Objective:To identify the prevalence of soil-transmitted helminthiasis(STH)among school-age children in the cagayan Valley,the Philippines,assess their level of awareness on the disease,and determine predisposing factors of the ***:A total of 478 GradesⅢ-Ⅴschool-age children in Pamplona and Sanchez-Mira School Districts in the cagayan Valley answered the questionnaire assessing their knowledge,attitude,and practices on STH,subjected to anthropometric measurements,and provided faecal samples for parasitologic assessment(direct smear,Kato-Katz,and formol-ether concentration techniques).Results:The participants of the study,with 55.86%females,were 8 to 14 years *** nutritional status was assessed‘normal’(84.31%),‘severely wasted’(6.49%),‘wasted’(5.23%),‘overweight’(2.72%),and‘obese’(1.26%).The prevalence of infection with at least 1 STH species was 25.99%in Pamplona and 19.40%in ***,the prevalence of heavy intensity was 7.11%for Ascaris lumbricoides and 1.67%for Trichuris *** hookworm infections had light *** majority of the school-age children had a low score in the KAP *** knowledge of STH,‘stunted growth as a symptom of infection’was associated with a lower risk of Ascaris lumbricoides infection(OR 0.448;95%cI 0.212,0.945;P=0.035)while‘playing with soil as a mode of transmission’was associated with an increased risk of Ascaris lumbricoides infection(OR 2.067;95%cI 1.014,4.212;P=0.046).In attitude towards STH,‘I think I have intestinal worm now’was associated with a higher risk of Ascaris lumbricoides infection(OR 1.681;95%cI 1.061,2.662;P=0.027).conclusions:The prevalence rate of Ascaris lumbricoides among the school-age children in the cagayan Valley shows the need to further intensify intervention in the area to meet the threshold set by the World Health *** identified predictors of infection,which concerns the school-age children’s knowledge and attitude toward STH,can be used in augmenting

THE SWI/SNF cOMPLEXESIn plants, as well as in metazoans, the execution of devel- opmental programs and the response to environmental stimuli depend on changes in gene transcription programs that require extensive chromatin modifications of basically two types： posttranslational modification of histones and ATP-dependent reorganization of histones-DNA interac- tions. Many different nuclear machineries are necessary to carry out chromatin modifications at the appropriate time and place.

The Beauty of Being a Variant： H2A.Z and the SWR1 complex in Plants

Numerous studies have shown that the nucleosome is a dynamic structure that strongly influences gene expression. Dynamism concerns different nucleosomal characteristics, including position, posttranslational modifications, and histone composition. Thus, within the nucleosome, canonical histones can be exchanged by histone variant proteins with specific functions--a process known as ‘histone replacement＇. The histone variant H2A.Z has an important function in transcription and, during the last few years, its role in plant development and immune response has become evident. compiling genetic and biochemical studies from several laboratories has revealed that plants contain a multiprotein complex, similar to the SWR1/SRcAP complex from yeast and animals, involved in H2A.Z deposition. Despite intense research in different organisms, the mechanism by which H2A.Z influences transcription is still unknown. However, recent results from Arabidopsis have shown a strong inverse correlation between H2A.Z and DNA methylation, suggesting that H2A.Z might protect genes from silencing.

Domination is the fastest-growing field within graph theory with a profound diversity and impact in real-world applications,such as the recent breakthrough approach that identifies optimized subsets of proteins enriched with cancer-related *** its conceptual simplicity,domination is a classical NP-complete decision problem which makes analytical solutions elusive and poses difficulties to design optimization algorithms for finding a dominating set of minimum cardinality in a large ***,we derive for the first time an approximate analytical solution for the density of the minimum dominating set(MDS)by using a combination of cavity method and ultra-discretization(UD)*** derived equation allows us to compute the size of MDS by only using as an input the information of the degree distribution of a given network.

Aims Habitat loss and fragmentation are the main threats to biodiversity in tropical *** such as shaded cocoa plantations(ScP)provide refuge for tropical forest ***,it is poorly known whether the interspecific ecological interactions are also maintained in these transformed *** evaluated the diversity,reproductive status and photosynthetic metabolism(cAM or c3)of the epiphytic orchid community,and their interactions with host trees(phorophytes)in ScP compared to tropical rainforest(TRF).Methods In southeastern Mexico,three sites each in TRF and ScP were studied,with four 400 m2 plots established at each site to record all orchids and their *** determined the reproductive(adult)or non-reproductive(juvenile)status of each orchid individual in relation to the presence or absence,respectively,of flowers/fruits(or remnants),and assigned the photosynthetic pathway of each orchid species based in *** used true diversity and ecological networks approaches to analyze orchid diversity and orchid–phorophyte interactions,*** Findings In total,607 individuals belonging to 47 orchid species were *** diversity was higher in TRF(19 effective species)than in ScP(11 effective species)and only seven species were shared between the two *** orchid species were more frequent in ScP(53%)than in TRF(14%).At the community level the proportion of non-reproductive and reproductive orchid species and the nested structure and specialization level of the TRF orchid–phorophyte network were maintained in ***,only a subset of TRF epiphytic orchids remains in ScP,highlighting the importance of protecting *** this difference,shaded agroecosystems such as ScP can maintain some of the diversity and functions of natural forests,since the ScP epiphytic orchid community,mainly composed of cAM species,and its phorophytes constitute a nested interaction network,which would confer robustness to d

To analyze the anatomy of sacral venous plexus flow, the causes of injuries and the methods for controlling presacral hemorrhage during surgery for rectal *** review of the databases MEDLINE® and Embase™ was conducted, and relevant scientific articles published between January 1960 and June 2016 were examined. The anatomy of the sacrum and its venous plexus, as well as the factors that influence bleeding, the causes of this complication, and its surgical management were *** is a review of 58 published articles on presacral venous plexus injury during the mobilization of the rectum and on techniques used to treat presacral venous bleeding. Due to the lack of cases published in the literature, there is no consensus on which is the best technique to use if there is presacral bleeding during mobilization in surgery for rectal cancer. This review may provide a tool to help surgeons make decisions regarding how to resolve this serious *** series of alternative treatments are described; however, a conventional systematic review in which optimal treatment is identified could not be performed because few cases were analyzed in most publications.

Modern management of rectal cancer: A 2006 update

The goal of this review is to outline some of the important surgical issues surrounding the management of patients with early (T1/T2 and NO), as well as locally advanced (T3/T4 and/or N1) rectal cancer. Surgery for rectal cancer continues to develop towards the ultimate goals of improved local control and overall survival, maintaining quality of life, and preserving sphincter, genitourinary, and sexual function. Information concerning the depth of tumor penetration through the rectal wall, lymph node involvement, and presence of distant metastatic disease is of crucial importance when planning a curative rectal cancer resection. Preoperative staging is used to determine the indication for neoadjuvant therapy as well as the indication for local excision versus radical cancer resection. Local excision is likely to be curative in most patients with a primary tumor which is limited to the submucosa (T1N0M0), without high-risk features and in the absence of metastatic disease. In appropriate patients, minimally invasive procedures, such as local excision, TEM, and laparoscopic resection allow for improved patient comfort, shorter hospital stays, and earlier return to preoperative activity level. Once the tumor invades the muscularis propria (T2), radical rectal resection in acceptable operative candidates is recommended. In patients with transmural and/or node positive disease (T3/T4 and/or N1) with no distant metastases, preoperative chemoradiation followed by radical resection according to the principles of TME has become widely accepted. During the planning and conduct of a radical operation for a locally advanced rectal cancer, a number of surgical management issues are considered, including: (1) total mesorectal excision (TME); (2) autonomic nerve preservation (ANP); (3) circumferential resection margin (cRM); (4) distal resection margin; (5) sphincter preservation and options for restoration of bowel continuity; (6) laparoscopic approaches; and (7) postoperative qu

Tuna classification using super learner ensemble of region-based cNN-grouped 2D-LBP models
