Heat stress induced by long periods of high ambient temperature decreases animal productivity,leading to heavy economic *** devastating situation for livestock production is even becoming worse under the present climate change *** focused to breed animals with better thermotolerance and climatic resilience are keenly sought these days to mitigate impacts of heat stress especially in high input livestock production *** 70-kDa heat shock proteins(HsP70) are a protein family known for its potential role in thermo-tolerance and widely considered as cellular ***70 function as molecular chaperons and have major roles in cellular thermotolerance,apoptosis,immune-modulation and heat *** of HsP70 is controlled by various factors such as,intracellular pH,cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cyclic AMP),protein kinase C and intracellular free calcium,*** expression of HsP70 has been observed under oxidative stress leading to scavenging of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species and protection of pulmonary endothelial barrier against bacterial *** in flanking and promoter regions in HsP70 gene have shown association with heat tolerance,weaning weight,milk production,fertility and disease susceptibility in *** review provides insight into pivotal roles of HsP70 which make it an ideal candidate genetic marker for selection of animals with better climate resilience,immune response and superior performance.

The reproductive potential of overwintering boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis grandis （Boheman）, females collected from pheromone traps in september, november and January, fed for 1, 3, and 5 weeks on plant pollens, and then provided cotton squares, was determined in the laboratory at 27 ~ I^C, 65% rH, and a photoperiod 13 ： 11 （L ： D） h. Duration of pollen feeding by overwintering boll weevils did not significantly influence egg and feeding punctures, or puncture ratios （egg to total punctures） for any of the three months of parent weevil collections when provided cotton squares on a daily basis. However, punctures and puncture ratios are significantly different when comparing mean data between months of boll weevil collections. When boll weevils were provided with cotton squares daily, the pre-ovipositional periods of female parents captured in september, november and January were 5, 9 and 14 days, respectively. The rate of eggs by females was significantly lower during november and January than september. Female parents collected in september produced a significantly higher percentage of eggs yielding adult progeny than those collected in november and January. Life table parameters indicated that net reproductive rate （ro） of boll weevil females collected in september was 1.2- fold higher than those collected in november and 10.7-fold higher than those collected in January. Except for testes size, no differences in male reproductive parameters were observed during the cotton-free period compared with males captured during mid-cotton （June）. The number of oocytes in the ovarioles and the number of ooeytes containing yolk were significantly lower during september, november and January compared with June. The reproductive potential ofoverwintering boll weevil females collected in different months is an important consideration in determining the success of any control strategy.

To analyze the effect of agricultural activity on nitrogen(n) budget at the watershed scale,a comparative study was conducted at two Japanese watersheds,the shibetsu river watershed(srW) and Upper-naka river watershed(UnrW),and one Chinese watershed,the Jurong reservoir watershed(JrW).The total area and the proportion of agricultural area(in parentheses) of the watersheds were 685(51%),1 299(21%),and 46 km 2(55%) for srW,UnrW,and JrW,*** main agricultural land use in srW was forage grassland,while paddy fields occupied the highest proportion of cropland in UnrW(11% of total area) and JrW(31% of total area).The farmland surplus n was 61,48,and 205 kg n ha 1 year 1 for srW,UnrW,and JrW,*** total input and output for the whole watershed were 89 and 76,83 and 61,and 353 and 176 kg n ha 1 year 1 for srW,UnrW,and JrW,*** proportion of discharged n to net anthropogenic n input was 31%,37%,and 1.7% for srW,UnrW,and JrW,*** two watersheds in Japan showed similar proportions of discharged n to those of previous reports,while the watershed in China(JrW) showed a totally different characteristic compared to previous *** high n input in JrW did not increase the amount of discharged n at the outlet of the watershed due to high proportions of paddy fields and water bodies,which was an underestimated n sink at the landscape scale.

Microbiota modification by probiotic supplementation reduces colitis associated colon cancer in mice

AIM To investigate the effect of probiotic supplementation during the development of an experimental model of colitis associated colon cancer(CAC). METHODs C57 BL/6 mice received an intraperitoneal injection of azoxymethane(10 mg/kg), followed by three cycles of sodium dextran sulphate diluted in water(5% w/v). Probiotic group received daily a mixture of Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacil us rhamnosus and Bifidobacterium bifidum. Microbiota composition was assessed by 16 sr rnA Illumina Hi seq sequencing. Colon samples were collected for histological analysis. Tumor cytokines was assessed by real Time-PCr(Polymerase Chain reaction); and serum cytokines by Multiplex assay. All tests were two-sided. The level of significance was set at P raphs were generated and statistical analysis performed using the software Graph Pad Prism 5.0. The project was approved by the institutional review board committee. rEsULTs At day 60 after azoxymethane injection, the mean number of tumours in the probiotic group was 40% lower than that in the control group, and the probiotic group exhibited tumours of smaller size(re was no difference in richness and diversity between groups. However, there was a significant difference in beta diversity in the multidimensional scaling analysis. The abundance of the genera Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Allobaculum, Clostridium XI and Clostridium XVⅢ increased in the probiotic group(P robial change was accompanied by reduced colitis, demonstrated by a 46% reduction in the colon inflammatory index; reduced expression of the serum chemokines rAnTEs and Eotaxin; decreased p-IKK and TnF-α and increased IL-10 expression in the colon. COnCLUsIOn Our results suggest a potential chemopreventive effect of probiotic on CAC. Probiotic supplementation changes microbiota structure and regulates the inflammatory response, reducing colitis and preventing CAC.

This study aimed to investigate the biosorption potential of na2CO3-modified Aloe barbadensis Miller (Aloe vera) leaf (MABL) powder for removal of ni(II) ions from a synthetic aqueous solution. Effects of various process parameters (pH, equilibrium time, and temperature) were investigated in order to optimize the biosorptive removal. The maximum biosorption capacity of MABL was observed to be 28.986 mg/g at a temperature of 303 K, a biosorbent dose of 0.6 g, a contact time of 90 min, and a pH value of 7. Different kinetic models (the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and intraparticle diffusion models) were evaluated. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was found to be the best fitted model in this study, with a coefficient of determination of r^2 =0.974. Five different isotherm models (the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, Dubinin-radushkevich, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) models) were investigated to identify the best-suited isotherm model for the present system. Based on the minimum chi-square value (X^2 =0.027) and the maximum coefficient of determination (r^2 =0.996), the Langmuir isotherm model was found to represent the system well, indicating the possibility of monolayer biosorption. The sticking probability (s*) was found to be 0.41, suggesting a physisorption mechanism for biosorption of ni(II) on MABL. The biosorbent was characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIr), scanning electron microscopy (sEM), zeta potential, and BET surface area, in order to understand its morphological and functional characteristics.
