment tactics, and predicting the results of *** classification of septic arthritis of the hand proposed for discussion is based on the following principle: Joint-Wound-Tendon(Jx Wx Tx);Jx characterizes damage to the osteochondral structures of the joint, Wx is the presence of paraarticular purulent wounds or fistulas, and Tx is destruction of the flexor/extensor tendons of the finger. The classification of the diagnosis makes it possible to assess the nature and severity of damage to the structures of the joint and may also be useful when comparing the results of treatment of septic arthritis of the hand.

Comparing the Structural Parameters of the Milky Way to Other Spiral Galaxies

The structural parameters of a galaxy can be used to gain insight into its formation and evolution *** this paper,we strive to compare the Milky Way’s structural parameters to other,primarily edge-on,spiral galaxies in order to determine how our Galaxy measures up to the Local *** our comparison,we use the galaxy structural parameters gathered from a variety of literature sources in the optical and near-infrared wave *** compare the scale length,scale height,and disk flatness for both the thin and thick disks,the thick-to-thin disk mass ratio,the bulge-to-total luminosity ratio,and the mean pitch angle of the Milky Way’s spiral arms to those in other *** conclude that many of the Milky Way’s structural parameters are largely ordinary and typical of spiral galaxies in the Local Universe,though the Galaxy’s thick disk appears to be appreciably thinner and less extended than expected from zoom-in cosmological simulations of Milky Way-mass galaxies with a significant contribution of galaxy mergers involving satellite galaxies.

We report on the novel heterometallic quaternary selenide EuCeCuSe3,the fabrication of which has been a challenge until this *** structure of the reported selenide was elucidated from the powder X-ray diffraction data,which revealed the formation of EuCeCuSe3with excellent yield(96.7%)accompanied with a minor fraction of CeSe2(3.3%),and was best solved in orthorhombic space group Pnma with the BaLaCuS3structural ***,the crystal structure of the title compound completes the row of the heterometallic quaternary selenides EuRECuSe3(RE=La,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,dy,Ho,Er,Tm,Yb,Lu,Y),of which the cerium-based derivative exclusively belongs to the BaLaCuS3structural *** distortion of the CuSe4polyhedron was compared for the whole series of EuRECuSe3compounds using theτ4-descriptor for four coordinated ions,which revealed the highest degree of distortion for the Ce3+-containing selenide,followed by the La3+-based ***,the crystallographic and geometrical parameters of the reported selenide were discussed in comparison to the Ce3+-based sulfides SrCeCuS3and *** initio calculations of the crystal structure,a phonon spectrum and elastic constants for the crystal of EuCeCuSe3were also *** types and wavenumbers of fundame ntal modes were determined and the involvement of ions participating in the phonon modes was *** experimental IR spectrum of the reported selenide was interpreted and found to be in agreement with the calculated *** experimental direct band gap of EuCeCuSe3was measured to be 1.36 eV that is consistent with the concept of its origin due to interband transitions between orbitals emerging mainly from 4f(valence band)and 5d(conduction band)levels of the Eu2+*** dependence of the Young’s modulus on the direction demonstrates the anisotropy of the elastic properties,while the Vickers hardness for EuCeCuSe3was calculated to be 5.2 ***,the title compound is paramagnetic above 4 K.

The emergence of van der Waals(vdW)materials resulted in the discovery of their high optical,mechanical,and electronic anisotropic properties,immediately enabling countless novel phenomena and *** success inspired an intensive search for the highest possible anisotropic properties among vdW ***,the identification of the most promising among the huge family of vdW materials is a challenging quest requiring innovative ***,we suggest an easy-to-use method for such a survey based on the crystallographic geometrical perspective of vdW materials followed by their optical *** our approach,we found As2S3 as a highly anisotropic vdW *** demonstrates high in-plane optical anisotropy that is~20%larger than for rutile and over two times as large as calcite,high refractive index,and transparency in the visible range,overcoming the century-long record set by *** these benefits,As2S3 opens a pathway towards nextgeneration nanophotonics as demonstrated by an ultrathin true zero-order quarter-wave plate that combines classical and the Fabry–Pérot optical phase ***,our approach provides an effective and easy-to-use method to find vdW materials with the utmost anisotropic properties.

Chlorine Analysis by diode Laser Atomic Absorption Spectrometry

The general characteristics of diode Laser Absorption Spectrometry (dLAAS) in low pressure plasmas particulary with respect to the detection of non metals are comprehensively recapitulated and discussed. Furthermore, a detector, which is based on dLAAS in a microwave induced low pressure plasma as an alternative technique for halogene specific analysis of volatile compounds and polymeric matrices is described. The analytical capability of the technique is demonstrated on the chlorine specific analysis of ablated polymer fragments as well as gas chromatographically separated hydrocarbons. Since the measurements were carried out by means of a balanced heterodyne detection scheme, different technical noise contributions, such as laser excess and RAM noise could efficiently be suppressed and the registered absorption was limited only by the principal shot noise. Thus, in the case of the polymer analysis a chlorine specific absolute detection limit of 10 pg could be achieved. Furthermore, fundamental investigations concerning the influence of hydrocarbons on the dissociation capability of the microwave induced plasma were performed. For this purpose, the carbon , chlorine and hydrogen specific stoichiometry of the compounds were empirically determined. deviations from the exspected proportions were found to be insignificant, implying the possibility of internal standardization relative to the response of a reference sample.

The phase transformation and magnetic hysteresis properties of melt-spun Fe41 Pd41 B8 Si6 P4 ribbons subjected to the annealing at temperatures of 500-550℃were studied after holding for 0.1-60.0 h by transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRd)and thermomagnetic *** additions of P,B and Si to the FePd alloy allowed us to achieve the coercivity of124 kA·m-1,which is 2.6 times higher than that of the melt-spun ribbons of the binary equiatomic FePd *** high-coercivity Fe41Pd41B8 Si6 P4 alloy is nanocrystalline and is composed of the ordered L10-phase grains approximately 40 nm in size and inclusions of the Fe2(P,B)and Pd2(Si,B)*** coercivity kinetics is controlled by the phase transformation which can be divided into three stages:transformation from the bcc structure to nanosized regions of the fee and Fe2 P phases;transformation from the fee to L10 nanosized regions with somewhat different degrees of tetragonality and their ordering;and extensive growth of the weight fraction of L10 phase from the fee nanosized regions.P and B atoms occupy interstitial sites in the iron plane of L10 lattice,thus decreasing its Curie temperature(TC).
